I'm autistic and I've been struggling with feeling isolated, it started way before the pandemic, but it has gotten worse over the past few years. This channel really helps me out a lot! Thanks. Even when I'm alone I don't feel lonely sometimes because of this.
As a former Ikea Food Coworker myself, I can tell you that the food is VERY good and a lot of the products are organic, ethically sourced and at a bargain price. The fried onions on a hot dog with the IKEA mustard is very good. Furniture isn't gonna last you 20 years but it is decent.
This was fun to watch as a Swede, the food store at Ikea had even more in it than I remember from the last time I was there. Your first stab at pronouncing Fläder was actually almost spot on too!
I always watch your channel to unwind and feel good again after a hard day. Your videos feel like going on an exciting adventure with a kind friend. I'm also from Southern Arizona so these places are familiar to me and I always learn something new and amazing about the places you visit! I especially love this episode! It just feels nice to kick back, relax with some wholesome cooking content, and learn something I never knew about IKEA. Thank you so much for working hard and making these wonderful videos!
The Swedish Meatballs at IKEA are very tasty. Any time I go there, I make sure to stop at the cafeteria and have a plate. The Tempe location is the one I go to. Thank you!
Hey, RA! Big fan of your videos, but never really commented (usually because I have lunch while watching your videos). Regularly I come for the dead mall stuff, but this is an interesting change of pace! Especially because I'm excited for our IKEA to open next year!
This video made me want Ikea meatballs so BAD! They are not the "best" meatballs in the world but there's just something special about them since they come from Ikea I guess. My husband is literally going to take me to Ikea now JUST so we can get meatballs.
Damn....now I want some Swedish meatballs!! My grandmother used to make them at least once a month back in the day with the gravy served over rice or wide egg noodles. Outstanding. Didn't try them with lingonberry sauce till high school when a good friend of mine invited my family and I over one year for Swedish smorgasbord which is a Christmas tradition. It was also the first time I was casually allowed wine with dinner because most water in Europe is undrinkable and it's more authentic to consume with dinner. I was only 16 or 17 years old so I thought I was pretty bad ass at the time lol Anyway I've personally been to IKEA twice, once up in Canton, Michigan and also down in Columbus in my home state of Ohio. As far as I remember the layout and experience were identical but I had a blast both times. The first time was for my aunt's birthday one year and last time was after my cousin's wedding and we were close to one so we figured what the hell. Anyway their meatballs really are outstanding and have a very distinct flavor about them almost sweet and nutty. Awesome. You MUST do more videos like this one. I'm a young man trying to learn how to make easy meals that my aunt and my girlfriend will enjoy at least a few times a week. It's not hard but you need basic ingredients and the time to prepare them. Thank you.
Meatballs with noodles? Also, bad water? in Sweden? When was this? Was it heated "Wine" cause then it was probably the Christmas traditional Glögg, and the Smörgåsbord you mention was probably a Swedish Christmas table! :D
This was very relaxing and interesting to watch. I'll be looking forward to more cooking videos if you decide to make more. Another great video, as usual!
Great episode! I actually used to be a machine operator then service mechanic in a frozen food manufacturing plant. I periodically had to service several machines, including some which processed certain foods into frozen pellets as well as powdering foods for consumer reconstitution. Some of the food items you prepared reminded me of those machines.
From the photo on the bottle of Cloudberry jam, that looks a lot like a native berry we have in Newfoundland, Canada called a Bakeapple. These berries grow in marshy areas and are difficult to harvest because of their location and the mosquitoes and black flies that will eat you alive!
Hey retail archaeology, I am a big fan of ikea. I strongly recommend going for Sunday morning breakfast you can get a really good breakfast for 3 dollars. The cafeteria opens one hour before the store opens if you go for breakfast. Also being that it’s summer they offer pulled pork sandwiches which are surprisingly really good, at least in my location which is Miami,FL
Hey retail archeology, I have been watching your videos and I’ve heard you’re around Arizona. I explored multiple abandoned malls in this district in Mesa and I was hoping you could check it out. I made a video on it if you are curious. I was hoping you would explore the abandoned part that I explored in the two buildings and the dead part as well
I love the veggie balls, the frozen custard/yogurt (I forget what it is), the cookies with filling in them, the milk chocolate bar, cinnamon rolls, the chocolate cake you picked up and their Mac and cheese and fries.
Funny, having a playdate there today. The kids play while the moms have lunch together, relax, and shop for our weekly essentials :-) I go here sometimes if I need to focus on some work but my kids will not let me. I let them play and I finish my work. We love Ikea!
It's weird how many different types of berries there are. I just moved from Ottawa, Ontario to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and I found out there is such a thing as Saskatoon berry. It's kinda like a purple blueberry. It's pretty good. Great video btw!
The meatballs are the classic stuff, super tasty. Here in Hong Kong, IKEA stores are located in malls instead of dedicated building btw. Thanks for posting this, nice to see you facing the camera :-)
I like Ikea so much I had to go to Sweden and go to the Ikea there that is like a multicolor spiral ramp. Since I was on vacation other than eating, my only souvenir is a Swedish language catalog!
You were cracking me up reading the labels and stuff. This was a fun video, looked like everything came out well! I knew you could buy some of the food but I've never done that, will have to pick some up sometime.
I live down the street from this Ikea but I haven't been in a long time. This video makes me want to visit soon because I've never explored the market section. Thank you for the video!
When Potomac Mills Mall opened in 1985, it brought the first Ikea to Virginia. However, the Ikea is no longer inside the mall and now it's own separate building in front of the mall which used to be where a cemetery was located.
They expanded food offerings in the USA after seeing a demand. Both stores in the Vancouver area are about the same as the one in the video, so it's possible that these have expanded into Canada as well.
When i compaire this ''food market'' to our ikeas in Finland/Sweden only difference that i see is that you guys have wider space between shelves... and cloud berry is sour and i usually eat it with vanilla ice cream. Weird names like KÖTBULLAR and SYLT BLÅBÄR and other non-english words are swedish, KÖTBULLAR means meatballs and SYLT BLÅBÄR means blueberryjam and what comes to those weird phrases they are trying to ne funny? well im not sure why they placed those weird phrases on packets(we have them too) but allemansrätten means "everyman's right, its the general public's right to access certain public or privately owned land for recreation and exercise''
Sonic More Music To film in the store I used a GoPro Hero 6. The cooking portions were filmed with a combo of the GoPro Hero 6 and my Samsung Galaxy S9. I also used a Rode shotgun mic with the S9 while filming the cooking portion. Additional lighting was also used during the cooking portion.
I am going to go buy an Ikea grocery store from Kallen Caviar it is delicious, And many other products are delicious. Fish products are tasty and Caviar .Thank you for this video.
Hey, I liked this cooking video. An idea for another one of these videos: buy ingredients exclusively from a dollar/99 cents store and make some dishes out of that. Thanks for all of the content. :)
Nice to see Ikea branded food. It reminds me that Volkswagen do also produces wieners - they are a great match for those Ikea meatballs xD (its their best selling product of 2017) and ketchup since 1972. Unfortunately you can't go to your nearest VW dealer and order some units of 199 398 500 A (yes, it has its own part number) since it's only sold in special events and factory shops in German.
Amethyst Star In the USA their stores always have I visited one of the very first IKEA stores that opened in the USA back in the mid 80s (near Philly, PA) and even then they had an extensive grocery selection of Swedish items.
I like the upstairs restaurant but for me the best food is in the exit one. The little margarita pizza, the french fries, the meatballs and specially the Frankfurts are just the best
The "bistro" at the exit is a little different in every city and country it seems. In Portland, Ore. we do not have the nice margarita pizza, only slices of what looks a lot like frozen cheese pizza (no tomate). Ours do not have fryers so no french fries (but I think they have that in Canada). They just stopped selling the meatballs (in gravy) from the downstairs/bistro here. The frankfurters (hot dogs in the USA) are maybe different from country to country. Ours are so good at Costco (& Sam's Club) that I think people feel IKEAs can't compare.
I knew there might be some differences but not that many! For instance i knew that our Ikeas in spain were probably the only ones that served Iberic Ham sandwiches, but i didnt expect any difference in the rest of "more International" foods such as fries or pizza... very interesting!
I have to wonder why it is that most just do not catch on to the fact that a snoze berry is a booger. Snoze is defined as the past tense of a sneeze and thus a snoze berry can only be a booger. Your fun Willy Wonka fact for the day Your Welcome
They are slowly rebuilding older sites to resemble their more modern ones (first floor entry / warehouse / checkout, second floor showroom). A good example is Seattle, WA where they built the new store where the covered parking (warehouses) were located and then turned the old store into the new covered parking. In BC, I have seen the parking built underneath the building due to real estate costs.

Damn you have to put together everything from ikea, even the food!
shaneclarke995 yes, one extra meatball, packed separately
This was fun to watch as a Swede, the food store at Ikea had even more in it than I remember from the last time I was there. Your first stab at pronouncing Fläder was actually almost spot on too!
The orange jar is seaweed pearls, which is a vegetarian/vegan caviar substitute.

Cooking Archaeology?
InfinityPets I like it lol, more please!
here in germany its sooo normal to have ikea and all their food, so its really funny how you see everything almost as exotic
If you go back - for sure grab the sparkling Pomegranate cocktail - it's just beautiful and fresh tasting!
The Swedish Meatballs at IKEA are very tasty. Any time I go there, I make sure to stop at the cafeteria and have a plate. The Tempe location is the one I go to. Thank you!
Try the veggie ones, delicious as well
Diam is a candy bar over her in Europe, used to be called Dime here in the UK though to make sure people pronounced it correctly in English.
Dajm

The something special is that THEY ARE A SWEDISH RECIPE....there is a world outside 'merica ya know
Thats all we go for
Damn....now I want some Swedish meatballs!! My grandmother used to make them at least once a month back in the day with the gravy served over rice or wide egg noodles. Outstanding. cloudberry yogurt is really good they sell it at regular grocers in MN
IKEA is so much fun, especially the food
Same!!
Some assembly required...
This was very relaxing and interesting to watch. I'll be looking forward to more cooking videos if you decide to make more. Another great video, as usual!
Start another channel and call it Cooking with Retail Archeology!
Been watching the channel for a few months. Really enjoy your content, outlook and commentary!

I can't lie, Ikea has some pretty refreshing sodas.
From the photo on the bottle of Cloudberry jam, that looks a lot like a native berry we have in Newfoundland, Canada called a Bakeapple. These berries grow in marshy areas and are difficult to harvest because of their location and the mosquitoes and black flies that will eat you alive!

I like this video I like the cooking segment in it it was a changeup from the norm sometimes you need that well good video like always
I used to live about a mile from this IKEA. Thanks for the nostalgia.

Well that first shot (and the rest) outside IKEA, that is beautiful.
Isn't Arizona really something?
I love the veggie balls, the frozen custard/yogurt (I forget what it is), the cookies with filling in them, the milk chocolate bar, cinnamon rolls, the chocolate cake you picked up and their Mac and cheese and fries.
This definitely made this crappy day a little less crappy.

My father bought some sort of fish at Ikea a few years ago and I think he liked it but it wasn't as good as fresh fish.
This was awesome!!!! Totally going to buy the swedish meatballs when I am there. 💜💜💜💜
I used to work at an IKEA this was a trip thanks

How does the cost compare, buying the ingredients from the store vs. buying it in the IKEA restaurant?
Awesome vid, I loved the cooking segment! Would love to see more like it in future videos
They have pear cider that is really good
You were cracking me up reading the labels and stuff. This was a fun video, looked like everything came out well! I knew you could buy some of the food but I've never done that, will have to pick some up sometime.
I live down the street from this Ikea but I haven't been in a long time. This video makes me want to visit soon because I've never explored the market section. Thank you for the video!
Mine's near Renton.
I like the cooking along with the shopping!
This was awesome. I’m glad I found your channel.
When Potomac Mills Mall opened in 1985, it brought the first Ikea to Virginia. However, the Ikea is no longer inside the mall and now it's own separate building in front of the mall which used to be where a cemetery was located.
Are you saying dead people are buried underneath a Swedish furniture store? lol
No, the small cemetery in the parking lot was moved to a corner
@spirals 73 yes, the cemetry was moved
IKEA potatoes with Fry's milk, nice!
Man, my moms from Sweden and I grew up on that "creamed smoked roe"....she told me its caviar. Iunno what it is but its sooo good!
It’s nearly 100 miles to my nearest IKEA but the mention of roe makes me want to go there!
2:09 looks like someone took the display model ;-)
You've morphed into the Food Channel!!! Next we'll see abandoned places on Food Network!!
Mmm...looks good. I want some !
Wow..I didnt know they sold food in ikea
Nice, this makes me want to go there and get some of the sauce.
Aww kidlet is so adorable :)
Does Rotting Acres Mall have an IKEA? If not you should add one
Another fun video. Thanks for sharing.
Is this a fairly new thing at Ikea? Not sure if they sell groceries at Canadian locations. Only have one location in Calgary.
They expanded food offerings in the USA after seeing a demand. Both stores in the Vancouver area are about the same as the one in the video, so it's possible that these have expanded into Canada as well.
I've been meaning to request an Ikea video, but never got around to asking for one. However, I am happy to see you guys have one near you guys.
There is a delicious pear cider there from Ikea, Retail Archaeology. Try that next time! :)
That my IKEA location in Tempe, Arizona
Was curious and the nearest one from me is south of Boston 👀
I would go there to look at interesting food items 😅
I'm going to Ikea, going to get me some meatballs!

Nice info, Sweet beard too ! 😆
I am craving creamed and smoked roe 👑💯
Question: what type of camera did you use to film this video?
Thanks in advance
Sonic More Music To film in the store I used a GoPro Hero 6. The cooking portions were filmed with a combo of the GoPro Hero 6 and my Samsung Galaxy S9. I also used a Rode shotgun mic with the S9 while filming the cooking portion. Additional lighting was also used during the cooking portion.
Thanks, I can't believe how good the stuff you filmed in the IKEA looks.
Now you've got me hungry for Swedish Meatballs :)
The Daim pie desert you bought I saw in Aldi uk the last time I was in. Did not buy it was most Aldi stuff is made to a price
I want to try the meatballs w. Egg noodles.
I am going to go buy an Ikea grocery store from Kallen Caviar it is delicious, And many other products are delicious. Fish products are tasty and Caviar .Thank you for this video.
I was there today around the same time, god I wish I got to meet you
Love Ikea!
Is this the one in tempe that's right off the 10?
The Almighty Cornholio Yes it is
Hey, I liked this cooking video. An idea for another one of these videos: buy ingredients exclusively from a dollar/99 cents store and make some dishes out of that. Thanks for all of the content. :)
How was it costwise to make at home vs pay for prepared?
This was a riot
Love the channel! ❤️
Did they have surströmming ?
Dorf Schmidt the world's smelliest fish?
You have to tell prices for each item
You've never tried the torte before? 😮
So weird to think that they sell Daimkake in America.
Nice to see Ikea branded food. Gravad Lax (cured salmon) is worth it.
Thrifts...now cooking...you and Clint (LGR) REALLY need to do a collaboration.
The voice changed from the commentary but I love the video
OH wow I didn't know there were grocery stores in IKEA
Amethyst Star
In the USA their stores always have I visited one of the very first IKEA stores that opened in the USA back in the mid 80s (near Philly, PA) and even then they had an extensive grocery selection of Swedish items.
They are called Swedish meatballs because the way they are made.. not because where they are from 😂😂😂
wow I've never been to an Ikea so I never knew they sold a few groceries there
that milk was good until july 6th. thats a good date from right now 6/27!!!
välkommen till ikea
Nice video greetings

You DO know what snozzberries are, right?
Groceries at Ikea? Did I just wake up in parallel universe?
I have to wonder why it is that most just do not catch on to the fact that a snoze berry is a booger. Snoze is defined as the past tense of a sneeze and thus a snoze berry can only be a booger. Your fun Willy Wonka fact for the day Your Welcome
I wont touch the seafood especially the salmon, since there a lot less regulated compared to other type of meats in Europe.
do the ikeas all look the same
Pretty much (at least on the inside). There's a little more variation on the exterior boxy-ness, I've noticed.
They are slowly rebuilding older sites to resemble their more modern ones (first floor entry / warehouse / checkout, second floor showroom). A good example is Seattle, WA where they built the new store where the covered parking (warehouses) were located and then turned the old store into the new covered parking.

Kalles is good shit!
Also IKEAS Meatballs >.> got nothing on the homemade,
Heheh. 1:1 the same as here in NL :)
