- Cameron Britton, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan give a hilarious interview as they talk about starring on the new Netflix series, The Umbrella Academy. Robert Sheehan reveals he was given license to be as crazy and wild as he wanted for his character Klaus, while David Castañeda, who plays his brother Diego, demonstrates which other actor he was closest to on set. shannon I hope you're right... Misfits was such a good show.. Season 3 died quickly because he left which kinda messed it all up. My favourite character was Curtis but it wasn't the same without them all and story being altered. Shame. That's why I really hope he don't leave this.. Don't want him ruining another good TV show for that

@@shan942 grew up...Haha the role he has now about waxing with chocolate spread?.. well I hope he doesn't get stale again. Actors cannot always be picky..if you play a constant type of acting, most times it usually sticks. The comedy actors usually don't do great in serious roles.

The way Robert plays Klaus' character is very similar to back when he was Nathan in Misfits. Just a crazy neurotic druggy unpredictable guy with a loud mouth and super powers lol.
And they both see dead people!

klaus however has a deeper core that brings some meaning into his actions unlike nathan who just does it mainly to have fun :D
i think they just have the chattiness in common, otherwise the characters are fairly opposite. nathan was selfish and unapologetically //himself/// vs. klaus who has very little sense of self
I think so too, its kinda crazy to me that most people aren't mentioning misfits, I use to fucking love it and I see so many similarities with Nathan and Klaus. Also as a side note I find it kinda funny how at points Robert's Irish accent comes through, It just cannot be contained

I agree. When I first saw Klaus in the show I immediately thought of Ezra and how he'd have been a good fit as well.

Actually, there's a particular moment in the comics (vol.1) where Klaus pretends to be Monocle (Sir Reginald Hargreeves) in order to confuse Vanya.
Diego, Klaus and Hazel all have this first impression that throws you off of the fact that all three actually have these big, sad, precious hearts. Like Diego lost someone but he still made sure that Klaus was okay. Then there’s Luther who finds out he was sent on a useless mission and he flipping throws Klaus across the room.

I loved Diego's character because outwardly, he's so gruff, but then you see the amount of love he has for his mother Grace who is but a mere robot, and Detective Patch. David played his part really well.

David really pays so much attention and listens intently to whoever is talking and it's so very endearing😭❤️ And it's not just this interview, he does it in every interview, he really gives his full attention to whoever is speaking, especially when he's with Robert, which is incredibly adorable😭❤️ Robert can talk a lot at times, but he describes things really well and his vocabulary is extremely wide and varied, he really is lovely to just listen too, and I find it really cute how David just looks right at him and listens to whatever he says with full attention💞 my two favourite boys😚💕

I have enjoyed every second of this unique series. While waiting for the season 4, navigating through all those small interviews, I'm so grateful to these amazing actors, who did such a deep work making the characters of the Umbrella Academy REAL. When you rewatch the episodes, there are so many tiny lovely moments, which feel like pure improvisation coming from the chemistry of the actors and their personages. This show is magic and unique. I wish there would be more movies like this, fusions of genres, based on a smart script and wise direction that truly celebrates the talent of their actors.
