2 bedroom apartment/townhouse ranges from $1000-1600 per month depending on the close proximity to CBD and public transportation. Food will cost approx $150-200 a week for a family of 4 (same here). Medical expenses may be less if you have medicare (for PR and citizens), else private insurance is quite expensive. Overall with rent, transport, food, utility bills etc it will cost $2800-4000 per month living in Melbourne. Interest rates for home loans are increasing every month.
