Oh man, everyone is hating on this homeowner! He seems like someone who’s in theatre-his look, mannerisms, and voice. I bet he likes British literature, plays, poetry, etc...I tend to believe that people who choose to live in tiny homes are humble and special. Not pretentious. They see the beauty in simplicity and having less (which is so much more). Anyway, Zach has a lovely home with awesome windows and our fabulous Bryce helped build it!! 👍

Sometimes, when the moon is full and the air is crisp and still, Bryce's screams can be heard in the distance. Zach lifts his yerba maté to his lips and nods to no one in particular, the wind tinkling the chimes fashioned from Bryce's exceptional bones.

He said he needed to build a barricade "In the meantime she's pretty savvy, she knows what a 2 ft drop is." I thought that was a pretty big assumption but after doing some looking around developmental experts say infants build an avoidance of heights once they get more experience crawling and navigating the world on their own--somewhere around 9 months.

I know it sound odd, but they actually do know! When my son was 11 months old we took away one off the sides off the crib so that he could crawl out instead off crawling over and accidentally hurt himself, However until resentally, he never deared leaving the bed because he wasnt comfortable in his own skill to climb down! Now at 14 months he has learn how to safely climb down the stairs so, he has started using the same teknik walking out of his bed 😂 but he wouldnt climb down the stair either before he started to understand the teknik! If he tries to climb down and realize that its too high, he climbs up again! They are not stupid!

He probably clicks away on his computer while looking down his nose at those that work in the ‘fracking’ industry. Honestly I’m really tired of the holier then thou attitude. The hard working people in the fracking industry provide petroleum for plastics, energy for power and heat. Wood has to be cut, petroleum refined to plastics and metal mined to make anything happen. None of the products used in that house could have been built or moved without ‘real’ energy. And solar ain’t gonna cut it. BTW I don’t work in that industry it is just an observation. A ‘thank you for the raw products that allowed me to have this wonderful home’ would be nice to here every once in a while.

I noticed the two outside electric cords leading to the tiny house. Also, the tiny "Healthy" home had quite alot of power robbing, appliance's...the Big fridge, the washer and dryer combo, the induction cook top, lighting, wall mounted heater/AC unit. The owner mentioned putting in a outside hot tub as well. Where's the water supply coming from? Sorry, I don't mean to sound negative about my questions! I'm just saying that if he wants to be on grid that's fine. unless they, (family) are planning to go off grid, this " Healthy" tiny house is the same as a bigger house, just a much smaller footprint 😂😎

Honestly it depends on where you live. I live in NY and that is a great price for that space.

Of course but you don't live in a tiny home in NY and it's not in line with the tiny home movement...
Don't get me wrong it's a great thing and a beautiful project but still not in line with the debt-free idea of the movement imho. cheers

The price could have been lower but wages for cabinet makers are high in areas where rent is high. This has an elaborate cabinet grade built in loft. Things like propane wall ovens jack the price up in a hurry. Pretty much everything used in this is high end. To get a tiny version of a million dollar home for 80 000 isn't too bad. I guess tiny homes are what you make of them.

Sha Liz, I also live in NY(Upstate) and it is possible to buy a traditional home for $80k. Tiny homes here cost far less.
For anyone thinking of having a tiny home built in one of the more expensive real estate markets, perhaps they could shop around and find a company in a different area, where a tiny home could be built for a lesser price. After all, those wheels are there for a reason... 👍

This is a beautiful HEALTHY TINY HOUSE, in a beautiful location, built by people who want to live a quality life away from the polluted lifestyles of most people. Yes, the price is higher than what I plan to spend on a TH, but apparently some of the materials were more expensive than usual. I give this couple a lot of credit for choosing an environmentally friendly home and lifestyle!
For all of you who chose to make negative personal remarks, you don't belong on this page nor do you belong in the TH community.

  • @lizsteeds6697

The home-owner has an unusual speech cadence and rhythm ... almost stopping at different unexpected moments. ANYWAY - I digress - I think the house has a little too much single source wood ... walls, ceiling, floors ... maybe some salvaged timber could break up the visual homogeneity . If the budget stretched to $80 K I would have invested in a decent solar set up as a priority AND a stair guard for the child needs. How can a toddler be "savvy" about what he claimed to be a "2 foot drop" ? They just aren't as they lack the cognitive development to rationalise causality at that age. Plus that 2 foot drop would be much bigger if she ends up falling down the whole staircase. A curiously blasé attitude IMO. I wonder if the 'little woman' does most of the childcare. Just sayin ... ! Love the property the tiny house was on though. Would love to see the farmhouse and stables we see in the longshot from the drone.

Troy Paradiso , I agree. He seems very smart and as he said, he’s appreciative of what the system hath provided him so far. My comment is, in the nicest way possible, I want to see him as the smart villain in some movie because he seems very intelligent and has somewhat of a fancy manner/accent. I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but that’s how I’d like to see him :).

Wow - there are a LOT of would-be character assassins here (albeit some very witty ones). For my part a tenet of the tiny house ideology is tolerance - living together in smaller spaces. I'm sure the guy under siege didn't come across as he probably intended and if we just give him the benefit of the doubt, perhaps it was some camera insecurity at play there. Amongst us, I'm sure he's not the only one who has some regrettable articulation when under the spotlight. He did, however open his lovely home (resplendent with the triptych windows!) for our benefit and for that maybe we should show some gratitude rather than publicly humiliate him (which is always so heroic... hmm). So thank you for this episode and I hope that understanding and tolerance can feature more in this growing community. Cheers from Aust - Dave
