How can anyone hate on this, I have learned so much watching your videos man haha. Probably made 10 PVC bows now and they get better every time. Working on stabilizing and silencing my PVC bow/ Paracord set up, for me thats been the real challenge.
I do the same thing with a couple of little differences. First, I don't cut the loops out of the yarn until I've got it on the string. I find this to be a bit easier. Second, the string I use to bundle the silencer together for installation is only regarded as temporary. I don't glue it down, and I cut it off once the silencer is installed. I just rely on the force of the string wanting to twist tight to hold the silencer in place, and have never had a problem. I regard this as better as super glued cloth is brittle and can be sharp when it breaks, leading to a possible string failure.
Hello Nick, Thank you for the video. Your comment at 6:15 reminded me that I should try this to correct for one of my bows that may be out of tiller, by installing silencers. Although we have made many yarn string puffs, we like to see how each individual makes things. Your video made me think about some new experiments to try. You just never know how your videos will affect the archery community. Thank you so much!
Nic, Of all the PVC bows you have designed, what would be the optimum for whitetail hunting? I apprecaiate the wealth of what you have contributed to our sport of archery. Between you and Grey Archer from Sweden most all is covered.
Hey Nick, Thanks for another great video. I wanted to ask you. You always use schedule 40 to make your bows. why? schedule 80 is not flexible? or is it because the schedule 80 is a few backs more expensive. In short, Can I use schedule 80 to follow olong one of your videos and make a recurve bow?
i have made the actual silencer ... from your instructions and its great. but my bow is a 95 pound bow and it has really deep nocks so i cant actually get the string lower to unravel it ... so i was wondering is there any other way of getting it onto the string
Hey Nick! I just found this channel and it is awesome! Is there a way to make a mount for the flat PVC bows for something like a bow fishing reel? Thanks!
Good video man! I like that you're straight to the point and it's solid info. One quick question does it have to be pure wool or can it be a mixture of yarn/wool cause I've looked for pure wool and it seems to be a pain to find and all the stuff I've found in the stores seems to be a mixture?
Hi, i just started looking for how-to's for bows and this is my first time making one but my question is, is there a best design for a bow? Any warnings i should know? Any advice? Thanks.
I don't presume so. I believe string vibration is caused by leftover energy that remains after the arrow has left the bowstring, and that these puffs mitigate that leftover vibration.
You would have to tie them to the string. A few overhand knots going around the bundle and string should be enough. Slide them to where you want them, then add a little superglue to hold the silencers in place.
AKAzap You can but it won't work. Bows are powered by the bow arms bending and snapping back not the string stretching. Paracord is good for homemade bows.
I recently tried yarn puffs and they are now my favorite type of silencer.

Nicholas Parry Thanks! It is a challenge to tune a PVC bow, but a properly tuned PVC bow is a thing of beauty. Keep it up!
+Nicholas Parry yea I know, I learned so much watching BackyardBowyer. This is one of my fav channels on here.
+BackyardBowyer very good job on all your vids. this is one of my fav channels on youtube =)
Wow, another great video Nick...........I was amazed at the difference that simple, little, upgrade made. Very cool............

As always a nice clear informative video, many thanks.
So simple and effective...awsome!
Nice! Just saved me spending put on shop-bought silencers! And I can choose the colour (luckily my wife is a keen knitter!)
nice informative video, Nick, thanks.
Greetings from Serbia. You're awesome
Cool! This will save a nice amount of money. Is there any way of making them water resistant? Some sort of oil you can spray on them or something?
Nic,

Awesome video! Thanks!
pro tip : you can watch series on Kaldrostream. Been using them for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.
@Cory Cade yea, have been watching on kaldrostream for since december myself :)
@Cory Cade Yea, I have been watching on kaldroStream for since november myself :)
Thanks for the help.

I would really like to buy one...
Also would you please give info on string length when making a bow? It seems absent in most build alongs.
Thanks.
Yep these worked well on my samick sage bow ......whisper shooting now !
Glad this helped!
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching! This will work with a blend or even with synthetic yarn, though 100% wool will puff up better.
I have exactly the same on my bow. It works great! :-)
Really really thank you!
so cool thanks!
Does the silencer have to be wool-based or can it be plant-based, like hemp string? Thanks
I recently noticed that the pharmacies grip on my bow is wearing out. Do I have to re-wrap it or is there a way to stop it?
Hi, i just started looking for how-to's for bows and this is my first time making one but my question is, is there a best design for a bow? Any warnings i should know? Any advice? Thanks.
How many have you made so far? Just wondering if your still ome the string
Well that's cool, subbed.
If my bowstring is made out of type 1 paracord, how do I attach the silencers?
Can i use paracord and a homemade crossbow
Thanks man helps alot
can a bow string be used by yarn just yarn
Which site are these sold on?
Good my friend
Is this silenter then fur silencers?
Does these slow down the arrows/Makes the bow weaker? Is it noticable?
I don't presume so. I believe string vibration is caused by leftover energy that remains after the arrow has left the bowstring, and that these puffs mitigate that leftover vibration.
No it does. Even if in the right spot it still does
How do you put it on a string that is "unflemished"
Wow man i saw that you subbed me !!
It feels great t
Knowing that u have a badass subscriber !!!
how do you put the string silencers on a nylon paracord bow string?
You would have to tie them to the string. A few overhand knots going around the bundle and string should be enough. Slide them to where you want them, then add a little superglue to hold the silencers in place.
BackyardBowyer so for an endless bow string would I also have to tie the silencers on to it?
Tapperlite1 You could tie them on or just slip them in. If they move around, you can just do a simple knot to secure them in place.
so after I serve an endless string I can just twist the extra lose strands and then put the silencers in?
Can i make a homemade bow string out of a rubber band?
AKAzap You can but it won't work. Bows are powered by the bow arms bending and snapping back not the string stretching. Paracord is good for homemade bows.
any mass even a brass nock point will slow the string down
+Morten Jacobsen They actually speed up the arrow firing because more weight is shifted by the string.
Can you do "the last of us" bow?

Sorry The last of us Bow
I don't really like most of your vids. But this ones alright. You didn't go into much detail on where to place it though
Where do you live, the nature around your house is kool.
