    This is truly that very rare and exceptional kind of film that defies and transcends conventional genre classification. Horror, drama, comedy, love story, art, exploitation, .. . it's like this movie has elements of ALL of those yet it's NONE of them!

    Welcome to the Jodoverse! there's movies, comics, books, music, poetry, and a long etc. These are the early movies, he recently made an autobiographic trilogy. He worked with the mime Marcel Marceau, he crated "trapped in a glass box" for him; also with comic artist Mœbius on the Incal graphic novel (Fifth Element movie copy a lot from it). He just turned 95 years old. Check Jodoworsky's DUNE documentary, seminal work and influence for many movies like Alien and Star Wars. His dune version included Pink Floyd, Dali, Orson Welles and many other icons.

    • @reservoirdude92

      The Incal and Metabarons are absolutely jaw-dropping graphic novels. Jodo was and IS on another level, and he's making another film at 95 years old! The man is just as vibrant and energetic as ever ❤

    Well, I'm not sure about this girl's reaction (as I haven't fully watched all of it yet), but I do already love THIS FLICK. It's my favorite weird movie of all time. Dark and disturbing as it is, it nonetheless has a BIZARRE BEAUTY to it, which is what I particularly admire. It's not normal or common that you get THAT combination in a movie.

    Wow! What a surprise to see you react to this crazy film. Santa Sangre was my intro a long time ago to Jodorowsky's bizarre film world. And believe me they only get more strange after this one. I love this film so much I have a Santa Sangre tapestry hanging up over one of my windows.

    • @reservoirdude92
      @reservoirdude92 10 місяців тому +1

      This was my intro to Jodorowsky as well! When I first started collecting Blu-Rays, this was one of the first blind purchases I made. I was an adventurous teenager, and as a budding cinephile, I knew based on what I read about it that it was right up my alley.
      I think initially I read a review that described it as "Psycho directed by Buñuel" and I have to say it was pretty accurate haha

    I think it's just you and one other reactor who have watched this in all of youtube. Would definitely recommend Jodorowsky's other films like El Topo, The Holy Mountain (I go back and forth between this and Santa Sangre on what's Jodo's magnum opus), Dance of Reality, and Endless Poetry. And I'd be happy to recommend other terrific Mexican films if you want to explore more (there are a bunch of them that are criminally unwatched by reactors).

    What a nice surprise. I'm not a Jodorowsky devotee, but this definitely goes against the grain of acceptable, encouraged, promoted content. I'm convinced that most reaction channels are industry plants of some sort, designed to keep everybody watching the same Hollywood trash and not watching anything that challenges their conception of what a movie can be or say. With all the thousands of movies available online, why do all the reaction channels basically watch the IMDB top 250 movies of all time list over and over again? Because the people in the UA-cam comments clearly like some variety, yet apparently their voters on Patreon only like Pixar, Marvel, Spielberg, James Cameron, Tarantino, Peter Jackson, the most OBVIOUS choices for fedora-tipping "Oh My God, I LOOOOOOOVE that movie!!" fanboys.

    Ok, that's kind of nuts, because Alejandro Jodorowsky is very much a pioneer of all the "independent" filmmakers, apart from being a comic revolutionary, a poet and writer, actor and creator of a pseudo psychological therapy and some other things...
    Take in consideration that all of his movies are very symbolic, rooted in Freud and Jung, very unorthodox and poetic

    Interesting PP. He's a very unusual filmmaker. Fenix was played by his son, Axel. Bet dinners were fun. I can just imagine old lady Dawn telling the other old lady on the bus about the melting peepee, and her saying, " I think this is my stop". If you got through this without your giant brain exploding, I think you're ok with weird movies. Jodorowsky has done weirder, but hey, let's all be weird together. On to the next one!

    Wow! I saw this in the theater with a couple of friends during its initial run. We goofed off for a week afterward doing the zombie walk and mumbling "Holy Blood". Jodoworsky films are like a fun intro to subliminal psychology. Put his films "El Topo" and "Holy Mountain" on your strange movies list because they top Santa Sangre on that score. John Lennon championed El Topo and turned it into one of the first "midnight movie" cult films in the early seventies.

      You guys have to realize that in addition to raising her kids she does all of her own editing (3 titles per week). She has explained she is trying out editors but hasn't found the right one yet, and I have been told by other reactors finding one that works for you can take 6 months sometimes. Dawn stated in a Live Feed that not having the time to respond to comments is her biggest lament right now and hopefully that will change in the near future. I, too, miss not having her reply to my messages but in the meantime there are other reactors I also follow and I can wait until her time frees up. Hope all of you do as well because she is in a class by herself on this platform...
