Excellent presentation and editing! I'm about to move to the UK on a 6-month work visa so this information was really useful in clarifying how to use the RailCard, thanks!
Really nice video. I was in the UK for 12 days in October and am heading back this September. I wish I would have had a railcards on the previous trip. Easily worth the investment if you make a long train ride or 2. Thanks for the info and the well laid out video.
Omg, this video was so helpful! I was surprised to see that this was a new channel, I just checked out all of your videos and dude very impressed with the quality and information provided, Keep up the good work, Just subscribed to show my support!
I don’t get it? So what tickets are you getting from the kiosks? Because you can only scan one sort of ticket because the barriers will open one time. You either scan the one or the other
The fact you have to pay £30/70 for a railcard, but then pays off. And keep in mind that non UK credit cards may charge additional fees so this may also be useful (unless you can change the currency). I book via a train operating company (TOC): mostly via EMR or Greater Anglia
Hey! When you check-out on Trainline, just include that you have a Railcard. It doesn't need to be stored in Trainline to be valid. Only Railcards bought from Trainline can be stored in the app. For instance, if I buy my tickets from the Southeastern App, I include that I have a Railcard but it's still stored on Trainline. Hope that makes sense!
Please help me out, I heard about railcards for the first time today on an ig video, ill be relocating real soon so this is very helpful for me. Can I buy it while outside the UK? so that on arrival I can begin using it at the train station? Also, where do you advise I buy? On Trainline or National rail? Do I get my card immediately, I'm aware both websites(national railway & trainline say its digital)? Thank you.
great video - explains a complicated concept in simple words.👍 Somewhere in the video you said Digital Railcard can be linked to digital Oyster card; care to make another short video on that subject? cheers.
Can the railcard (26-30) be linked with oyster for using TFL? I don’t visit London very often but curious to know if only the network card can be linked?
Thank you so much for the step by step guide Alanna! I couldn't figure out how to buy train tickets using my railcard. (I thought you could store the tickets to the railcard itself.. like an oyster card) Quick questions, would you know if there are real savings if buying tickets in advance? How far advanced does it need to be? Would there be a difference buying tickets the day before your travel versus buying on the spot?
Thank you so much! ☺️ In terms of buying train tickets, I would say it depends on when in the day you're travelling. Usually for me, I buy "Off-Peak Day Return" or "Super Off-Peak Day Return" tickets because I don't travel during morning rush hour and I don't often have a set time I need to travel - so these tickets are good for any train that is off-peak that day and they're good value. Sometimes buying single tickets a few weeks in advance can be a bit cheaper, but you're stuck with that train only (ex. a single train ticket there and a single back could be £5 each when bought 2 weeks early, but an Off-Peak return is £11 and you can travel on any train). Hope that makes sense!
Hi. Thank you for your informative video! I was just wondering: do I need to have a purchased railcard before buying my train tickets or before the day of journey? Thank you very much
Hey! If you want to use a Railcard when buying a train ticket, you need to already have the railcard. However you can buy train tickets WITHOUT a Railcard, it just means you won't get a discount.
Hey! You can apply your Rail Card every time you buy a train ticket - it's not always going to give you a discount based on what the card is, but you can apply it every time you purchase tickets.
Hey! ☺️ My railcard is digital (applied for online, once approved it's saved to my phone) My usual train stations don't have QR Code readers for tickets yet, so I still print them off at the station (buy them ahead of time on my phone tho!)
On most routes etickets are available, and if the e-ticket option is shown when you buy your ticket then you can use it on your phone. If it's not available then you select the option to collect at the station and then you insert the card you paid for the ticket with and enter the collection code to pick up your ticket from the machine
10/33am l'm trying too purchase a ticket form Macclesfield to London Uston for the 17 of May, lv'e never used Rail tickets before on the app ,can you advise me on how to get my ticket, l'm a senior citizen , many thanks
Hi there! You follow the prompts to buy a ticket, but make sure to "add a railcard" when selecting a ticket - you'll need to select which railcard you have usually from a dropdown list. It will automatically apply the necessary discount
Hi, Thanks for sharing great info. I was wondering if this is can be purchased by tourists from USA and South Asia Tourists or it's just for UK residents ?
Hi! The Network Railcard for solo travel (www.network-railcard.co.uk) and the Two Together Railcard for couples travel (www.twotogether-railcard.co.uk) don't have age restrictions
How come you don’t have 100k+ subs?? This is the best video I watched on Traincard for real and it’s so well made!
You're so kind, thank you! ☺️
Totally agreed! Now it offers a fantastic discount on a paltform😂
You don't need to print the ticket if you book through an app. The QR code works fine to go in and off platforms.
THANK YOU FOR THIS

Hey thank you so much!! I really appreciate that ☺️
I even find a code to save money if you buy the railcard on TrainPal😊
Nice video you should have more than 20k subscribers honestly
Thanks so much! Hope it was helpful ☺️
Is there a reason it seems so complex. Just lower all fares?
I don’t get it? So what tickets are you getting from the kiosks? Because you can only scan one sort of ticket because the barriers will open one time. You either scan the one or the other
why dont you explain about the senior card

Network rail card can use any time
This was very helpful, thanks!
Highly informative video.
Glad it was helpful!
What do I write on my rail card? They say I have to sign it but what? My name? My card details?
Most railcards are digital so you can't sign them. If you have a physical one, then you should just sign your name.
Hi i bought my railcard on national rail but can’t figure out how to apply it to trainline. Trainline is asking me to get a whole new card

Impressive information, best so far. Grateful ❤
What card should I buy if I'm 42 and I travel alone?
What happened if I am sometimes travelling alone?
Is the railcard discount also applicable on coach bookings? Please reply as soon as possible
No - when you buy coach tickets, there won't be an option to "apply a Rail Card". These are only available for the trains.
I see other posts have shared more cost-effective ways to buy!
Can the railcard (26-30) be linked with oyster for using TFL? I don’t visit London very often but curious to know if only the network card can be linked?
I've never done it as I don't use Oyster cards anymore, but apparently yes!
Hi there I was wondering if the usa has a railcard scheme.
No. The public transport is poor

Hi ,
Is it available for pay as u go? What i mean is when we tap and go does it applicable for that?
Your Railcard doesn't contain any train tickets so you need to buy tickets separately and before travel.

RC before buying tickets.🤔
I work in birmingham but school in wales, the train cost is too expensive. Can I use the railcard everyday when I'm taking the train?

Of course yes! and I also know a cheaper channel😎
sure, and i find trainpal is convient, it has discount for buying railcard
Very helpful video! Can you use digital tickets or do they have to be printed off at the station kiosk?

Great job, whats the best railcard for the age of 35?
There's a "help me choose" quiz on their website to show you the best railcards for you ☺️ www.railcard.co.uk
it has different discount with different age and it shows on the app. and i found if you buy railcard on trainpal here has a discount with the code.
Hi, Thanks for sharing great info. I was wondering if this is can be purchased by tourists from USA and South Asia Tourists or it's just for UK residents ?
Visitors to the UK can purchase a railcard ☺️ just follow the prompts on the website for the card you're interested in
Yessss! Tourists can also buy it for saving money🥺 and I also know a cheaper channel😎
Hi, please how about for someone older than 30?
Hi! The Network Railcard for solo travel (www.network-railcard.co.uk) and the Two Together Railcard for couples travel (www.twotogether-railcard.co.uk) don't have age restrictions
