Well you nailed this one! The front office is the problem. This Dallas Mavericks team could literally have been: Brunson, Luka, Desmond Bane, Harrison Barnes, Christian Wood, Dwight Powell, Maxi Kleber, DFS, Bullock, & Jaden Hardy with a ton more flexibility/options in the 5 other spots. Instead the front office passed on Bane for Josh Green (Which was a huge talking point back then if you remember. Everyone was saying draft Bane.) After losing Brunson for nothing, they REALLY had their backs against the wall because they didn't have many positive assets to trade and they couldn't even shed bad contracts for cap space. Now I do think trading for Kyrie was a good strategy. They got off both Dinwiddie & DFS's long term contract, and while both were very well-liked in Dallas (very solid starters,) they both are pushing 30. Neither was going to win you a title, nor would they make big improvements in their game. That did cost them a draft pick, but at least now they have options. If they resign Kyrie (hopefully for a reasonable contract,) they now know they HAVE to trade/build a roster around their game. What they have just wont work, but they do have two of the hardest thing for any team to get... all star first team starters. Luka & Kryie will be the best backcourt in the NBA once they get comfortable. Put some versatile defensive wings who can knock down threes at a high clip and for the love of god!!!! Bring in a defensive center who can rebound & block shots. If he wants to out, it's in his best interest to sign & trade. None of that would get you butler both bc Miami not even picking up the phone, and bc multiple other teams would crush the offer. Portland being one without a doubt

Four year 55... For Jalen Brunson. Mavs as an org deserve all the L's they are taking. I hope Luka sees that there is no hope for progress there and asks for a trade. Mavs have a history of failing at building a competent roster or holding on to good players.

That lbj take is bad. He couldn't have worked next to russ. Even if it was prime russ. Luka isn't inherently wrong an impossible player to play with. It's the way the mavs utilize him in offense. No excuses now. They finally have a star secondary ball handler and the mavs simply don't deserve luka anymore
Kyrie is not the problem; Kyrie+ Luca is the problem. They are not a fit, they are not a match; they are too similar and so they clash. I said they would clash the day the trade was announced and, well, they clash!
Someone needs to let Doncic know this isn't Slovenia or Euro League anymore. NBA players sacrifice their mental and physical well being to get that ring. He is the only star that doesn't take care of his physical conditioning and loses steam under pressure, looking for others to blame (his own players or the refs). Talent alone cannot win, work does. If Dallas trades right now they can get a good deal
Here's the main issue with Dallas and cap space: they NEVER sign any big name free agents. Resign their current talent, sure, but never do we see big names on the market go to Dallas. That cap space will 100% be wasted on mediocre role players if Dallas were to get it.
Teams never learn that making a “win now” move too prematurely never works out. One example I could think of is when AD was with the Pels. They traded for Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans and others. But they never got anywhere.
4:27 LOL I remember watching that game where Luka tore his jersey...I was like 'what the...guess he's a little frustrated' my what time REALLY showed with Luka's development or lack thereof
Dallas was 20-14 in clutch games before Kyrie trade( tied for first in the league) 5-14 since.THE TRADE DID NOT WORK. Cuban traded the farm to rent Kyrie. Had an engine problem and went and got new rims and tires instead.
The Mavericks had two options this season make the playoffs and get swept, and that's with Dinwiddie and DFS or take a risk and trade for Kyrie and try to out score everyone and maybe, maybe win a series and keep Luka happy for next season either way this Mavs team was so inconsistent they had to do something. I hate the mavs lost Brunson, but even if he was still on the team this season, it doesn't fix the Mavs' paint defense and rebounding issues. DFS, Dinwiddie, or Brunson was not fixing the Mavs issues this season or future seasons. As far as Luka goes, he knows how he is. The fact is that as long as he plays as an MVP, Luka is going to be Luka, and the guy is humble and cocky at the same time, sprinkling in crybaby to the mix. Mavs will be okay. In the best case scenario, Luka gets the team that gives the mavs a chip. In the worst case, mavs get a butt load of picks and players for Luka.
I think the coaches and leadership need to press the players to be better. Green, Hardy, Bullock, Wood, Hardaway, Doncic, they're all inconsistent. I don't think they should resign Irving, his offense, mental and physical health are one of the most inconsistent out there, he just accentuate the issues of the Mavs.
Many didn't see the problem coming. If you watch Luka during the Allstars week, He was terrible. He gained too much weight, and he played like he didn't even care and lazy. This was a slow and steady process. But this is the results. Irving is trying to allow Luka to stay the dominant player. But Irving is also tired of losing.
Kyrie is not the problem, they need defense and shooting. Also he is not immature. This dude has been playing and winning since 16 year old, he cannot tolerate incompetence. And Dallas reeks of incompetence. The front office and the coach are so bad. Well, let's hope he leaves and comes to LA after Lebron leaves.
I find Kyrie to be well spoken in his post game interviews. His teammates love him. You are right that he can't tolerate incompetence. If he stays I see him becoming the leader of this team and they become contenders again as long as they get a better center.
Luka, always needed defensive minded players around him. He's a point guard. He doesn't need a point guard. He can defend point guards in the paint and okay on the perimeter. He needs, defensive wings, and a rim protector. He needs two way players. All the top teams except nuggets and 76ers are full of two way players.
i feel mavericks should had gone for OG Anouby. OG is not one who needs the ball, he can play m,ultiple position and defend greatly. a perfect fit for Luka.
Jaylen Brown came out and said the article took things out of context and made several comments stating he's happy here (particularly referring to the fact that we're dominating the league along the bucks so why leave)
The problem is Luka as much as Mav fans don't want to hear it ! He's like Kobe was when Shaq left always trying to score the majority of points on the team leaving his teammates disengaged until he realized he needed to become more of a team player and he won his title without Shaq . Luka is like an little kid crying about everything ! That franchises failier to succeed falls on him more than anything else !
The front office moves have been perplexing - there biggest mistake of bringing of all was bringing Kyrie. If you step back and look at the big picture it is obvious that every team he is on goes from good to a disaster. People look past this because his numbers are always big and efficient however there is losing everywhere he goes - not just losing but dumpster fire losing. Ditches the Cavs when they were still very much in contention - Celtics go from the ECF to the definition of disfunction - promises a full arena he is all in then bounces - goes to the Nets - fist thing he does is undermine the coach - recruits his buddies and over steps the management - they give him what he wants and the team once again becomes the most disfunctional in all of sports. He goes to the Mavs and they become disfunctional. He isn't saying it but Luka was not happy with them brining in another guy who essentially plays his position - his attitude has gone downhill. Kyrie sucks the oxygen out of every building he walks into. The fact he is such a good player is the exact reason why he ruins franchises. Kyrie will never win again without prime LeBron. I will be surprised if anyone gambles on him again however if they do - rest assured history WILL repeat itself. I think this guy is one of the biggest bum teammates in all of sports so I get a little frustrated when people absolve him from blame because he and dribble and shoots well - it goes way deeper than that.
Personally I would say a better example pf getting lucky in the draft and still not having anything to show for it would be the Thunder. Three years in a row they draft future MVPs only to have two of them wanted to be traded and one leaving the team outright in free agency
I still shudder at the James Harden Trade. They could have had 3 MVPs and Serge Ibaka as a core for years to come. Instead they played cheap. I can't wait until Seattle gets the Sonics back and takes back their team history.
Kyrie is a major problem because he doesn't defend and refuses to be a playmaker for others. When he played for the cavs they sat him down and asked him to be a pass first pg. He got pissed but gave in...for a week he averaged 10 assists a game and the cavs went undefeated but then he snapped and told reporters that he was going to be himself. From that moment on his time in Cleveland was numbered and culminated with him even being benched in the playoffs because of poor play. Now he is old, and his game doesn't translate as well in a league where so many people can score.
The fact that this guy thinks letting Jalen Brunson go, cost them a trip to a deep playoff run is absurd. No credibility whatsoever. I’m happy to be proven wrong, but, let’s see how the Brunson led knicks go in the playoffs.
The only person that Luka will ever be good playing alongside is going to be a Quick Bigman. Someone that isn’t stealing his playmaking and fast break scoring, but someone that gets a lot of rebounds and plays a crazy amount of defense. I still think what’s smartest is if Dallas Resigns Kyrie in a sign a trade and they get a player like Abedayo or Draymond Green
Mavs were winning before Kyrie, not only that they stopped winning they've gotten a lot worse. Luka played well with Brunson and had no problem sharing the ball.
Kyrie is not the problem. The problem will always be those big guys who need to help Luka in the rebounding department, as well as on the defensive end. Kyrie is there to take off loads in Luka's shoulder, but the problems are on the big guys. Woods is a decent player, but he should be at the 4 spot, not in the 5 spot. If they could just acquire a Tyson Chandler type of a player, I think that is enough for them to even advance in the 2md round, I mean, if they could still make it in the play ins.
You don’t need another star around Luka, give him good role players and they are good. A defensive minded big and a good 3&D guy. Hardy looks great and can be the secondary ballhandler. The role players are the problem in Dallas, not Kyrie and not Luka.
It’s rough, going from the WCF against the eventual champion GSW to probably not even making the play-in. Brunson was disrespected like crazy. Look at the Knicks. Cuban needs to let the GM do his job.
Dallas is actually in the best position in years. Let kyrie walk and sign jerami grant and caris levert this off-season and trade for Jusuf nurkic from Portland. With luka leading away this a championship team. The only superstar that fits well with luka would be kwahi or kd
Brown to Houston will never happen. Brown says complimentary things of everyone, he is the VP of the Players Association. I personally don't believe Brown will leave the Celtics at all. All this was over a rumor they were going to trade him, however once he gets his next contract the Celtics can offer more and I don't see any signs he is Unhappy in Boston. I believe the chatter is just that, needless chatter.
Why would Boston do that? They would lose their defense, destroy the system and bring in a ball hog that does not know how to play organized bball but rather dominate the ball
As much as I love the idea of Kyrie coming to Philly, we don’t need him. Maxey has been balling and I think it would be a slap in the face once again to him to have him come off the bench. He’s already shown humbleness and humility to do it before, I don’t think he should have to do it again
The biggest difference between LeBron and Luka is LeBron was a hip, young black man playing in a major metro area and drawing huge money. Luka looks like a barely in shape guy torching teams at the civic center. Plus he's white playing in Dallas That's the difference
Mark Cuban is the problem. Don't hire a GM if he's the one making decisions. You hire a GM for a reason. Mark has tons and tons of money but that doesn't mean he can build a team.
Lukas got crazy maturing to do, but offense was never the problem w the mavericks. Adding porzingus was dumb, offensive big man. They need a solid defensive big man
“Is Kyrie that much of an upgrade over Spencer Dinwiddie?” -Question Spencer Dinwiddie (and only Spencer Dinwiddie) has been asking himself since 2020. 🤣
Man y'all are tripping. All we need is a great defense/rebounding big man who can finish at the basket. Whether it's through the draft or a trade it can be done. To me Brook Lopez by himself can fill that role. Keep Luca, Irving plus the remaining cast, scrape up some change and get Lopez or draft a top 10 big man and we're cooking next season.
Brunson is All-NBA talent now and the Mavs deserve all this. Luka will leave soon and it's hilarious 😂 they have no assets or players that will help. Cuban screwed the Mavs and their fans
This may just be me but, I wouldn't want to be on a team with Kyrie Irving. Yes, he's very good and talented... But he's mentally stressful and he really only seems to care about himself.
I think the main issue with Luka is that he was showered with top level success far too early and far too young. Before arriving in the NBA he was playing for Real Madrid - one of the most decorated sports club in history. And he didn't even had times of hardship when he was playing for Los Blancos - they were one of the top teams in Spain and the Euroleague (perhaps the closest thing to the NBA in Europe) every time. Perhaps Luka needs to realize that this is a whole different situation than when he was in Madrid and success won't come with a finger snap.
Fuck that, man. So they trade the most valuable players on the team (Brunson, Dinwiddie) for Kyrie on an expiring contract, have no defense, have Powell starting a center, needed Luka to play the whole offense since he was a toddler with no other NBA experience, and then... surprise, Luka is used to do everything by himself (no shit sherlock). Now everybody blaming his playstyle, have we gone mad or what? On top of that, he is passionate about the game and he gives a shit... now all of a sudden "he is too emotional". My balls on a stick.
It’s not even Luka. Watching the last few games, his teammates don’t even try to get open, they JUST STAND THERE. Kyrie stuck with that too. Has to do everything himself as well

Been following you since 5k and man, let me tell you that your videos really make my day. The quality, content, duration, aesthetic, and even the sound design really contribute to a well produced video that I always look forward to watching during my lunch breaks. Keep it up man!
i wanna see wemby in san antonio, but imagine rockets go from 20 wins into a minimum 45 win team, probably around 50-55 wins, they could have wemby, kyrie, jaylen brown, and the amount of support they could get from jalen green and jsj, then trading for more depths to go for a push right out the gate, would be amazing
Gg bro
Perfect player for Dallas to get would be Jimmy Butler. He’s the exact type of player they need, and he’s gonna be the person who will get Luka under control. We could do a sign/trade for Kyrie OR offer THJ, Green, Kleber and picks if Jimmy decides he doesn’t want to be in Miami this offseason
Dude that's legit great. Getting butler would be awesome.
None of that would get you butler both bc Miami not even picking up the phone, and bc multiple other teams would crush the offer. Portland being one without a doubt
jimmy butler with luka is gonna be massacre , they have both unstable character
Jimmy wanted to play with Kyrie he says Kyrie is his favorite player Kyrie might go to Miami cause nobody wants stay in Dallas to play with a fat lazy no defense playing ball hog
Lol put jimmy and luka in the same locker room and only one is coming out alive - my money is on jimmy
Four year 55... For Jalen Brunson. Mavs as an org deserve all the L's they are taking. I hope Luka sees that there is no hope for progress there and asks for a trade. Mavs have a history of failing at building a competent roster or holding on to good players.
I like how it how y'all make sure to blame everyone else but Luka, the guy who this content creator specifically told you refuses to get in shape in the offseason and it's probably the most overweight player in the league... interesting skewing of reality here
Thank u for your informative videos u make me love being a fan
Ever since Kyrie left LeBron, he has been absolutely Nothing. Kyrie, and every other Superstar LeBron played with in his career have literally became more Irrelevant than Anthony Bennett after LeBron left. They just don’t appreciate LeGoat enough.
@@rocketleaguehighlightsreel1236You’re forgetting about Julius randle Brandon Ingram and many more
After the leturnobermachine left them they got way better and become relevant
Kyrie will always remain #1 ball handler so idk whatchu mean cuz
Luka situation in Dallas is like the same situation of Mike Trout of the Angels
This is fun to come back and watch a year later 😂
I like Luka be really does complain after every play and allows transition offense because of his complaining. Hope he can start playing hard defense as often as he complains.
These years superteams cant work😢😢
Not a superteam
Because no Super Team Has or will ever work if LeBron isn’t on that roster. Because no other NBA team in History has and will ever stand even a Shot in the Dark against King James. Because LeGoat is the only player that can ever win without a Superteam.
@@rocketleaguehighlightsreel1236 bro you’re contradicting yourself
Lebron got wopped by Boston so hard in 2010 he left to join Miami super team
Mark Cuban biggest MISTAKE trading Dorian Finney-Smith 😅😂😅
Kyrie is the X factor. Ask game 7 of the final vs. golden state. Yall act like he isn't an all star.
Bro you reach with these videos lmao when you said houston and then brought up brown I started laughing im tuning off now 😂
Anything Kyrie touches turns bad lmao. People have been hanging into that 1 title with LeBron more than the 1 title Doc Rivers won 🤦🏼♂️
That defense stats is misleading ASF!!! That 3p difference for a team that has a lot of wins in a one posesión game is really important!
Kyrie is not the problem; Kyrie+ Luca is the problem. They are not a fit, they are not a match; they are too similar and so they clash. I said they would clash the day the trade was announced and, well, they clash!
Luka should leave and compete for a championship while he's young. It's obvious the Mavs can't get it right a they'll waste his potential.
Cut the crao kyrie is trash
Yuup…him and Joker get winded quick I noticed.
He needs to get on the Armstrong protocol.
Yeah, the only star...
Kyrie made similar mistakes in the past, Harden too...
and I didn't bother to think!
i've never seen luka blame his own players bra yall gotta stop pushing this narrative
The Minnesota Timberwolves are gonna slowly learn that the hard way after trading away that haul of assets for Rudy Gobert.
I would be extremely surprised in Kyrie Irving ended up in Houston this off season.
4:27 LOL I remember watching that game where Luka tore his jersey...I was like 'what the...guess he's a little frustrated' my what time REALLY showed with Luka's development or lack thereof
Luka: I’m taking my talents to Hollywood
Hundreds of millions of dollars to dribble a basketball around the court. We should all be so lucky as to live “Luka’s Nightmare”.
It would be really nice to see sponsors that aren't related to predatory sports betting.
Dallas was 20-14 in clutch games before Kyrie trade( tied for first in the league) 5-14 since.THE TRADE DID NOT WORK. Cuban traded the farm to rent Kyrie. Had an engine problem and went and got new rims and tires instead.
I think the trade was 'too late'.
This team needs
1. Defense
2. A better coach
3. Better role players.
This aged well
The Mavericks had two options this season make the playoffs and get swept, and that's with Dinwiddie and DFS or take a risk and trade for Kyrie and try to out score everyone and maybe, maybe win a series and keep Luka happy for next season either way this Mavs team was so inconsistent they had to do something.
Once you go all in you can't turn around and fold.
True I love Kyrie
I find Kyrie to be well spoken in his post game interviews. His teammates love him. You are right that he can't tolerate incompetence. If he stays I see him becoming the leader of this team and they become contenders again as long as they get a better center.
“He left his best friend Kevin Durant” really hit me
Well at least Kyrie feels appreciated😂 they’ll barely make the play in if they’re lucky. I love it too much
Brunson revived Knicks, they won't win the ring but NYK were playing their best bball in years with him on team
Nuggets signed a bunch of two way players, and that's whats making them a contender right now. (KCP, Bruce Brown, Aaron Gordon)
i feel mavericks should had gone for OG Anouby.
Luka will go down as the biggest bust in NBA History
Kyrie is a major problem because he doesn't defend and refuses to be a playmaker for others. When he played for the cavs they sat him down and asked him to be a pass first pg. He got pissed but gave in...for a week he averaged 10 assists a game and the cavs went undefeated but then he snapped and told reporters that he was going to be himself. From that moment on his time in Cleveland was numbered and culminated with him even being benched in the playoffs because of poor play. Now he is old, and his game doesn't translate as well in a league where so many people can score.
Owners too greedy. The "win now" mentality means they sacrifice young talent for aged vets. Doesn't always work out.
Blabla…. Luka with his age is more mature than the rest of players that are even 10 years older than him
You brought it to the point Casey. I think that Doncic is a narcissistic. And I don't think that he will ever win a championship.
Trade Luka for a record amount of picks from the Thunder or Jazz.
You missed to talk about the second biggest problem with the Mavs: Jason Kidd's incompetece as a coach
Luka is a kid who doesn't know how to lose he's always been a winner 🏆 now that he is losing he cant take it
Brown to Houston will never happen.
I'm hearing rumors out of Boston that they're looking at Luka for Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard
Why would Boston do that? They would lose their defense, destroy the system and bring in a ball hog that does not know how to play organized bball but rather dominate the ball
@@josh35292 I agree but Jaylen is looking to go somewhere else.
Imagine Kyrie, brown, Sengun and green? 🔥
As much as I love the idea of Kyrie coming to Philly, we don’t need him. Maxey has been balling and I think it would be a slap in the face once again to him to have him come off the bench. He’s already shown humbleness and humility to do it before, I don’t think he should have to do it again
1st commentator, to say some
Logic in such situation. Clear and precise analysis
The biggest difference between LeBron and Luka is LeBron was a hip, young black man playing in a major metro area and drawing huge money. Luka looks like a barely in shape guy torching teams at the civic center. Plus he's white playing in Dallas
That's the difference
7:21 “Irving now describes Brown as a ‘brother.’”
Just a fun fact, I’m pretty sure they’re all “brothers.” ✊🏿✊🏿
Mark Cuban is the problem. Don't hire a GM if he's the one making decisions. You hire a GM for a reason. Mark has tons and tons of money but that doesn't mean he can build a team.
Yuup
Lukas got crazy maturing to do, but offense was never the problem w the mavericks. Adding porzingus was dumb, offensive big man. They need a solid defensive big man
W Vids keep grinding
Lakers dont want to pay 200 mill for Kyrie in his 30s with a 57 year old Bron. And that's a reasonable stance.
57 years😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol
Good take here about kyrie and jalen. Would be a good fit with those young players. Wonder if Houston would have to give up some youngsters for brown
After Cuban made his press run today it's pretty over. Luka is gone. The bidding war for Luka is going to be something the nba has never seen
Let Kyrie go. Use the 40 million/year cap space to get Luka some role players or another star. Really no need for Luka to jump ship.
Mavericks the pressure is on them now. The CLOCK on luka starts this offseason.
Bro why would you shut down a player who won't be playing for you next year 😅 like why do the Mavs care about Kyrie and his health?
wild you have Fred in tier 1 and not Jordan Clarkson with the year JC been having and the injuries Freddy been dealing with
“Is Kyrie that much of an upgrade over Spencer Dinwiddie?” -Question Spencer Dinwiddie (and only Spencer Dinwiddie) has been asking himself since 2020.
Mavs should sign Demarcus Cousins and Dwight Howard
analytics are ruining basketball. People are judging teams on paper. No sense of fluidity on the court.
Knicks fan here. I come in peace ✌🏿 I’d like to thank the Mavs for letting Brunson walk. 😊
There have been rumours that James harden also wants to go to Houston and if Kyrie and Jaylon go then he is definitely gonna try to join them
They ain't playing wood. To me that's the problem
Dallas may be an inconsistent team, but Jose Alvarado's career high is 38 points 🤔
Has to do everything himself as well
luka is starting to become a tad bit overrated
Lol say that to a mavs fan
@@Nobody-k5s the luka dick riders will probably just call me a hater
0:31 I didn't even know Jevale was still in the league lol
The problem is mark Cuban thinks he can win with Reggie bullock and Dwight Powell type players
