Why is there no SWISS MADE on the dial?
Beautiful collection. I have just started collecting watches this year. I have 5 Tissot watches so far. 3 with the powermatic 80, one mechanical and one quartz. I started with Orient and Seiko as i didn't know i could get the Tissot watches at the same price. I'm so impressed with the quality of my Tissot watches. Thanks for showing your amazing collection.
@deanP good choice
Thanks for this video on Tissot. I have recently had 2 omegas from the 1950’s , a tissot from the mid-90’s and one from the early -60’s serviced and couldn’t be happier! Your videos contributed to feeding this passion. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing and great to hear that! When people write me a comment and share about their collection, that makes what I do so much more fun.
I recently found one of my father’s watches. The one found is a Tissot automatic gold cap over stainless that I have not been able to date but i thought would be 1950’s. By watching your video I can tell it is either 1954-1955. All I have had to do to the watch was get a new strap. Wound it up the first time to get it going. I have been wearing it since and it keeps time like a champ. I have not opened the watch to see if I can get more info.
Your content is unique - clearly narrated, beautifully filmed and about vintage watches. Please keep up the good work! I fear that with UA-cam being the way it is pure vintage content is far harder to monetise than videos about contemporary releases. I would love you to do a video about vintage Longines through the years, as they were the great competitor who spurred Omega to ever greater heights.
Thank you so much for your comment and input.
The channel's primary focus is educating people about vintage watches. But from time to time, I do review modern pieces as well.
If you enjoy learning more about vintage Longines, there are currently two videos on the channel:
1) ua-cam.com/video/l2ZGnbMWf4Q/v-deo.html
and
2) ua-cam.com/video/bGPUrpeCQRY/v-deo.html
That is the best Tissot collection I've seen. Very well chosen.
It really is! Condition is more important than rarity.
Your work is fantastic 👏
I have a pillow/tv shaped Tissot T12 in gold finish that is in excellent condition. Probably early 70s. Its uncommon, I suppose, I had trouble finding a picture of one online in the same color. Not that it makes the watch valuable, but I like uncommon watches. I love the vintage Tissot watches.
Some really Beautiful watches here !!! I never realized how nice Tissot watches are, til I looked at a Sea Star , which Im getting through a finance plan... Its beautiful, and SWISS .
Congratulations my friend! Happy for you.
What a great video and what a great collection! Well done, my friend. Thank you for sharing these treasures with the rest of us and keeping them (or restoring them) to their original state.
Glad you enjoyed it. I like to share untouched original examples, this way my viewers can truly understand what these watches originally look like.
A truly excellent collection! I was hoping to see the PR516 Visodate Seastar with "continental" (steering wheel) bracelet. I bought mine new in 1967 for £27, still wear it regularly and it keeps excellent time, probably because I get it serviced every five years. I have used high quality leather straps for a long time as they're way more comfortable than the original bracelet . . . which I still have though as it's iconic.
Thank you for the comment. The original bracelet of most watches of this age is usually long gone. :-(
I believe the PR 516 heritage model also comes with this bracelet.
Great video, I love vintage Tissot's, my 1957 Seastar automatic runs like a champ +5sec per day.
Nice collection. I have the Visodate & Seastar.
All pieces are awesome and it is difficult to choose a couple of them.
Any way the Nr. 3 Tissot Automatic Bumper is fantastic with bicolor dial. I suppose is one of the fist bumper watchesm at that time.
The Nr. 9 with the black leaf is something you can not forget.
Unfortunately I am oversea and would be difficult to purchase at least one of them.
You are doing a great job. The quality of videos are superlative. Thanks for sharing them.
Thank you for the comment. I ship a lot of watches overseas. Message me if you’re interested to purchase anything.
Which do I like best ? I'd be happy to own any, I have a 1952 bumper calibre 28.5.1, not as pristine as any of yours but it's still keeping v/g time
Hi! this should be made in a book as reference!
Excellent video!👌❤️👍
Wow, thank you! Maybe one day!
Nice collection all look very 👍 👍 👍
Superb video with excellent watches. I am astounded to see the movements in such mint condition, even though they have been serviced. I would like to buy the alarm wrist watch if you plan to sell it and what would your price be?
Very well presented. Nice one.
Absolutely wonderful video, love Tissot..
18 is my favorite💥💥
Appreciate your time putting together, turn table is perfect..
It was definitely a fun video to make!
Splendid video! More of these please!
Sure!
incredibly detailed video. thank you! might be a little troublesome on your end, but I suggest adding chapters for each watch. would really help with the viewing experience! thank you!
Thank you for the great pointer! Will give that a try!
Nice video. I like #1 best , 1938 Tissot. The black dial with vanilla numerals and outer dial ring is very nice.
Thank you for the comment and sharing your favourite piece from the video. I bet it is most people’s favourite as well. 😆
I have had a Tissot black-face date watch with gold accents (gold bars instead of numbers except at 12 & 6) almost 40 years. It's been flawless. Replaced 3 batteries (myself) and two black leather watchbands and the watch, except for the crystal, still looks brand new and still is beautiful. Gold accents and bezel are as brilliant as 40 years ago. The watch has never been serviced.
Beautiful collection! I like the gold cap. Kind of like my tooth. :)
Haha. Thank you! 😊
Wow, they're all really nice.
My favorite is the Tissot alarm feature..
Amazing collection and I cant pic a fav they are all great :) one question how are you so lucky to get these age watches with such good dials do you get them restored or are you just that lucky ;)
keep up the awesome vids
Thank you. I’ve been in this hobby/business for over 2 decades. I’ve gone through so many bad purchases to end up where I am today. Learn things the hard way. That’s why I am making these videos to help all my viewers. Not to mention that I am also a watchmaker. So I do restore my watches before I present them. Haha.
Of course, when I restore a watch, I do not restore the dial or polish the case.
Very beautiful watches - especially I find the Visodates very beautiful - I am a fan og watches with a datewindow. I have had some of them myself, but now I have sold them. I have also had some vintage Tissots from the 60'ies and 70'ies. Are the Tissot movements (7xx) just as good as the movements from the 50'ies? I am very fond of the Tissots from the 50'ies and the 60'ies. I think I will acquire some of these in the future. My only Tissot watch yet is atTissot Gentleman from 2022 - a beautiful and very precise watch. Best regards Ulrich Sorensen
Thank you! I would say the quality of a Tissot movements are equally as great throughout the 1940s to 1970s. I believe the 7xx caliber you are referring to is a 784? That is actually the same caliber as an Omega 1481. Several of Omega 1970s calibers are the same Tissot, but they used different reference number to confuse you. haha. BTW, my very first high end watch back when I was still in college was a Tissot PR50 in titanium. :-D
Excelente colección todos muy bonitos
No Tissot watch that actor Jimmy Stewart wore in the 1954 movie"Rear Window"? I've been looking for that watch.
One day! :-P
Beautiful watches.
Glad you like them!
Great video! Still. waiting for a part 2 from 1969-1979 including PR516, Seastar, T.12...
One day!
@@TimelessHistoryChannel sounds great 👍
I'm getting a 1940s Tissot Aquasport i just want verify it's authenticity will you please help me? I'm getting it for 75 dollars and it's not working right now.
Where did you buy the tan leather strap on the 2nd watch?
local supplier. But try this website for great strap selections: www.hirschstraps.com/
Nice video and great watches!
One question if you dont mind please?
I am just servicing a tissot 28.5t.21 bumper, but just wondered, when the watch is horizontal and dial down, how much vertical movement does the rotor/weight have on your watch please,as I may have wear on the weight pivots.
Many thanks.
Thank you for the comment.
When working on a bumper automatic movement, you'll need to examine if the weight has any play. You can check by using a tweezer; if there is a prominent up and down movement, the weight will tend up and unable to swing freely when the mainspring gets a few winds. This means that your watch will never get to self fully wind itself. In that case, you'll likely need to replace the upper/lower automatic bridge jewels/bushings and possibly the automatic weight axle as well. But more importantly, you'll need to ensure that there is no play on the pawl bearing (the winding piece connecting to the ratchet wheel and automatic axle). If there is wobble movement, you'll need to replace the upper and lower bushing. Worn bushings will cause the pawl bearing to tighten up the automatic weight. When the bumper automatic is fully powered, the weight will still swing freely as you move your wrist. Since the weight only swings at 270 degrees and winds in one direction, it will require more wrist movement throughout the day while wearing it. The power reserve on a bumper automatic is around 36hrs, which is very short compared to other automatic watches.
That's great information, thank you very much!!
new to your channel really enjoy your work
Awesome! Welcome 🤗
Don’t watch too many videos a day or you’ll forget everything! 😆
I just recently bought what I'm assuming it's 1939 Women's Tissot for my wife at a garage sale, the watch seems like it was a wedding present as it's engraved R&S 4-1-40. I want to learn more about the watch, where can I go to find more information?
You can always create a post on the Omega forums and someone there should be able to assist you.
clean pieces!!
Dónde compraste la máquina del tiempo para viajar al pasado? Yo también quiero una, para ir a comprar unos cuantos relojitos. Todos están espectaculares.
Not sure about choice of music..
A bit like a 70s porrnography movie sound track..just guessing, I'm no expert on them .
A tad loud, repetitive imo either way,
Re which 1 I liked best. Tough question, maybe 13. I lean more towards black dials, I think..
I think you did really well with the straps. They all looked nice and suited the watches.
Enjoyed the vid. Only minor gripe is the music (as mentioned).
Thank you for your comment! I'm not a professional video maker; I'm still learning. If you watch my recent videos, you’ll notice that the background music is relatively low.
@TimelessHistoryChannel
Perfectly understandable.
You do good work..just some feed back and yes tour recent videos don't ha e that issue so you're all over it.
Happy holidays .
Man, this collection is a time-machine. I'm jealous you know :^
I have a Tissot antimagnetique cream dial, separate second dial.. no numbers on the dial. For some reason I cannot find info regarding this model can u help?
There are many Tissot models and dial variation. You can find out the model number by opening up the watch. :-)
If i want to buy one of thisTissot Watches seré can i know more
1954. My favorite with 27B
Does tissot 1981 seastar gold plated exist?
Most likely yes
Hello from Mexico…. Great video. I like Tissot watches. I hope you can help me with a doubdt. I have a Vintage Tissot. The serial Number at the bach of the case is 17062 1. Its a 30 mm diameter. I would like to know more like year made, model like visodate . Thanks in advance
Wow the 1938 is in amazing condition. All of them are for that matter. I assume you have put some work into them?
Oh yes! Absolutely! I must make sure that my watches are in good health and working order before presenting them or offering them for sale. :-)
I subscribed to your website so I can see what you are offering for sale. I don't remember seeing Tissot wristwatches. Are these from your personal collection? The quality is obvious. I have never seen a vintage Tissot. Very special. It would be hard to choose one from this collection but I prefer the manual wind models I believe.
Thank you for the comment! I forgot to tag a comment in the comment section. You have subscribed to my main site, which is good enough. I do not sell Tissot on the main site, but whenever there is an update on my secondary site, I also notify all subscribers from my main site. Check the pinned comment shortly and there will be a link to the secondary site. Update with all 18pcs will hit the site soon!
I think it's wrong to call Tissot "a sister brand of Omega"! Unlike Tudor (which is really a sister brand of Rolex) and Rolex that were both founded in England by a German Omega was founded in the very same year as modern Switzerland in 1848, while Tissot was founded independently in Le Locle in 1853. Of course Omega and Tissot joined forces in the SSIH until the Quartz crisis and later they both became part of the Swatch Group. 🤔
For me as a Swiss Omega and Tissot represent in my mind the Swiss watch industry! (Of course there were many other brands around too. But marketing wise I had this impression.) 😍
What if I refer Tissot as a “step sister” company of Omega? Haha.
Tissot did merge with Omega and shared some of their calibers since the 1930s. That’s about 100 years of history together.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel lol "Step sister"
However I don't see SSIH as a merger! It was a cooperation of Omega, Tissot and Lemania. Like ETA today Omgega and Tissot shared the same calibre. (So what?)
Omega still produced their models in Biel while Tissot produced as from 1853 in Le Locle! (I think I see merger like two or more firms becomming one firm. Thats why I say it was a cooperation.) 🤔
I've seen an Omega looking almost exactly like that first one. nice example
Oh yeah, I bet! Old Bumper Automatic or 30T2 Omega will come with a similar dial.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel you are correct 👍
What brand watch bands do u use?
I supply my own watch straps. Some are handmade at the shop. There is no brand name on the straps.
Hi. I like these videos very much but, nevertheless, I also would like to see a service / restauration video once in a while. Thanks :)
Hope to do more restoration videos in the future. I am very busy and these videos take up 2-3 days to complete.
Love your watches, very nice condition but the cheap straps on alot of them, I don't.
Haha. Well, I wouldn’t call these straps cheap. I have worked on enough watches to differentiate cheap and good straps apart. They are still good quality straps, but just not top notch and expensive. So I use them on the watches that I have for sale. All of these Tissot are for sale.
Never worn such a brand
If you get the opportunity, give it a shot. You'll not be disappointed.
I found one, looking like new, an unmarked steel-cased Tissot Antinmatique from 1954, has a 31.9 mm case with a creamy dial, saw a larger 36 mm version going for £1.116.59, I got mine for a fraction of the price.
Wow, what happened to Tissot? They used to make beautiful pieces and now everything looks plastic and cheap 😢
I wished they stayed with that logo
They brought it back on the 1938 telemeter
It's on the Visodate too
They have it on the Heritage line!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Salut
I enjoyed your post. The music is NOT needed
Haha. Sorry about that. My more recent videos have improved. :)
Very g
Gorgeous watches.
23min of a revolving tune, however, felt raw and irritating
Apologize for that.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel No need to apologise but maybe no music necessary. I can't think of another channel that can present such a number of pristine vintage (historic) Tissot pieces in one video, in chronological order from this period.
Thank you !
@@deedee8568 Sometimes, I wish that UA-cam has a feature for my viewers to choose whether to have background music on or off. This will satisfy everyone. :-D
Thank you for the continued support. I do strive to continue to produce more of these unique educational videos.
What happens to this channel? Nothing new in a year
I’m back! Just uploaded a new video a couple days ago. :)
Annoyng music. JUBILEUM.
Apologize for the music in these earlier videos.
