    Beautiful collection. I have just started collecting watches this year. I have 5 Tissot watches so far. 3 with the powermatic 80, one mechanical and one quartz. I started with Orient and Seiko as i didn't know i could get the Tissot watches at the same price. I'm so impressed with the quality of my Tissot watches. Thanks for showing your amazing collection.

    Your content is unique - clearly narrated, beautifully filmed and about vintage watches. Please keep up the good work! I fear that with UA-cam being the way it is pure vintage content is far harder to monetise than videos about contemporary releases. I would love you to do a video about vintage Longines through the years, as they were the great competitor who spurred Omega to ever greater heights.

      Thank you so much for your comment and input.
      The channel's primary focus is educating people about vintage watches. But from time to time, I do review modern pieces as well.
      If you enjoy learning more about vintage Longines, there are currently two videos on the channel:

    Thanks for this video on Tissot. I have recently had 2 omegas from the 1950’s , a tissot from the mid-90’s and one from the early -60’s serviced and couldn’t be happier! Your videos contributed to feeding this passion. Thank you.

    I recently found one of my father’s watches. The one found is a Tissot automatic gold cap over stainless that I have not been able to date but i thought would be 1950’s. By watching your video I can tell it is either 1954-1955. All I have had to do to the watch was get a new strap. Wound it up the first time to get it going. I have been wearing it since and it keeps time like a champ. I have not opened the watch to see if I can get more info.

    I have had a Tissot black-face date watch with gold accents (gold bars instead of numbers except at 12 & 6) almost 40 years. It's been flawless. Replaced 3 batteries (myself) and two black leather watchbands and the watch, except for the crystal, still looks brand new and still is beautiful. Gold accents and bezel are as brilliant as 40 years ago. The watch has never been serviced.

    I have a pillow/tv shaped Tissot T12 in gold finish that is in excellent condition. Probably early 70s. Its uncommon, I suppose, I had trouble finding a picture of one online in the same color. Not that it makes the watch valuable, but I like uncommon watches. I love the vintage Tissot watches.

    A truly excellent collection! I was hoping to see the PR516 Visodate Seastar with "continental" (steering wheel) bracelet. I bought mine new in 1967 for £27, still wear it regularly and it keeps excellent time, probably because I get it serviced every five years. I have used high quality leather straps for a long time as they're way more comfortable than the original bracelet . . . which I still have though as it's iconic.

      @TimelessHistoryChannel  Рік тому

      Parabéns pelo seu relógio de 1967. Apreciei seu comentário de fazer manutenção a cada 5 anos. Vai ficar para a próxima geração sua. Conheci um Sr. que usou seu tissot pela vida toda; ganhou da namorada que se tornou sua esposa. Viveu até 90 anos e por 70 anos cuidou do relógio.Ficou com seu neto.
      Bem cuidado não acaba. Parabéns também pela sua história. Tenho também um que comprei em 1973 e o uso regularmente fazendo sempre a manutenção na autorizada tissot.

    All pieces are awesome and it is difficult to choose a couple of them.
    Any way the Nr. 3 Tissot Automatic Bumper is fantastic with bicolor dial. I suppose is one of the fist bumper watchesm at that time.
    The Nr. 9 with the black leaf is something you can not forget.

    I think it's wrong to call Tissot "a sister brand of Omega"! Unlike Tudor (which is really a sister brand of Rolex) and Rolex that were both founded in England by a German Omega was founded in the very same year as modern Switzerland in 1848, while Tissot was founded independently in Le Locle in 1853. Of course Omega and Tissot joined forces in the SSIH until the Quartz crisis and later they both became part of the Swatch Group. 🤔
    For me as a Swiss Omega and Tissot represent in my mind the Swiss watch industry! (Of course there were many other brands around too. But marketing wise I had this impression.) 😍

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  2 роки тому

      What if I refer Tissot as a “step sister” company of Omega? Haha.
      Tissot did merge with Omega and shared some of their calibers since the 1930s. That’s about 100 years of history together.

    • @MusikPiratCH
      @MusikPiratCH 2 роки тому

      @@TimelessHistoryChannel lol "Step sister"
      However I don't see SSIH as a merger! It was a cooperation of Omega, Tissot and Lemania. Like ETA today Omgega and Tissot shared the same calibre. (So what?)
      Omega still produced their models in Biel while Tissot produced as from 1853 in Le Locle! (I think I see merger like two or more firms becomming one firm. Thats why I say it was a cooperation.) 🤔

    Very beautiful watches - especially I find the Visodates very beautiful - I am a fan og watches with a datewindow. I have had some of them myself, but now I have sold them. I have also had some vintage Tissots from the 60'ies and 70'ies. Are the Tissot movements (7xx) just as good as the movements from the 50'ies? I am very fond of the Tissots from the 50'ies and the 60'ies. I think I will acquire some of these in the future. My only Tissot watch yet is atTissot Gentleman from 2022 - a beautiful and very precise watch. Best regards Ulrich Sorensen

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  Рік тому

      Thank you! I would say the quality of a Tissot movements are equally as great throughout the 1940s to 1970s. I believe the 7xx caliber you are referring to is a 784? That is actually the same caliber as an Omega 1481. Several of Omega 1970s calibers are the same Tissot, but they used different reference number to confuse you. haha. BTW, my very first high end watch back when I was still in college was a Tissot PR50 in titanium. :-D

    Nice video and great watches!
    One question if you dont mind please?
    I am just servicing a tissot 28.5t.21 bumper,but just wondered,when the watch is horizontal and dial down,how much vertical movement does the rotor/weight have on your watch please,as I may have wear on the weight pivots.
    Many thanks.

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you for the comment.
      When working on a bumper automatic movement, you'll need to examine if the weight has any play. You can check by using a tweezer; if there is a prominent up and down movement, the weight will tend up and unable to swing freely when the mainspring gets a few winds. This means that your watch will never get to self fully wind itself. In that case, you'll likely need to replace the upper/lower automatic bridge jewels/bushings and possibly the automatic weight axle as well. But more importantly, you'll need to ensure that there is no play on the pawl bearing (the winding piece connecting to the ratchet wheel and automatic axle). If there is wobble movement, you'll need to replace the upper and lower bushing. Worn bushings will cause the pawl bearing to tighten up the automatic weight. When the bumper automatic is fully powered, the weight will still swing freely as you move your wrist. Since the weight only swings at 270 degrees and winds in one direction, it will require more wrist movement throughout the day while wearing it. The power reserve on a bumper automatic is around 36hrs, which is very short compared to other automatic watches.
