    This video came at the right time, because both my pomeranians have recently started this barking behavior since my husband has been on first vacation since Christmas. They just turned a year old, one on April 24th and one on 25th of this year. Also I have one pom that is super clingy and if I shut the door to use the bathroom she goes nuts as if I have left her home alone 😔. I tried not to feed the bad behavior and just try to ask her to sit quietly then let her sit on my lap awhile then go about doing house work, but she is not getting and better with her anxiety at all.

    • @CeceFamily
      @CeceFamily  Рік тому +2

      I’m so sorry to hear that! Separation anxiety is one of the trickiest behavioral problems to deal with in the world of dog training as the behavior often happpens when you’re not there and a lot of dogs have developed this issue over the pandemic as the owners are home with them all the time. I suggest getting her used to you leaving at short intervals (could be 30 seconds or 1 min at first) and slowly building it up over time.

    Your super helpful I love your videos I think I’ve never seen such a good my parents don’t want me to get a dog they say I’m not ready for it but with your videos I can prove them wrong and show them that there’s a solution for something cause my parents had a dog but it barked at midnight and they had to wake up to take them out and the dog wouldn’t do anything they only wanted attention so that’s why my parents didn’t want any dogs anymore so thanks! :)

    We have 4 poms, two are their parents and 2 are their offsprings. They display diff behaviors. The papapom is quite demanding to stay in my room. The mamapom barks the most to new visitors and demands bellyrub everytime. The 2 pups are ten months old.
    They are all stress relievers in diff ways tho it's truly a demanding endeavor to take care of dogs.

    Hii, I love your vids I’m a big fan, What about if my Pomeranian barks at absolutely everything: cars, motorcycles, people, other dogs, etc. And why does he bark so much? (I think it’s because he’s scared) How do I calm him down and how do I stop him from running to the person and biting them?

    How do I stop him from barking at other dogs (he is super friendly and what's to say hello to everyone) He is also barking at big trucks I guess because of the loud noise. Sometimes I he is just to much and he stresses me out. I love him so much and I want us to get along again

    I have two Poms and one of them barks more.
    This video really helps me!
    Is it OK too, if you stay silent when their barking and pick them up and put them in another room by themselves? Like a time out for 1 minute or so?

    • @CeceFamily
      @CeceFamily  Рік тому +2

      Thank you! They will most likely not be able to make a connection between the barking and the time-out but instead associate barking with being picked up and since you picking them up is also a form of attention so they will perceive it as a reward and the barking will persist. So I highly suggest just keep ignoring them completely if possible - it will get rid of the attention barking much faster.

    My Pomeranian barks every single time she hears an unfamiliar noise like someone at the door or she sees someone outside or a bigger dog when not in crowd ( and also when I take her to agility training )
    I know they're alert dogs but is there a way to make them calm down ? Love my little baby but she's so annoying
    Also she barks and growls everytime another dog gets told not to do something or approaches when she feels taller, it's pretty funny but do you think it can get better ?

    • @CeceFamily
      @CeceFamily  Рік тому +2

      I’ll probably do a video on barking at the door in the future. For barking at dogs outside, it will get better with training, constantly densensitizing her to the bigger dog by pairing with a positive reward. It will take time though but don’t give up! ❤️

      @@AGlimpseOfRach You're correct the training for barking at the door will be completely different from attention barking training and you should not ignore them in this case. Will try to make this video soon!

    Thank you. My Pom barks in the middle of night like 3/4am. We can’t get it to stop by ignoring her or by telling her “good quiet”. She would resume barking after a pause and it is driving us crazy. Any recommendation?

    • @CeceFamily
      @CeceFamily  Рік тому +1

      Does she need her bathroom break or she just barks for attention? If she simply barks for attention, it's best to completely ignore her - yes there will be moments where she stays quiet in between the barking but I wouldn't reward/praise that pause and just keep ignoring her, and let her resume her barking without engaging at all. It might last for an hour before she actually got the message and finally stops barking for good especially for some of the more stubborn ones. I understand it's not an easy thing for you do ignore her barking for possibly an hour in the middle of the night but if you can please try your best to completely tune out. Once you get that first night of training out of the way, they should bark for a shorter amount of time for the next night and then eventually the behavior will diminish in just a few days. There will surely be a few sleepless nights in the beginning there's no easy way to this - but they will pay off in the long run trust me!

    Hi! Thanks for your videos! I would really like to get a pom, but I live in a tiny apartment in the middle of the city and I would like to avoid annoying the neighbours as much as possible. Do you have any specific tips for that? Or do you think another breed would be better?

    • @CeceFamily
      @CeceFamily  Рік тому

      A Pom is just as good as any other dogs if not even better because of its size - making it the perfect fit for a tiny apartment. Poms often get a bad rap for its barking but most people don’t realize how they turn out depends a lot on the owners. If you socialize them to different sounds, people, other dogs as well as triggers at a very young age, and train them properly, they have the potential to be one of the most well behaved dogs on earth given how smart they are ❤️

    We have 2 poms - both are 1 year old. They bark for attention, but they also bark at everything else lol. They bark at people, other dogs, birds, sounds, and they bark at each other while playing. They even bark while pottying. We tried ignoring them but they didn't give up. A few neighbours have come to our door to complain because they only rest when they are sleeping. Oh and the other thing, one of the poms ends up sounding like he is crying if you ignore him for long 😂🤣

    • @CeceFamily
      @CeceFamily  Рік тому +1

      Sounds like they're under-socialized at younger age (I talked about this issue in a video called 5 common mistakes that new Pom owners make) - it's a pretty common problem especially for puppies that were born during the pandemic. Maybe trying enrolling in some dog training group classes? Trainers at those classes usually show you how to desentize them to people approaching them, sounds, wheels, and other distractions on the street, and on top of that they get to interact with other dogs in the class which would help socializing the to other dogs as well. I know it's no fun dealing with a whiny neighbor as I used to go through the same problem when my dog was still having the separation anxiety and always sounded like she was crying when I need to leave her home alone to go run some quick errands. Hope it gets better for you soon! ❤️

    Do you have any advice on how to get them to stop barking at people they see out the window? My mom's dog is always watching out the window and goes nuts every time she sees someone walking on the street, I'm not sure how to stop it?

    • @CeceFamily
      @CeceFamily  Рік тому +1

      I would start by managing the environment: including using white noise machine/turning on music to distract the dog from the sound of people walking outside as well as closing the curtain or blocking the dog's access to the window by using a pet gate to minimize the barking. After that, I'd work on counter-condition the behavior by redirecting the dog away from the window and ask for an alternative behavior such as sit (as far away from the window as possible) everytime she barks and then reward her for that. If it doesn't stop, I think it'd be helpful to get a trainer to come and evaluate the situation since nothing beats an one-on-one in person consultation (I know that because as someone who have recently started learning a new skill and although I tried my best to do as much research as I can through UA-cam and eveything - having a private coach makes a huge difference lol).

    • @adammcilmoyl4278
      @adammcilmoyl4278 Рік тому

      @CeceFamily I will give those things a try, thanks for your help! I like the idea of training them to be away from the window, I don't know why I didn't think of that myself lol.
      And you're totally right about having a coach, there's nothing like having someone who's done it before teaching someone like me who's doing it for the first time lol.

    • @CeceFamily
      @CeceFamily  Рік тому

      Without seeing the dog in person, it sounds like it could be either excitement barking (she's excited for the car ride and expect good things to happen) or separation anxiety (she's anxious until you come back into the car with her).
