@@CookiesportsI can gybe just want to plane out of them more. Recently switched from a firemove. The futura appears to want a bigger arc. I note also that on exit you jump into those straps pretty quickly…which I am not doing.
Also the Carve seems to bounce quite a lot more on the chop. It's not the same volume tho (119l vs 100l), and perhaps not the same sea state too. I ride an old futura (120l from 2012 !) from time to time, and really enjoy it in the medium conditions. This old board wont die !

Nice board and video! I notice you have an extra support bracket for your front mast mount camera. I will probably try something like that for myself or figure something else out but it results in more hardware to get clear of in the jibe. Why can't I plant a drone on a tether 5 feet in front of my board - the Tether Drone™ 😁
Good review thinking of getting a small Freerace board around 100 l . How does it compare to the Severne Fox? They do a 90 litre which maybe better for my weight (73 kilo) .
Depends on wind strength as much as weight… I’m super happy on the 100lt (weighing 75-80kg)… but would happy take a larger one if I was spending more time on larger sails! I’ve tried the fox, very good board, but there’s something about the Futura… Everton that’s tried both prefers the Futura! 🤩
I have a Fox 105l and had a Futura 124l... The fox is a good board but I'm missing the acceleration and the commitment you have to provide on the Futura... The Futura seems more physical.
My beautiful fast expensive Carve is a Ford Focus???😮. I cant believe it. And one level up is F1 with heated seat? Cookie please, upgrade our Carves to a lamborgini or so. I can’t sleep anymore now….
Haha! Please don’t miss-understand… I love the carve! Nothing wrong with a Focus… fast and comfortable, forgiving, easy to drive! I got this version of the carve late in summer 24… I’m really looking forward to spending more time on it through 2025! 🤩
Thanks for the video. According to Starboard, the max sail used on a 100l would be a 7.0m2. You mentioned you may use your biggest sail, a 7.6 m2 on this board, do you plan to use the original fin or to change it to a bigger one? I'm 70kg and have 7.5 NCX and wonder if I should go for a 100l or a 105l... By the way, I have a Fox 105l and had a Futura 124l... The fox is a good board but I'm missing the acceleration and the commitment you have to provide on the Futura... The Futura seems more physical... thanks in advance for your reply.
Thanks! I use larger than largest recommended, but only works when there is a bit of breeze of course… non-planing and larger than recommended is tough! 🤣 The fin supplied is great, Havnt needed bigger, maybe get smaller for windy days. I much prefer the Futura over the fox! 👌
Hi Cookie; I have same weight as you, do you feel your 7.6 its bit too large for her? What would you say its ideal sail size for her? On starboard site its 4.0-7.0 for 100 ltr. Thanks and good winds 🏄🏻♂️
Hi! I use it happily on a 7.1 & 7.8m… when actually moving it’s no problem, feels great… only becomes tougher when you’re in a non-planing lull… little sinky, but it’s ok!
I've owned a 2009 Carve 133, a 2011 Futura 120-ish and a 2018 Futura 118. All sailed pretty nice but all died from severe deck delamination. No more Starboards for me.
Still ride my 2009, the best board starboard has made imo. No matter what conditions you in, once you get in the straps this thing flys and is very very controllable. I ride huge lake swell (Lake Huron) and she just eats it up.
SB is finally making good looking boards, now as long as they can make them last, they should comeback to the glory days of SB !!
The past few years have been super strong! 💪
My first ever dry carve gybe was on a 124 Futura at Vass. I owned a 101 for several years. Superb boards.
👍👍👍👍
Thanks you. amazing review
Thanks 🤩
That board looks absolutely gorgeous 😍
It’s so nice! 👌
Perfect explanation thx !
Thanks
Tiresome day at the office. I needed this. Thanks!
🤩🤩
It would be really great to hear how or what you do differently in the gybe on the furura compared to the carve.
Coming in 2025 spring! 👍
(Simple summary now- if you’re have trouble gybing- get a carve!)

@@alainalain7102 I also have a 2012 futura and I think it's fantastic, I don't know if the new futura of the years 2022/23/24 can be better...
Can you supply more information on your new mount arm with the additional support arm below? Looks like a great solution for added support.
It’s called the FlyMount DuoFlex… full info coming soon! 👍👍
Me like a lot ❤

Thanks for your insight on the Futura! Can I still use the DT Box with my (Starboard Supercruiser) foil? I don't want an extra board just for foiling.
No… the hybrid boards were not so popular so generally stopped bing produced. Foiling on a “foil-ready” windsurf board just isn’t that nice!
@@Cookiesports thanks for letting me know.
I love my 2024 Futura 120. How does the smaller (100 or 105) compare with the smaller Fox in choppy conditions? Another great video, thanks Cookie!
Thanks!
The fox is a great board too… but everyone that’s tried both prefers the Futura! 🤩
How does the delicate wood veneer hold up?

What do you think about the footstrap positions on the 100? Do they feel outboard enough to avoid pressure on your ankles and toes when trying to fly?
Feel perfectly placed to me… mine arn’t on the full outboard position as you see in this video! 🤙
So what is difference with your tops speed on your 100 futura and your 100 carve in the chop?
A few knots…

You should try the carve too- even easier to ride, really comfortable!
