For all the stupid comments here ... this is a 35k euro hot-hatch with 5-years warranty (Race-chip aside). Stop comparing it with GTI Stage1,2 or whatever you may have or 5-year old Evo's which (if low mileage) still cost 2/3 if this car. Hyundai even offers warranty for track days. This is a first, teaser car, the engine has not been peak tuned. Fastback is coming out, options for AWD are also on the table. They already hinted on something more aggressive with option N concept with carbon use for shaving weight off. Slap on a bigger turbo, intercooler and downpipes in the next iteration ... you have a 300-350hp beast that can take head on RS, Golf R etc. And it will still cost less ... stock!
it's 29k eur (275 bhp version) here in Lithuania, probably my next car, insane value for money
don't forget 7speed dct coming for upgraded N option next year

the display is the most ugly thing i have ever seen. looks like aftermarket screen from Wish mounted on a stand. Also, too much plastic. Sure, never mind the dash, but on the doors too by the handles?! it will scratch up in an instant

@@inflatable2 Comparing the German Autobahn to other countries makes no sense. Autobahn has the infrastructure to do so. You can't be pulling 200+ on slim 2way highways.
Ok, at 200+ I have both hands on the steering wheel! But in Germany we are growing up with fast speed on the Autobahn, it's normal here (but you still need a fast car to drive fast)
The high intake air temps are from the turbo working at the limit of it's effiency range. A larger turbo would cool the intake air temp, but have slower spool up times.
One of the mechanical changes on the post facelift model is a larger turbo.

We are used to see nearly everything that has 4 weels fly by. In my 1 1/2 years of driving here in germany i have seen everything speeding. Well,exept trucks. But they arent allowed to pass in general, so yeah, makes sense
Some reviewers said clutch needs some time getting used to, that's perhaps why there was that stall first time

And also it overwrites the tolerances which are programmed into the car ECU and therefore can damage the car in contrast to the RaceChip which won't do that??? Well that sound like some good ol engine fuckeroo.
But for real. Both verisons have their pros and cons and since not everyone has the money to tune the car on a dyno the RaceChip is a really good alternative.

I have been running the DT-UK Tuning Box and the car Dyno’d stock 266bhp and 280ft/lb.....with box in Sport mode 294bhp and 343ft/lb. nice graph and the car runs like a dream. Racechip are a very reputable company too.

Actually you are right, I don't see any difference compared to my stock 275 hp i30 n performance, as the matter of fact i drove mine 257kph max. Maybe 100-200 is better like one second but that depends on road conditions, air temp and so on.

Sounds like this car has huge road/tyre noise?... and with the downpipe you pretty much need ear plugs to enjoy a longer drive? How has the chip impacted fuel consumption? 1/4 range less than without it? Thanks and great review.

Imagine spending $40k on a performance car then buying an internet tune. Have some respect for your vehicle and get a proper custom dyno tune people.
Spent 60k on my q60rs and run a piggy back tune. Not even a real tune. Some cars don't have that aftermarket yet.
Proper tune voids warranty. This one does not if removed before inspection.
@@Kisuke686 It certainly does void warranty, literally any car dealer can scan your ECU for any changes after factory otherwise you could just take your custom tunes back to stock for warranty issues. There isn't a car dealer in existence who don't have the tools to check for ECU changes in 2018. They all have them for warranty purposes. I worked at Ford and we had them.
@@ashcosmo3854 No, if you remove the racechip unit there is no record of it stored on the ECU, unlike an ECU remap which is easy for the dealer to see.
the owner of this car is one of the CEOs of RaceChip :) so he tuned his own car with his own products, it would be stupid if it wouldnt run good :)

I don't know why do people hate this car so much. I find it cool tbh.
They mainly dislike the brand Hyundai. Also, whenever a new performance car is released, they always like to compare it against their favourite cars in the segment which creates a bias.
Because is Hyundai, is not everything about speed, most of people like nice luxury interior, nice exhaust sound, nice looking cars.
People who never drive European cars for sure they gona say that they are bad, I'm driving European cars 18 years by now, and I also drive Hyundai I30 top of the range the company car didn't like it to be honest, some unusual shift gear change which is just funny made.
You drive 40 km/h in the traffic and you shift gear is on the 6 speed, the car was shaking as soon as I accelerate jumping from 6 speed to the 2nd and 3rd, but again on the traffic slowly comes to the 5 and 6 speed is a brand new car and that's a big mistake for me, also when you close the door to noisy, when you are inside you are not feeling comftomble like In some European cars.
Anyway nothing is pefect all the cars have a missing part, we all buy what we like and how much we have to spend.
Because tha'ts how they roll in Germany. It'd be nice if Aussies had the same driving skills.

This guy was bashing the new 508 a family salooon with 225hp 1.6l for struggling to reach 250 km. and here he is praisin a hot hatch with 2.0 320hp which is also strugling to reach 250 km. I see through your bias against French cars. I love the 30n thought, this is not an autobahn cruiser, nor the 508 is a sports car...

Can’t see how this got so much NM, I have a octavia vrs with apr remap, Racing exhaust system catback, pushing out 317 bhp with 419 NM, that was on the dyno, similar engine 2.0 turbo, then put air intake so guess add another 5 bhp. Where does that torque come from cos I wanna out it in mine, pray tell???

You'd keep your warranty with a racechip wouldn't you as you'd just take it off during servicing etc
@@BB-gm4xs it surely has ways to log data and percicely tell that at one point the ECU has encounterd data relating to a racechip. carmakers are not stupid they can track those little chips, trust me a friend learned that the hard way by loosing his gti warrenty by fucking around and finding out

If you unplug the unit, there is no trace of it stored in the ECU, so the dealer won't know you ever had it.

Wait...so 44 more HP and it still only does 155mph/250kmh? That can't be right. My stage 1 leon fr 2016 only has 235hp and it can do 150mph relatively easily too. How strange, i was expect 270kmh from this map.
