  • So this hymn came about when a good friend and sister in Christ messaged me asking for prayer a couple of days ago. She asked for strength to cling to Christ while she was experiencing really bad ongoing pain in her body. As I was praying for her, I just really wanted to sing words of assurance to her that she is secure in Christ and that Christ is with her even in times of weakness. I came across this old hymn, rewrote a few lines, and wrote the extra chorus with the words of what I was praying for her about & really, what I would love to say to her in person right now (but alas... covid!). 😭
    As I was meditating on these words and recording/editing, these too are the words of the gospel that I need to hear everyday. The truths in the Bible are the very ones I need to hear in times of anxiety & uncertainty. I too need to hear the words "fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called..." (1 Tim 6:12) and "...that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures" (1 Cor 15:3-4).
    Friends, let us continue to cling to the words of the gospel and to cling to Christ. May we have no fear and no doubt, as we remember that Christ died, rose, and reigns today, and will bring us home to Him one day.

    Lyrics:
    Fight the good fight with all thy might;
    Christ is thy strength, and Christ thy right;
    Lay down thy life, and Christ shall be
    Thy joy and crown eternally;
    Thy joy and crown eternally.
    Run the straight race by God’s good grace
    Lift up thine eyes, and seek His face;
    Life with its pain before us lies,
    With Christ as the Way, and Christ the prize;
    With Christ is the Way, and Christ the prize.
    Have no fear, Christ is with thee
    Have no doubt, Christ will come for thee
    He died and he rose,
    To reign over all;
    He’s the King of all Kings
    and Lord of thy soul.
    Cast care aside; upon thy Guide,
    Lean, and His mercy will provide;
    Lean, and the trusting soul shall prove,
    That Christ is thy life and Christ, thy love;
    That Christ is thy life and Christ thy love.
    Faint not, nor fear, His arms are near;
    He changeth not, and thou art dear;
    Hold fast to Him, and thou shalt see
    That Christ is all in all to thee;
    That Christ is all in all to thee.
