- Hello everyone! This week I covered Waiting On A Miracle from Encanto!
A friend asked me to record this for an animatic they were making (hence the lyric change on the third line) and I liked the song so much I decided to make a full cover. It's such a pretty song. I had a really nice time making it : )
A quick heads up (for anyone who reads the description), I'm going to be switching to bi-weekly uploads for a little while. I am very tired and need a break. I'll probably get back to weekly uploads later on in the year but for now, bi-weekly it is.

By the end of the film, Mirabel actually fulfilled the things she said she wanted to do in this song, whether directly or indirectly.
"I would move the mountains" Her outburst with Abuela caused the mountains surrounding the town to crack and shift.
"Make new trees and flowers grow" she did this by making Isabela realize that she was capable of creating so much more with her powers.
"I would heal what's broken" she found a way to heal what was broken with her family.
"Show this family something new" was best said in her All of You line "I think it's time you learn you're more than just your gift".

That’s the reason people connect with musicals so much- they see themselves in the story of the song.
It's so sad that this song is underrated compared to the other ones, this has such a beautiful message and I wish it would be in the spotlight like every other songs from the movie.
Especially because when the voice actor in the movie recorded this originally, she was in labor with her baby. She was rushed to the hospital immediately after the recording
And to top it off the notes are just so pretty!!!
My favorite song in the whole film. All of the songs are great but this stands out as being much more slower and personal.

As a disabled, chronically ill person (undiagnosed until adulthood, I was just always "pathetic") who grew up feeling "less than" and left out of a lot of things, this song speaks to me so much ❤
I'm the exact same way. I always felt alone and on the outside. Now that I've gotten answers I can work with it, although somedays I still feel like im waiting on a miracle. I know how it feels and I'm sorry you had to go through it too. Hopefully youre not still waiting too :))
As an autistic person , this song really speaks to me as well, always being the odd one the one without the “gift” of being neurotipical , always feeling left out
Same. I'm already 30, but because of disability and illness, I'll likely be a neet forever, under the thumb of an overly controlling parent no less, unless something changes.
I can relate to that feeling. As person with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, I felt left out sometimes too. I'm constantly "waiting on a miracle", hoping to be able to walk again. 💜

It literally only occured to me now that Mirabelle end up doing all the things she wishes she could do in this song. Her actions end up moving the mountains, causing new flowers to grow, healing her family, and showing her family a new way forward. That's so cool!
Even the small one, waiting up in her room waiting for a miracle, happened the night of Antonio's gift giving.

It is hard being in a family that has so many successful people, it took a long time for me to accept that just because I'm not a professor or scientist doesn't mean I am less of a person and still have things to offer. This song made me cry when I first saw it, and it made me cry now.

Fun fact: Stephanie Beatriz recorded this song while she was in labour. She was waiting on her own miracle.
In labour... or pregnant. Can only imagine the, "Wtf are you doing?" looks from the doctors to the sound team setting up in a hospital room if it was actually in labour.
@@StitchXDHD iirc like ACTUALLY, technically in labor, or at least very close to it. she gave birth later that same day and probably mistook the early stages as phantom contractions
@@tex6579 Just read an article about it. She knew she was in labour, but it was very early an the contractions were far apart. So she sang in between the contractions. When she wasn't singing, she focused on her body to get an idea if she should keep going or not.

I didn’t like it. I hate when people change the actual lyrics to change a narrative.
@@PrincessElisa8 it doesn’t really change the narrative though. The only thing it does is make the song more universal. In the movie mirabel is the part of the madrigal family so she’s addressing them it’s a more personal i want song. But the lyric change makes it less about her talking about her family and more about anyone who feels left out
I was *Waiting On A Miracle* for Anna to sing another beautiful song for us to listen
I know most people fav song is « WE DONT TALK ABOUT BRUNO » or « SURFACE PRESSURE » but personally I always liked this song the most .
It shows that despite her loving her family too much , she also makes the mistake of overshadowing her own emotions and needs . But for one song she managed to take a few seconds and express how left out she feels and how much she wants to be included. I love her so much

When I first heard this song in the movie, my heart ached literally and was shocked how beautiful it is. Just the way Mirabel sounds, the emotions, just everything about it, and it really rare for me to be like that. It came back again because of you Anna, and I once felt the same thing I felt the first I heard this.
You know for the fact how long does annapantsu really takes her time make all sorts of covers like this she makes, gotta give lots of love to her over 11 years she has the guts to make more. Don't forget to also take breaks for all your work you got and if you feel burned out too. YES ANNA!!! Waiting on a miracle is the most underrated in Encanto, so I really appreciate it that you covered it with your beautiful voice. This song also means a lot to me personally, because it was one of the first covers I made that actually got some attention (not a lot, but a good amount for what was a 150 sub UA-cam Channel), and all the feedback I got from it was so positive and sweet and it meant the world to me.

I wasn’t expecting to love this cover as much as I did - not because of Anna (who’s incredible as always) but because this just wasn’t a song I’d liked as much compared to the others in the movie. This cover really made me fall in love with the song itself 💙

I always feel worthless or like I'm a disappointment to my family because my younger brother is the "star child" who can never do anything wrong and they are always proud of him and take him out for rewards after he does something good or does good in school but when I do something I'm proud of or I put blood sweat and tears into I always get "nice" "yeah that's great" "good for you" "yeah yeah I see it" "ok..good job..what do you want a cookie?" And then every time my family is spending time with each other and I try to talk they just ignore me and keep talking,then they always ask me why I'm always so distant or always sitting in my room crying.

This song and the movie hurts because it explains what is going on in my family perfectly, they push aside conflict to keep the peace when it does nothing and when me (The only one with autism in my family) says anything im put down, it's ignored pushed aside and mostly the cause of the conflict is my dad and how he treats me and others. Im waiting to be noticed as something more in my family then just the one who cosplays or is a little different. But i feel im to late as im 16 and i feel like nothing had changed since i was 9. Im tired of nothing changing, but i don't know what to do.
