It's so sad that this song is underrated compared to the other ones, this has such a beautiful message and I wish it would be in the spotlight like every other songs from the movie.

By the end of the film, Mirabel actually fulfilled the things she said she wanted to do in this song, whether directly or indirectly. "I would move the mountains" Her outburst with Abuela caused the mountains surrounding the town to crack and shift. "Make new trees and flowers grow" she did this by making Isabela realize that she was capable of creating so much more with her powers. "I would heal what's broken" she found a way to heal what was broken with her family. "Show this family something new" was best said in her All of You line "I think it's time you learn you're more than just your gift".
It literally only occured to me now that Mirabelle end up doing all the things she wishes she could do in this song. Her actions end up moving the mountains, causing new flowers to grow, healing her family, and showing her family a new way forward. That's so cool!
As a disabled, chronically ill person (undiagnosed until adulthood, I was just always "pathetic") who grew up feeling "less than" and left out of a lot of things, this song speaks to me so much ❤

@@sonyasyt Just read an article about it. She knew she was in labour, but it was very early an the contractions were far apart. So she sang in between the contractions. When she wasn't singing, she focused on her body to get an idea if she should keep going or not. That's dedication.

It shows that despite her loving her family too much , she also makes the mistake of overshadowing her own emotions and needs . This song actually hits hard for me. I always feel worthless or like I'm a disappointment to my family because my younger brother is the "star child" who can never do anything wrong and they are always proud of him and take him out for rewards after he does something good or does good in school but when I do something I'm proud of or I put blood sweat and tears into I always get "nice" "yeah that's great" "good for you" "yeah yeah I see it" "ok..good job..what do you want a cookie?" And then every time my family is spending time with each other and I try to talk they just ignore me and keep talking,then they always ask me why I'm always so distant or always sitting in my room crying. My miracle is my family being proud of me and my mental health getting better.

Funnily, this is the first time I've heard the english version. It's my own little miracle that Anna covered one of my favorite songs of all time. As a fun fact, a comparisson between the english and spanish versions: The spanish doesn't say the "I'm not fine" so explicitly so hearing it now broke me a little. "Waiting on a miracle" also has a better ring to it than the translation (which is "waiting for something magic") I like "All I need is a change / all I need is a chance". But I love the next part in spanish so much, because it says "I need eyes that when they see me, they truly want to see me" Now, the reason I love the spanish version so much is the climax. It's a bit more like: "Look at how willing (or maybe "earnest") I am I was patient but received no answer I ask for blessings even when I don't have a gift Miraculous and magical Could there be something magical in me?" I don't know why it hits me so hard every time.

I have been waiting for Anna to do this song since she did the other songs from Encanto, and she absolutely nailed it! This is one of my favorite songs from the movie, and she did it so well; she really embodied the emotion that Mirabel was feeling, and she also added her own power and magic to it. Very well done, Anna!
The funny thing is that the whole plot of the movie could have been avoided if Mirabel hadn’t wiped the candle wax on her dress when she was getting her gift
I feel like the sound mixing on the song was just a little wacky in the Disney version but I couldn't tell if it was just the song itself or the sound mix. In the end, I feel like there's something about the second verse and the chorus that doesn't sit right with me; it's only in the final few lines that the song really takes off and I regret not getting to hear more power from the singer b/c the last two lines are so satisfying.
it makes no sense for her to put power in her voice when most of the song she’s upset and talking about what she can’t do. The song only adds the “powerful” part when her false hopes are soaring the highest but they immediatly crash in the last line. It’s an intentional choice.
@lilac3266 I always find myself singing the first 2 lines and then... puttering out, losing the desire to sing the song, because the composition just kinda underwhelming. I understand that she's expressing frustration and disappointment, but songs like "Waiting in the Wings" (Tangled Show) and "Reflection" (Mulan) express similar feelings while still allowing the singers to really flex. Disclaimer tho, I'm not complaining about Anna's voice, I'm complaining about the song composition and the Disney official version's sound mixing. Being extra clear: Anna does a great jobs and I'm not sitting here dunking on her. I'm just commenting on the song itself.

HOLY COW! that was flippen epic! and that belt, it is in my not so humble opinion that ur belt was even better than the belt in the movie.

I wasn’t expecting to love this cover as much as I did - not because of Anna (who’s incredible as always) but because this just wasn’t a song I’d liked as much compared to the others in the movie. This cover really made me fall in love with the song itself 💙

This song actually hits hard for me.
I always feel worthless or like I'm a disappointment to my family because my younger brother is the "star child" who can never do anything wrong and they are always proud of him and take him out for rewards after he does something good or does good in school but when I do something I'm proud of or I put blood sweat and tears into I always get "nice" "yeah that's great" "good for you" "yeah yeah I see it" "ok..good job..what do you want a cookie?" And then every time my family is spending time with each other and I try to talk they just ignore me and keep talking,then they always ask me why I'm always so distant or always sitting in my room crying.
My miracle is my family being proud of me and my mental health getting better.

Funnily, this is the first time I've heard the english version. It's my own little miracle that Anna covered one of my favorite songs of all time.
As a fun fact, a comparisson between the english and spanish versions:
The spanish doesn't say the "I'm not fine" so explicitly so hearing it now broke me a little. "Waiting on a miracle" also has a better ring to it than the translation (which is "waiting for something magic")
I like "All I need is a change / all I need is a chance". But I love the next part in spanish so much, because it says "I need eyes that when they see me, they truly want to see me"
Now, the reason I love the spanish version so much is the climax. It's a bit more like:
"Look at how willing (or maybe "earnest") I am
I was patient but received no answer
I ask for blessings even when I don't have a gift
Miraculous and magical
Could there be something magical in me?"
I don't know why it hits me so hard every time.

I have been waiting for Anna to do this song since she did the other songs from Encanto, and she absolutely nailed it! This is one of my favorite songs from the movie, and she did it so well; she really embodied the emotion that Mirabel was feeling, and she also added her own power and magic to it. Very well done, Anna!
The funny thing is that the whole plot of the movie could have been avoided if Mirabel hadn’t wiped the candle wax on her dress when she was getting her gift

I feel like the sound mixing on the song was just a little wacky in the Disney version but I couldn't tell if it was just the song itself or the sound mix. In the end, I feel like there's something about the second verse and the chorus that doesn't sit right with me; it's only in the final few lines that the song really takes off and I regret not getting to hear more power from the singer b/c the last two lines are so satisfying.
it makes no sense for her to put power in her voice when most of the song she’s upset and talking about what she can’t do. The song only adds the “powerful” part when her false hopes are soaring the highest but they immediatly crash in the last line. It’s an intentional choice.
@lilac3266 I always find myself singing the first 2 lines and then... puttering out, losing the desire to sing the song, because the composition just kinda underwhelming. I understand that she's expressing frustration and disappointment, but songs like "Waiting in the Wings" (Tangled Show) and "Reflection" (Mulan) express similar feelings while still allowing the singers to really flex. Disclaimer tho, I'm not complaining about Anna's voice, I'm complaining about the song composition and the Disney official version's sound mixing. Being extra clear: Anna does a great jobs and I'm not sitting here dunking on her. I'm just commenting on the song itself.
