Pyrrha was my favourite character too, back when it was first coming out. Penny was definitely one of my favourites too. The ending of season 3, and the passing of Monty, made it really hard to watch RWBY. I took a break from the show for about 2 years, then decided I wanted to catch up when season 6 was releasing.

Also, to answer your question about Velvet: her camera lets her create a copy of whatever weapon she takes a picture of using Dust, and her Semblance allows her to perfectly mimic the fighting style of the user of that weapon if she's seen them fight. The only downside is that the copies don't last very long, and as soon as they're gone, she has to take another picture if she wants to use that weapon again.
I love the reaction! I would highly recommend now listening to the soundtracks for each volume. Unlike many songs for shows, RWBY's songs actually tell stories, backstories, and in depth descriptions of specific scenes. For example, did you know the song for the Black Trailer actually revealed that Blake was a Faunus even before the show came out! There is also a trailer character short for volume 4 that shows an event before the volume :)

Velvet's fight is one of the best points of these last episodes. And when Weiss came to rescue Velvet, a faunus (remember Weiss had really despised this race), oh boy! I have watched the volume 3 many times and am still sad whenever I see Pyrrha and Penny die. Ambivalent toward Roman, who will do what he does best: "lie, steal, cheat and survi..." *nom nom* He was a bad guy, but also Neo's Dum-Dum. Watch RWBY Chibi now, it will heal you up, some.
Pyrrha's fate is alluded to in the Vol 3 intro. In the shot where Team RWBY and JNPR are shown skydiving in a ring formation, Pyrrha lets go first and flies off into oblivion. The first time I saw that, I took a death flag out of storage and started unfolding it, knowing it would be running up the pole before too long.

Man when I heard her say that Pyrrha and Penny were two of her favorites I couldn’t help but just smh knowing what was to come. But welcome to the RWBY fandom. It’s a wild rollercoaster full of ups and downs but lots of banger music and just an enjoyable ride all around. Can’t wait to see your reactions to the following seasons especially Vol9 and hopefully even the new crossover movie JL x RWBY although wait til after season 7 to watch it ATLEAST. Ive been a huge fan of this series since the beginning so it’s awesome to see people still discovering it even now.
What Torchwick said to Ruby on the ship is an apt description of the tone of the show after Volume 3. The days of happy-go-lucky protagonists having fun saving the world are over. The game has changed, and people can die on both sides. Now the punches come hard, fast, and with little to no respite. This pain is just beginning. Torchwick had it right, the real world is cold and doesn't care about spirit. And with the end of Volume 3, RWBY enters the real world.
My absolutely favorite part of this volume is the Paladin battle, when Velvet shows her semblance and Weiss summons the Arma Gigas arm (it’s the big Grimm armor she kills in the White Trailer). AND the scenes plays my favorite song in the Soundtrack too.
Don't know if this makes things better or worse, but for what it's worth, you're definitely not alone in your reaction. I've seen at least 2 reactors who literally stopped watching RWBY because of the finale of V3, and it affects everyone who watches it. Pyrrha was a very, VERY deliberate choice on Monty's part. Pyrrha's inspiration character was Achilles of Greek myth, another tragic hero (he even used the name Pyrrha when his mother disguised him as a girl). Cinder's arrow hit Pyrrha in her Achilles' tendon - for Achilles, the only part of his body susceptible to physical damage. When Jen Brown (Pyrrha's voice actor) was hired, she was told of Pyrrha's fate, and had to keep it a secret for 3 seasons - not an easy task. And Monty specifically wanted Jen to try to make Pyrrha as likable as possible, so that the emotional impact of her death would be as hard as possible for those watching. Why? Monty was a big fan of surprising the audience by giving it an initial impression that would eventually be turned upside down through the actions of the characters (remember Weiss in V1?), and so he wanted everyone to relate to Pyrrha, to make her a favorite character - and then to end her about as brutally as possible for the fans. It was his way of announcing that RWBY really was never intended to be a "kid's show", and that the themes it would explore would deal with very serious subjects. In fact, when these last episodes were originally aired, there was a "mature themes/mature audience" warning put out on social media outlets to give parents a heads-up that they might want to screen the episodes before letting their children watch them. Overall, I'd say Monty succeeded - but I'm still pissed at him for killing off Pyrrha and Penny!

Remember, volumes 1-3 are only part 1 of the series. There are supposed to be 4 parts, 3 volumes each. Part 3 just ended a couple of weeks ago with Volume 9. The next volume is the beginning of the end of the series. Part 1 was the perfect setup for the future seasons, and there will be many callbacks.
Even though I've seen this several times, I still cry at the fall of Beacon. I did it smiling though, because when you paused to process it, I kept giggling because you paused it with Tai's crotch on screen. Don't get me wrong, Tai is a decent father, but I don't wanna see them nuts. (Oh, and about Pyrrah. Don't forget the exact words she said when she unlocked Jaune's aura.)

The fandom was livid at the death of Pyrrha, to the point that the voice actress had to come out and say that she knew it would happen from the start. Since it was something Monty had planned, we all just had to let it go. Those fuckers though, they hinted at it since the beginning. When you watch the vol 3 intro when they're all falling and holding hands, Pyrrha is the one that lets go first. Breaks my damn heart! Another reactor I watched pointed out that when Jaune and his team are on screen, they always leave a space for where Pyrrha would stand, and that just kills me. They never forget her, the story never forgets her. BUT DAMNIT I WANTED HER AND JAUNE TO FALL IN LOVE AJD GET MARRIED AND HAVE KIDS FUUUCK SHE DESERVED THAT HAPPINESS! I feel like you now deeply understand why Qrow is always drunk 😢 Chibi is very silly, it makes some people feel better while others just want to forge ahead to volume 4 and let the characters deal with their own trauma and recovery. Watching this for the first time and i realized she never uploaded again... i hope she's doing okay... the fall of beacon was eventful and emotional and a lot of us took time off before season 4 or 5.. many of us had a year to recoup because we watched it as it released.... the actual start of rwby is the end of season 3
I'm sorry Ciirella... This is a sort of rite of passage for RWBY fans... I would love to promise you it gets better... I think the best way to explain it is the grief doesn't lessen, you simply learn how to live with it. And tbh I am proud that you avoided spoilers for this... Not an easy feat with FNDM (they tend to be bad at spoiling things) I definitely recommend RWBY Chibi as a sort of pallette cleanser...
I find it poetic how the series started with the narrator talking and the "prologue" so to speak, ended with the same person talking. It really made it feel like the end of the beginning.
It would be a shame if you stopped here. I started watching RWBY just after Volume 4 was finished, my son got me into it at the time. Even went to V5 and V6 Episode 1 theatric releases, as Torchwick for v6, my favorite villain (RIP). Many good times lie ahead, check out the Volume 4 trailer for example. The animation engine is a big jump in quality.

Few things i have to say Regarding Roman's death: Some people hate that he went out like that, but I actually love that it was so anticlimactic. He was sputtering negative shit amidst a flock of Grimm, clubbing a defenseless girl and was then targetted by one of them as a result. It's sad to see what happened to Pyrrha. Cinder shot her arrow into Pyrrha's achilles' heel - Achilles was the Greek mythological figure Pyrrha was based on. And Ruby gained a "pyrrhic victory" over Cinder. Also, now that you finished the finale of V3, you can start watching RWBY Chibi season 1! It's like RWBY just in funny and wholesome, more like how V1 was like, but even less serious than that to help you with healing!
Velvet's weapon is Anesidora, a hard-light dust camera. It can recreate any weapon it takes a picture of with hard-light dust. Each copy is one-time use and hard-light dust is expensive so that's why she kept it until now. The reason she has this weapon is her semblance, Photographic Memory. She can recreate any fighting style(probably any movement at all) that she sees.
Why is he half Robot? Because he is the Tin Man. Ozpin is Oz, and Qrow is the Scarecrow. One of the other headmasters is the Cowardly Lion. Just like Pyrrha is Achilles and Nora is Thor while Sun is Sun Wukong.
Now you're one of us now.. depressed and destroyed 🙃 But we need to move forward.. you can continue to Volume 4 or if you want to be cured from this, watch the RWBY Chibi then proceed to Volume 4.. "Wounds heal but Scars remain"

There is a supplementary series called World of Remnant that explain this kind of lore that were originally released alongside the volumes (its first four chapters were released in the "off-weeks" of the show, so after every three chapters of RWBY volume 2 you would have a week with WoR episode instead of normal RWBY). They followed a similar format in Volume 3 (the fifth WoR was released a few weeks before the Volume to build hype and sixth through 8 were released every 3 RWBY volume 2 chapters). Finally, for Volume 4 of RWBY, they released the 9th to 12th WoR the week leading to the Volume premiere and 13th to 16th again every 3 RWBY chapters. In case you are interested, the topics covered in the WoR from Volume 2 were "Dust", "Kingdoms", "Grimm" and "Aura" and the topics covered in the WoR from Volume 3 were "Vytal Festival Tournament", "Huntsmen", "Cross Continental Transmit System" and "The Four Maidens". It is likely that it wasn't mentioned before because for some baffling reason, when they re-released them (replacing the ones that were there before) post volume 7, they chose to use thumbnails that include spoilers from later volumes. As an example, the first four episodes of WoR (which you would usually watch alonside Volume 2) have that lady that was revealed at the end of volume 3 as a thumbnail so... yeah. Even just looking it up in youtube or on the company's site provides spoilers for the series now, which I think hurts the viewer experience instead of complimenting it like they were supposed to. The content is the same, they just.. changed the thumbnails to ones that contain spoilers if you watch them concurrently with the show in the order they were released.
Btw I don't think anyone has told you to watch the World of Remnants videos yet, they are rwby but short videos explaining the world. There's a couple for every season also I think or don't think but suggest that maybe you could listen to the OST's the soundtracks of each volume and react to them with lyrics they really do tell a lot about the characters and the world too. Also keep up the good stuff and we love you. ♥️
Welcome to RWBY! It ia admittedly uneven show, with uos and downs in writing quality, but I genuinely still enjoy all of it. I think mainly becuase it managed to really surprise me quite a few times.
This show will either make you give up or find the strength to keep going. It's tough to face but this is the price of character growth in anime. Hard to believe people think anime is for kids. Most don't get how hard it can be or how sad.

Also, to answer your question about Velvet: her camera lets her create a copy of whatever weapon she takes a picture of using Dust, and her Semblance allows her to perfectly mimic the fighting style of the user of that weapon if she's seen them fight. The only downside is that the copies don't last very long, and as soon as they're gone, she has to take another picture if she wants to use that weapon again.

I would highly recommend now listening to the soundtracks for each volume. Unlike many songs for shows, RWBY's songs actually tell stories, backstories, and in depth descriptions of specific scenes.
For example, did you know the song for the Black Trailer actually revealed that Blake was a Faunus even before the show came out!
There is also a trailer character short for volume 4 that shows an event before the volume :)
For the record: the ship name for Blake and Adam was Beauty and Beast, but after this episode it was changed to Animal Abuse

I have watched the volume 3 many times and am still sad whenever I see Pyrrha and Penny die. Ambivalent toward Roman, who will do what he does best: "lie, steal, cheat and survi..." *nom nom* He was a bad guy, but also Neo's Dum-Dum. Watch RWBY Chibi now, it will heal you up, some.
Pyrrha's fate is alluded to in the Vol 3 intro.
In the shot where Team RWBY and JNPR are shown skydiving in a ring formation, Pyrrha lets go first and flies off into oblivion. The first time I saw that, I took a death flag out of storage and started unfolding it, knowing it would be running up the pole before too long.

Her semblace allows her to mimic any person combat style, while her camera uses a particular dust to make solid light copies of the weapons she took pictures, but using the weapon "burns" the photo and she has to take a new picture to use it again.
Emotional Damage was inflicted, but hope is there everytime. Mounty Oom RIP with RWBY he will be not gone, but in our hearts for ever.

Man when I heard her say that Pyrrha and Penny were two of her favorites I couldn’t help but just smh knowing what was to come. But welcome to the RWBY fandom. It’s a wild rollercoaster full of ups and downs but lots of banger music and just an enjoyable ride all around. Can’t wait to see your reactions to the following seasons especially Vol9 and hopefully even the new crossover movie JL x RWBY although wait til after season 7 to watch it ATLEAST. Ive been a huge fan of this series since the beginning so it’s awesome to see people still discovering it even now.
What Torchwick said to Ruby on the ship is an apt description of the tone of the show after Volume 3.
The days of happy-go-lucky protagonists having fun saving the world are over.
The game has changed, and people can die on both sides.
Now the punches come hard, fast, and with little to no respite.
This pain is just beginning.
Torchwick had it right, the real world is cold and doesn't care about spirit.
And with the end of Volume 3, RWBY enters the real world.
My absolutely favorite part of this volume is the Paladin battle, when Velvet shows her semblance and Weiss summons the Arma Gigas arm (it’s the big Grimm armor she kills in the White Trailer).
AND the scenes plays my favorite song in the Soundtrack too.

Don't know if this makes things better or worse, but for what it's worth, you're definitely not alone in your reaction. I've seen at least 2 reactors who literally stopped watching RWBY because of the finale of V3, and it affects everyone who watches it.
Pyrrha was a very, VERY deliberate choice on Monty's part. Pyrrha's inspiration character was Achilles of Greek myth, another tragic hero (he even used the name Pyrrha when his mother disguised him as a girl). Cinder's arrow hit Pyrrha in her Achilles' tendon - for Achilles, the only part of his body susceptible to physical damage. When Jen Brown (Pyrrha's voice actor) was hired, she was told of Pyrrha's fate, and had to keep it a secret for 3 seasons - not an easy task. And Monty specifically wanted Jen to try to make Pyrrha as likable as possible, so that the emotional impact of her death would be as hard as possible for those watching.
Why? Monty was a big fan of surprising the audience by giving it an initial impression that would eventually be turned upside down through the actions of the characters (remember Weiss in V1?), and so he wanted everyone to relate to Pyrrha, to make her a favorite character - and then to end her about as brutally as possible for the fans. It was his way of announcing that RWBY really was never intended to be a "kid's show", and that the themes it would explore would deal with very serious subjects. In fact, when these last episodes were originally aired, there was a "mature themes/mature audience" warning put out on social media outlets to give parents a heads-up that they might want to screen the episodes before letting their children watch them.
Overall, I'd say Monty succeeded - but I'm still pissed at him for killing off Pyrrha and Penny!

Remember, volumes 1-3 are only part 1 of the series. There are supposed to be 4 parts, 3 volumes each. Part 3 just ended a couple of weeks ago with Volume 9. The next volume is the beginning of the end of the series.
Part 1 was the perfect setup for the future seasons, and there will be many callbacks.
Even though I've seen this several times, I still cry at the fall of Beacon. I did it smiling though, because when you paused to process it, I kept giggling because you paused it with Tai's crotch on screen. Don't get me wrong, Tai is a decent father, but I don't wanna see them nuts.

Oh you poor sweet baby angel -pats-welcome to the fandom my love 💕 if you decide to keep watching I promise that it's a good show after this. It's much darker, but there are some good times. The fandom was livid at the death of Pyrrha, to the point that the voice actress had to come out and say that she knew it would happen from the start. Since it was something Monty had planned, we all just had to let it go. Those fuckers though, they hinted at it since the beginning. When you watch the vol 3 intro when they're all falling and holding hands, Pyrrha is the one that lets go first. Breaks my damn heart! Another reactor I watched pointed out that when Jaune and his team are on screen, they always leave a space for where Pyrrha would stand, and that just kills me. They never forget her, the story never forgets her. BUT DAMNIT I WANTED HER AND JAUNE TO FALL IN LOVE AJD GET MARRIED AND HAVE KIDS FUUUCK SHE DESERVED THAT HAPPINESS! SHE DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER AND I SWEAR TO FUCK I WILL NEVER GET OVER THIS 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Chibi is very silly, it makes some people feel better while others just want to forge ahead to volume 4 and let the characters deal with their own trauma and recovery. Choose what's right for you. (Didja notice Qrow is carrying Ozpin's cane?)
Watching this for the first time and i realized she never uploaded again... i hope she's doing okay... the fall of beacon was eventful and emotional and a lot of us took time off before season 4 or 5.. many of us had a year to recoup because we watched it as it released.... the actual start of rwby is the end of season 3

I'm sorry Ciirella... This is a sort of rite of passage for RWBY fans... I would love to promise you it gets better... I think the best way to explain it is the grief doesn't lessen, you simply learn how to live with it. And tbh I am proud that you avoided spoilers for this... Not an easy feat with FNDM (they tend to be bad at spoiling things) I definitely recommend RWBY Chibi as a sort of pallette cleanser...
I find it poetic how the series started with the narrator talking and the "prologue" so to speak, ended with the same person talking. It really made it feel like the end of the beginning.
It would be a shame if you stopped here. I started watching RWBY just after Volume 4 was finished, my son got me into it at the time. Even went to V5 and V6 Episode 1 theatric releases, as Torchwick for v6, my favorite villain (RIP). Many good times lie ahead, check out the Volume 4 trailer for example. The animation engine is a big jump in quality.

Few things i have to say
Regarding Roman's death: Some people hate that he went out like that, but I actually love that it was so anticlimactic. He was sputtering negative shit amidst a flock of Grimm, clubbing a defenseless girl and was then targetted by one of them as a result.
It's sad to see what happened to Pyrrha. Cinder shot her arrow into Pyrrha's achilles' heel - Achilles was the Greek mythological figure Pyrrha was based on. And Ruby gained a "pyrrhic victory" over Cinder.
Also, now that you finished the finale of V3, you can start watching RWBY Chibi season 1! It's like RWBY just in funny and wholesome, more like how V1 was like, but even less serious than that to help you with healing!

Velvet's weapon is Anesidora, a hard-light dust camera. It can recreate any weapon it takes a picture of with hard-light dust. Each copy is one-time use and hard-light dust is expensive so that's why she kept it until now. The reason she has this weapon is her semblance, Photographic Memory. She can recreate any fighting style(probably any movement at all) that she sees.

There is a supplementary series called World of Remnant that explain this kind of lore that were originally released alongside the volumes (its first four chapters were released in the "off-weeks" of the show, so after every three chapters of RWBY volume 2 you would have a week with WoR episode instead of normal RWBY). They followed a similar format in Volume 3 (the fifth WoR was released a few weeks before the Volume to build hype and sixth through 8 were released every 3 RWBY volume 2 chapters). Finally, for Volume 4 of RWBY, they released the 9th to 12th WoR the week leading to the Volume premiere and 13th to 16th again every 3 RWBY chapters.
In case you are interested, the topics covered in the WoR from Volume 2 were "Dust", "Kingdoms", "Grimm" and "Aura" and the topics covered in the WoR from Volume 3 were "Vytal Festival Tournament", "Huntsmen", "Cross Continental Transmit System" and "The Four Maidens". It is likely that it wasn't mentioned before because for some baffling reason, when they re-released them (replacing the ones that were there before) post volume 7, they chose to use thumbnails that include spoilers from later volumes. As an example, the first four episodes of WoR (which you would usually watch alonside Volume 2) have that lady that was revealed at the end of volume 3 as a thumbnail so... yeah. Even just looking it up in youtube or on the company's site provides spoilers for the series now, which I think hurts the viewer experience instead of complimenting it like they were supposed to. The content is the same, they just.. changed the thumbnails to ones that contain spoilers if you watch them concurrently with the show in the order they were released.

There's a couple for every season also I think or don't think but suggest that maybe you could listen to the OST's the soundtracks of each volume and react to them with lyrics they really do tell a lot about the characters and the world too.

Welcome to RWBY! It ia admittedly uneven show, with uos and downs in writing quality, but I genuinely still enjoy all of it. I think mainly becuase it managed to really surprise me quite a few times.
This show will either make you give up or find the strength to keep going. It's tough to face but this is the price of character growth in anime. Hard to believe people think anime is for kids. Most don't get how hard it can be or how sad.
