Don't get me started with the fact that Dominick had to wait for Erika while she pursues her dreams. In this song, it's obvi that Erika's falling but instead of being with him, she's shown little girls how important it is to go after your dreams. The level of self-love 😩❤️, and Dominick's patience and understanding, I just can't with these two.
Yes! Though you see that love is as important and as great as your dreams, you don't give up your whole life to love! Sometimes, you can't avoid setting aside love and so your duty and dreams comes at first because it's one of the MOST IMPORTANT THINGS your heart will most definitely regret.
A love song with a message that basically means “Even if I’m pretending to be someone else, I hope you can love me for who I am.”, is a message I don’t hear often. Man I miss this movie.
Yo, Dominick was an absolute HERO!! he knew, he KNEW that Erica wasn't Annalise, but did he say shit? No, did he expose her? No! And at the end of the movie he MARRIES Erica. I mean, what??!! We STAN this king of kings!!
@@fofeeefopeefo2634 😂😂😂 I can't believe I'm gonna say this about a BARBIE movie, but you remember the bathroom scene? When Erika was winging to Wolfie? Domminik walked by and SAW HER 😂😂 She wasn't wearing her wig

I'm an adult now, but I'll never get over this movie. The songs and dialogue carry so much weight. It amazes me how easily kids movies like this are dismissed just for being "kids movies." But some of these Barbie films, especially the older ones from 2001-2007 or so, really seem so carefully and lovingly crafted in terms of their themes and character development. One line from the beginning of this movie always stands out so much to me: "You would think that I'm so lucky that I have so many things. I'm realizing that every present comes with strings." I was mind-blown as an adult when I realized how deep that was lol.
Yes so did I, back then when I was a kid I just sang it without knowing what it means. But as I grow up, I realize that the lyrics is much more than that
You know, there's very clever writing that went into this song that I didn't pick up on until many years later, after growing up, and falling in and out of love a couple times. On one hand this can be taken very simply as a love song, that they're falling in love with each other (what I thought as a child), but that's doing a massive disservice to the central theme of the song. You could also take this as them wanting to be with someone who truly will love them. Wanting someone who will "love me for me." It's easy to see this on the king's side of this song. This is after all a political marriage. The girl could easily be after him for the wealth to secure the health of her kingdom. In which case, it wouldn't be love. So he wants her to love him for who he is as a person, and not to be seen as a source of wealth and stability. But then we get into the pauper's role in this song and this is where the clever writing shines. Since she is posing as the princess, the king doesn't see her for who she truly is. He doesn't know her real identity and fears that he might not love her if he knows that she is a peasant. "Could I be the one you're seeking? Will I be the one you choose? Can you tell my heart is speaking? My eyes will give you clues." These few lines are where her feelings are the clearest. She knows she's not the princess, and doesn't know if she'll still choose her. She wants to tell him, but can't because it will blow her cover. So her only way to communicate it is through her eyes. "Hope will blossom by believing." At this point, she turns to hoping that he'll still choose her. A truly beautiful song.
YES! You took the words right out of my mouth! I was just about to comment a similar thing. Literally brought me to tears when I listened to each lyric in detail not only because of the nostalgia but also because of how this song is meant for the King and the Erica. Little did I knew the true meaning behind this song. Glad I'm not the only one!
This is the only Barbie movie where the story makes sense, things are historically accurate, the love story isn't rushed, the writers took time to make good songs, and there's hardly any magic.

In addition to this being the best Barbie song and the best Barbie movie, I know Princess Anneliese was supposed to marry King Dominick in the first place, but, (I've got to admit really,) Erika and King Dominick are perfect together :) King Dominick and Erika are the best Barbie couple ever!! :)
B3418 Same here haha;; Guys can love the Barbie movies just like anyone else, I don't see what's strange. They're truly works of art and I really love them.
My absolute favorite song from the movie. It feels genuinely romantic and perfectly captures how Erika and Dominick’s relationship is developing. It’s not just saying "I love you"; it’s saying "I’ll be yours forever as long as you love me for who I am." It’s so beautifully written that I can totally see this being played at someone’s wedding.
erica belongs to Dominic and it must be😂😂 glad they married at the end of the movie :") aw miss my childhood when I had a big fight with my friend said that I prefer Erica than Annelise
The fact that Dominic let Erica go not knowing when n if she'll return but still waited for her without knowing how long he'll have to wait is more than any guy can do for a girl i lit fell for him at that moment 😭😭😭
Your comment perfectly matches the line of the song, “Will I be the one you choose?” 🥰 By picking the blue rose it indicates to the viewer that Dominick will choose Erika.
I am a guy who grew up with these movies and songs because I did everything with my sister growing up, who is 19 months older than me. I am 19 now, and I have so much nostalgia for this song in particular. I haven't found my special someone yet, but I guarantee we will be singing this song together someday. UPDATE: Found her :)
Yes...I find it beautiful how this song and their love story is so simple, compared to all the love plots in the series and movies we have nowadays in which everything seems so complicated! I enjoy the genuineness of those two (how ironic, I know! she's litterally hiding her true identity XP). I'm a young adult, yet I still enjoy this song! >
i'm glad i grew up with Barbie instead of technology edit: i'm well aware of what i watched it on, but i meant that i'm glad i grew up not playing an ipad, a phone, etc. but watching movies that i hold very near and dear to my heart.
During that bit where they sing together, it feels like Erica is acknowledging how unrealistic Dominic's promise of "always being as one" is (maybe partially because she's only pretending to be the princess and knows deep down it's only a matter of time before she's caught), but even so she'll stay by his side as long as time permits. IT'S SO ROMANTIC
I miss barbie movies like this. Now and days it all about the barbie that lives on a beech with cellphones and groups of friends. I like old barbies. Ones with a good storyline that had morals and true love. Wish they would've kept this concept. ♡♡
I remember singing along to this in my living room when I was younger, and after I finished, my Daddy turned around in his computer chair and applauded. That made me so happy. Great memories.
Im 20+ year old guy who grew up with classic barbie cartoons and songs because I have younger sister. She always wanted to be a princess and most of the life i was helping her chasing her dreams. When I was young I did not understand how well written those movies are and most od the time i thought about those movies as "kids movies". Not that long ago I started singing in church choir and when i listended few girls singing i told them that they sound like from barbie movie. From this moment i could not help myself and I searched few songs and it is unbelieveable how beautiful they are. This song and nostalgia motivated to even rewatch princess and pauper. I honestly fell in love with story, message, symbolism, soundtrack... It is not only kids movie it is masterpeace for all generstions and everythime you rewatch movie as you grow older you learn something new. I did not find my soulmate yet but when I find her i want that she loves me for me and I hope that I would be as good for her as Dominic was for Erica. I know that this way of love is possible and one day before sleep I want to tell our kids our fairytale.
this is so wholesome!! i introduced my partner to all my favorite barbie movies this past year, and I LOVE how into them he gets when we watch them together!🥺💖 He bought me the original Princess & the Pauper DVD that came with the "Bonus Music Disc" that has the OST on it, and now whenever we go run errands together I'll play the CD on repeat in the car and sometimes he sings along with me!!! 💕💗💖😄🥰 and this past winter when his siblings visited for the holidays, we all watched movies together until really late at night and I got to choose this movie to show all his siblings and their partners, lmao! It was a big hit 😆🎉😁✨
Since middle school I knew this song, it set the first requirement of how I choose my future husband. I spent hours dreaming, singing and rewatching certain parts of the movie - this song was one of them. As how much beautiful this movie is, as much my gratitude toward the whole production team, whose work unknowingly weave into my character. Silly little me practiced manner and etiquette of how to be a "fake" princess, listened to written in your heart when I struggled. I still dream of finding someone who loves me for me, rather than how well I perform in life or other reasons. The place where I'll never leave I don't know the plan of God, but once I have children, they'll watch it with me (as part of education )
I am 22yrs old and I still love this film...this song is so lovely and I dont feel embarrassed singing along to it...I really need to watch it again ♡♥♡
What makes it even deeper is that they deliberately aren’t just making promises right away, they are talking about the POSSIBILITY of love and saying if you love me for who I am, we can create something good.
When dominic sings "I'll be yours together we shall always be as one if you love me for me" that is my favorite part other then when barbie and dominic are singing 2 different lines at the same time
Everyone keeps saying they are 20 and still love this, or 17 an still love this. No shock there guys lol theses movies are great, im probably going to love them when im 90
Honestly, barbie movies are 10x better than disney princess movie during its time. The life lessons and moral it teaches. I only watched until the musketeers because it started to become modern and i didnt like it but i grow up with barbie movies since its first release nutcracker. The Barbie character is always strong and usually calm with wit. So she looks dignified and still amazing yet graceful. You dont need to be rough and act like a man to be brave or amazing, which i think made me who I am today. Its also not simply looking pretty or fall from first sight. The male leads fall for Barbie usually because they notice her personality and kindness and other amazing features. You really dont notice this until you're grown up to see how nicely written Barbie's stories are.
Do you misunderstand? Actually, the story of Barbie The Three Musketeers is a demonstration of following the dreams that the story says. Sometimes people have to chase their dreams even though everyone says it's impossible. That's it, and that's just a sign of feminism.
I'm going to make a mental note to have this played at my wedding someday. It's probably my favorite song in the whole film, and probably one of the most beautiful. I could listen to it a hundred times over and still love it as much as the very first time I heard it.
This song never made more sense until now. Growing up in an era of flip phones, I only ever had the luxury of playing with Barbie dolls or rewatching several Barbie movies. Yet I never understood the deep implication behind the lyrics. This particular song best befits Erica and Dominic's situation as they both are place in a position of uncertainty. Erica, of course, is in love with Dominic but knowing that her outer appearance is Analese, she hoped he sincerely loved her real self. From Dominic's perspective, he is aware that Analese is in this marriage for political purposes. He hoped he is loved for who he is as a person as opposed to his status, a king. Hence "If you love me for me" Y'all don't ask me why I wrote this essay. This barbie movie is my favorite among the rest and I had to comment on at least one of the very many song clips on youtube 😌
I'm pretty sure if they slapped a Disney label on this twelve years ago, people would have called the movie a masterpiece. It's just so underrated cause it's a Barbie movie.
My friend and I have sung every song in this movie since it came out. Now we are 17 and still know all the words. The best older Barbie movie. Now Princess Charm School is my favorite
Even at the age of 31, i'm still watching these Barbie movies and still have most of their songs in my playlist. It brings so much nostalgia to me, realizing how innocent I was as I child because I did not understand the meanings of these songs at all. Those old Barbie movies are amazing, they will always be my all time favorite.
@@arlo4294 if you compare this song's lyrics to i see the light, they are different idk why people are bullying tangled, i bet they never watched the movie
@@arlo4294 yes yes, what im trying to say is both songs are unique if you love me for me - i will be with you if you love me i see the light - my life was a blur until i met you

I love the older Barbie movies!!!! They were my childhood!! And I don't feel any shame coming back as a teenager and listening to these songs!!!! New Barbie isn't anywhere near as good as the older ones!!!
The plot is better in the classic cause they weren't just made cause we needed a new movie but they have a meaning behind them that people can relate to
Real talk, Barbie got me into ballet (the Nutcracker and Swan Lake are my dream productions because of her) and so much of who I aspire to be came from Barbie that I'm not even close to ashamed to say I'm 17 and still can quote some of these movies by heart... And let's be real, this song is just perfect for a wedding
This Barbie movie holds a special place in my heart. Just envisioning a live-action remake of it makes me feel excited. Can you imagine how wonderful that would be?
I had an old barbie movie marathon the other day, and I learned most of what I know from those movies, im really grateful actually. And I cant get this song out of my head tbh (im 14 btw)
I'm turning 21 next week and still listening this tonight , it brings my heart at peace to feel that innocent and happy feeling I once felt each time I watched Barbie :) I'll always come back to this kind of stuff that gives me confidence to face life even if its a child movie !
*cough cough* doctor help! I'm sick! Doctor: alright what seems to be the problem? Me: I am getting flashbacks of great moments in my life and I am getting emotional Doctor: wow you have the worst case of childhood I've ever seen!
since i get older i felt like everything is so stuck. but when i accept myself , i enjoy more. it was all i feel the same since my father alive. thank you so much for bringing good memory to me
I'm that girl who used to ship Dominick with Anneliese... yeah (I was like, 7?) But of course I'm now 18 and, boy, did I come to realize all about this love stuff!
This is iconic and so beautiful, I am crying my eyes out, I am so nostalgic right now. These were the most wonderful and magical Barbie movies, I loved them so much as a little kid and I still am obsessed with them! The old Barbie can't even be compared to the new ones!! 💕💕💕
This song popped into my head one time while I was in my Grandma's car and I sang it to myself very softly however my mother and grandma heard it and said "that's a nice song Eleanor, where did you hear that from?" I said "a film" "which film?" "The princess and the pauper" "how lovely"
I need to sing this song with my future wife at our wedding, this song just never fails to make me feel the love grow between them even through their percieved barriers. She's putting up a front unknowing if he will love her when he discovers her "flaws" and secret(s). He knows this marriage is set up to help her and still wants her to love him not just for what he can provide for her, but for who he is as a person. Just beautiful and I will never get over the perfection of this movie and I will never stop listing to it's AMAZING soundtrack❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I know this is like several years old. BUT why is it that this song pops up in my feed every year and then I get the sudden urge to go back and watch the movie- totally not complaining though 😂

I used to watch it with my younger sister, now I'm 24 and still singing to this lol. This barbie movie is the best imo.
It definitely is one of the good ones.
love zuly
I want to play this at my wedding
Simran Bajaj haha me too
Gurlll sameeee 💕💕💕💕💕💕

Omg SAME
Me too but I'm not sure if I'm going to get married 😂
My absolute favorite song from the movie.
It feels genuinely romantic and perfectly captures how Erika and Dominick’s relationship is developing.
It’s not just saying "I love you"; it’s saying "I’ll be yours forever as long as you love me for who I am."
It’s so beautifully written that I can totally see this being played at someone’s wedding.
who had a crush on Dominick say Aye cause I did
I still do
Ayeeee lol
Ayeayeayeee
If there be someone that similar to him in reality , I will totally be crazy😂😍😍
I had a crush on Julian lol
Sorry but Erica and Dominic are amazing together even though they are fictional
Tasha P ship them
erica belongs to Dominic and it must be😂😂 glad they married at the end of the movie :") aw miss my childhood when I had a big fight with my friend said that I prefer Erica than Annelise
the shoes that jimin hangingonatreeinspringday me toooooo!! I prefer Erica than Anneliese❤️
Yes they are my favourite couple
Yesss ❤️
The fact that Dominic let Erica go not knowing when n if she'll return but still waited for her without knowing how long he'll have to wait is more than any guy can do for a girl i lit fell for him at that moment 😭😭😭
"I will wait, I will wait for you. And I will wait, I will wait for you."
the best part in this scene was when king dominic gave erika a blue rose in a garden of pink roses
Hope you find your special someone soon!
Omg that's so cute! I'd love it if we sang this together ❤️ even tho I can't sing lol whoever winds up being your gf is lucky for real
Me too 🤣 I was 5 when I first heard it then I lived it automatically 🤣 and now I am 11 and finally found it today🤣
Wait that's so ducking adorable-
i'm glad i grew up with Barbie instead of technology
edit: i'm well aware of what i watched it on, but i meant that i'm glad i grew up not playing an ipad, a phone, etc. but watching movies that i hold very near and dear to my heart.
Me too.
ye i feel bad for my cousins theyre 4 years old right now
I grew up with Barbie and Technology.
Lily Angel Hemmings Barbie exists because of technology 😂 But I get what you mean
Lily Angel Hemmings Goo for you 👍🏾
it's just like Disney movies,
YOUR NEVER TOO OLD TO WATCH IT!
agreed
CadanceHarmony Mhm
Barbie movies surpass though...at least the old ones do
When people judge 16 year old girls for still liking Barbie movies but grown men like my little pony. LMAO WHAT KIND OF LOGIC ?
TRUE ME RN
I know 32 year old women who love barbie, like...who cares! People like what they like.
👍👍👍
Hats off to u! 👍👍👌👏
ikr XD
During that bit where they sing together, it feels like Erica is acknowledging how unrealistic Dominic's promise of "always being as one" is (maybe partially because she's only pretending to be the princess and knows deep down it's only a matter of time before she's caught), but even so she'll stay by his side as long as time permits.

I miss barbie movies like this. Now and days it all about the barbie that lives on a beech with cellphones and groups of friends. I like old barbies. Ones with a good storyline that had morals and true love. Wish they would've kept this concept. ♡♡
a song for my future husband
YESSSS!!!! They say Barbie is shit when THE SONGS SPEAK THE TRUTH!!! IF THEY JUST LISTEN TO THE LYRICS!!!

I remember singing along to this in my living room when I was younger, and after I finished, my Daddy turned around in his computer chair and applauded. That made me so happy. Great memories.
This is so cute
I want this played at my wedding I'm 100% serious
Same! And Shine from the 12 dancing princesses
+CadanceHarmony yes!!
CadanceHarmony but that might be for the Quinceanera

I'm just like you!!!
The place where I'll never leave
I don't know the plan of God, but once I have children, they'll watch it with me (as part of education )

Kirsty Dodgson thank you for being awesome.
This should be the best barbie movie ever. Even the soundtracks too.
Yes! The princess and pop star was a princess and the pauper rip off
@@lunaeclipse5612 yeah I hated it a little because of that
Can we all agree this song is absolutely beautiful😍😍😍😍😍😍
Yes!!!
yea!❤💕🎤🎶
What makes it even deeper is that they deliberately aren’t just making promises right away, they are talking about the POSSIBILITY of love and saying if you love me for who I am, we can create something good.
This song honestly soothes my soul. And I'm not ashamed of listening to it over and over again.
Same
Dang it. This song just hits all the right spots. I feel like crying lol growing up SUCKS. I miss my childhood x
Agreed now i can't listen or see thoses movies without someone laughing at me
SAME THO I COULDNT AGREE WITH YOU MORE 😭❤️🙌🏼💯
Growing up sucks indeed. Wish I could be little again
When dominic sings "I'll be yours together we shall always be as one if you love me for me" that is my favorite part other then when barbie and dominic are singing 2 different lines at the same time
Yeah that part is gorgeous
Mine too!
Everyone keeps saying they are 20 and still love this, or 17 an still love this. No shock there guys lol theses movies are great, im probably going to love them when im 90
I'm not just crying for the melody, the lyrics or even the situation but also I would cry for my childhood.
True
Do you misunderstand? Actually, the story of Barbie The Three Musketeers is a demonstration of following the dreams that the story says. Sometimes people have to chase their dreams even though everyone says it's impossible. That's it, and that's just a sign of feminism.
@@รวินท์มาศเชษฐสุมน no i just dont like their outfits. its ugly and looking modern like.
best song in the whole universe dont fight me on this
i fucking agreeeee xxxxx 😭😭😭😭
What about Free?

I'm going to make a mental note to have this played at my wedding someday. It's probably my favorite song in the whole film, and probably one of the most beautiful. I could listen to it a hundred times over and still love it as much as the very first time I heard it.
my thoughts exactly! i'm going through barbie music and at this rate, half my wedding will be solely them!
Hence "If you love me for me"
Y'all don't ask me why I wrote this essay. This barbie movie is my favorite among the rest and I had to comment on at least one of the very many song clips on youtube 😌
Princess and the Pauper was actually such a good movie.
I'm pretty sure if they slapped a Disney label on this twelve years ago, people would have called the movie a masterpiece. It's just so underrated cause it's a Barbie movie.

Me too, it makes me tear up 😭
Even though I’m not even close to getting married, this is going on a wedding playlist to be played at my future wedding reception.
I swear to god I still love a bit of barbie and I'm 15, this should be my wedding song I love this 💕💁🏻

The Original Version of "I see the Lights" from Tangled.

and its unrelated to this song
@@gaychastudiossucks5109 I think she means the romantic aspect, I see the light and this song is them falling in love.

As a guy, I always love 2000s Barbie movies. Princess and the Pauper, Diamond Castle, and Christmas Carol steal my hearr.
That was the same with me!! Oh my god, wow!
the lyrics hit different when you remember that erica is in disguise during this scene, she's in fact not a royal but in poverty. like "what you see may be deceiving, truth lies underneath the skin" CMONNNN
This song just literally made me cry.
I love the older Barbie movies!!!! They were my childhood!! And I don't feel any shame coming back as a teenager and listening to these songs!!!! New Barbie isn't anywhere near as good as the older ones!!!
Yeah, the classic were beautiful. The story line, the animation & the romance is better in the classic ones.
+It's Nunya well i wouldn't necessarily say the animation is better, but the character designs are by a long shot!
The plot is better in the classic cause they weren't just made cause we needed a new movie but they have a meaning behind them that people can relate to
GeeklyChic Exactly!!! That was perfectly put!!!
me too!!
When Barbie series have more heart touching lyrics than hit albums of today
This Barbie movie holds a special place in my heart. Just envisioning a live-action remake of it makes me feel excited. Can you imagine how wonderful that would be?
Brilliant it would be absolutely brilliant

I'm turning 21 next week and still listening this tonight , it brings my heart at peace to feel that innocent and happy feeling I once felt each time I watched Barbie :) I'll always come back to this kind of stuff that gives me confidence to face life even if its a child movie !
The message and lyrics are incredible! 😭
It’s been a decade and 7 years yet I still memorize this song. How nostalgic ❤️

Princess and the pauper could be made into a theatrical musical, I'd pay to see that! :D
I'm that girl who used to ship Dominick with Anneliese... yeah (I was like, 7?)
But of course I'm now 18 and, boy, did I come to realize all about this love stuff!

back in the days when love songs were actually about true love instead of just lust like today's radio... * sniff

This is iconic and so beautiful, I am crying my eyes out, I am so nostalgic right now. These were the most wonderful and magical Barbie movies, I loved them so much as a little kid and I still am obsessed with them! The old Barbie can't even be compared to the new ones!! 💕💕💕
I have no idea why this is on my recommendation but I’m happy it is .
Who else is on a Barbie songs Marathon?😩❤️
Me! Can you still sing along with all of them even though you haven't heard them in years? I can because these movies are my childhood!
Me!!!😂🙋
MEEEEEE 🤸 HOW DID YOU KNOW?????!!!!!
Meeeee lol, this is my whole childhood.😂💕
All these years later, and this song still makes me emotional.
This song popped into my head one time while I was in my Grandma's car and I sang it to myself very softly however my mother and grandma heard it and said "that's a nice song Eleanor, where did you hear that from?" I said "a film" "which film?" "The princess and the pauper" "how lovely"
this will play at my wedding. so excited!!
I'm 19 and this brings back so many memories for me as one of many girls that grew up with the classic Barbie films of the 2000s.
Please bring back this kind of barbie movies🤧
Songs like this are why I'll never settle for less
Out of all the barbie I have watched this is by far the most and the best barbie I have ever watch in my entire freagin life.
I know this is like several years old. BUT why is it that this song pops up in my feed every year and then I get the sudden urge to go back and watch the movie- totally not complaining though 😂
