thank you for your clear explanation. I had a question, I was wondering if the camera of the iPad is sufficient for the photos. wouldn't a separate camera be better and can it be linked to the software?
I really love the salsa Photo Booth and have been able to achieve high quality photos through practice and the correct lighting and settings! I have UA-cam videos that share the lighting I use as well as a video on choosing the best iPad to achieve the best quality. The company I purchased from also has dslr cameras that they sell as well!
Love your videos! So clear and concise 🙏🔥🔥 love your lippie colour and look btw! When I think of salsa booth, your face literally comes to mind. Thank you for putting in so much to all your educational videos. You are so generous and seem like such a kind person in general. I wish you all the best love ✊🔥🔥❤️
Thank you for this. Doing a photo booth in a couple weeks and was thinking of offering wallets (2x6), 4x6, and 5x7. Is it possible to do a 5x7 print setting?
@ Thank you! One more question if you don’t mind…I’m about to rent the printer and it’s offering me a 4x6 media set and a 5x7. I could just order the 5x7 media and offer the three size settings through the app, no?
Yes it’s that box, and it functions as the communication between the Photo Booth and the printer. Typically the printer is hardwired to its printing source, but since this is an iPad based booth it can’t be hard wired. The aircast emits it’s own internet connection which allows it to connect to the iPad wirelessly. You connect the iPad to the wifi from the aircast and are then able to print.
At this time if you’re using the aircast pro, no you’ll need a dedicated hot spot or wifi connection via the venue. The wcm2 apparently just updated to be able to use cellular but I have not tested it myself
Your videos are amazing! Just purchased my first salsa and I'm learning a lot- I'm still confused with the printing and text share - So if I have a cellular data ipad with hotspot and I purchase the dongle to connect the printer to the ipad, will I still have issues?
The dongle (as far as I know and have experienced personally) cannot connect to cellular, only wifi (venue or hotspot provides this). So if you want to print and send digital captures at the same time, you’ll need to connect the dongle to the Wi-Fi’s internet or provide your own hotspot. Cellular is great if you’re only wanting to send digital captures
Yes exactly! “Print media” will be the ribbon and paper. One thing I should’ve mentioned is that each time the printer cuts the image, it will leave a sliver of paper in the “trash bin” which is the first compartment you see when you open it up. If you don’t remove all of it before you travel/move the printer, those slivers can get stuck inside the mechanics of the printer. Another reason to make sure to pack it all away each time!
I just did an event yesterday and I was using ipad pro and touchpix software. Touchpix has a small box for airprint and you have to go into settings wifi and change the wifi over to touchpix so it will print. My question is how do I get a internet connection while the airprint is hooked up to internet on the iPad? Do I need to use something else to make it work? I want to be able to print and for the client to be able to send pic to their phone or email. Thank Steve
You’ll need a dongle to communicate from the printer to the iPad as there is no way to directly connect it (hardwire). Whether that’s a Aircast pro or wcm2, yes you’ll need a dongle.
@@ownyourmomentcothank you for explain. Is the DNP 620a Dye Sub the correct printer and can you use this printer for all types print size or do you need a new printer for different sizes? Sorry for all the questions but it’s such a big investment and I wanna know what I’m getting myself into lol
I’ll keep leftover ribbon and paper in the same packaging they came in and store it in a cool and dry place (usually in the same travel box as my printer)
The print kit designed for this printer 100%. You can purchase two rolls here: eventprinters.com/collections/best-selling-media/products/dnp-ds620a-4x6-media-paper-ribbon-kit When you change your settings in your wireless control module to 2x6, it will cut it to those dimensions. Each roll is 400 4x6 prints, or 800 2x6 prints. So you can do 1 event per roll or sometimes 2 events per single roll depending on how many hours you’re providing.
Unfortunately I don’t have personal experience with the QW410. I know the dnp620 has been sold out everywhere for so long 😩 but it’s really the best quality out there. Others have had luck with a refurbished 640 or the RX1HS
So I started getting gray blueish shadows on both sides of my prints. I watched a tutorial to clean the dnp printer but no luck. Any suggestions or advice. Ty!!!!
Hi, I’m looking into purchasing a DNP620 printer for my church to print photos for attendees at different events that we hold. I don’t really need the whole “Photo Booth”. We would take the photos with an iPhone and send them to the printer. We have used a small Canon Selphy in the past and had connection issues (the Canon Selphy has wifi) and using wifi is really slow. My main question is, do you think I could send the photos from the iPhone to my laptop and have the laptop connected to the printer to avoid having to purchase the dongle? Thank you!
Great question for a pro! I only have the perspective of using a photobooth. Definitely reach out to Tammie at desktop darkroom and she can help answer this!
Thank you so much for all of your videos. I just got my Salsa booth two months ago, and your videos have been very helpful. Question -- I just got my DS620 printer. What do you use as the printer stand? I've been looking for one that matches the salsa booth and hides the cords, but the ones I've found so far are either clunky or too pricey.
SO glad to hear it’s been helpful! I use a cocktail table with a spandex table cover for my printer. Sometimes I use an IKEA lack table depending on the situation. But more often than not it’s a cocktail table. I really love the look of having the stand (like the guac and chips) but it’s super pricey and hard to find. So that’s my solution right now! I try my best to position the printer close enough to the salsa but out of the way as much as possible. It’s best to keep the dongle close, and therefore the printer close, and hide the cords as best as I can.
Hello! I am currently in the process of starting my own photo booth business and wanted to ask where I could buy that printer you use for your business? Your content has been very helpful for me in this new journey of mine! Keep up the great content!
Yea unfortunately they are out of stock nationwide. Which booth did you purchase? I recommend getting on wait lists at b&h or adorama so you can be notified when they come back or you can sometimes find them used on Facebook marketplace
Thanks so much! Printers have been very hard to come by. I purchased mine from B&H. I also recommend checking out the website for DNP and seeing if you can find the local suppliers and see if they have stock!
How long does the rolls last? About how much is your ink+photo paper expense per event? I have seen locally that some people charge $100 more if costumer wants photo prints. Not sure if $100 is enough to cover for paper and ink for an event. Thanks for your videos!
It totally depends on the size of the photo that the guest chooses and how long the event is going on for. I’ve had a 5 hour wedding with a full 4x6 glam photo and I went through and entire roll and a little bit of a new one. It’s about 17 cents per roll of paper and ink and there’s 2 rolls in a box. Box is about $135-$160. Conversely if you do the 2x6 strips, you may only do half a roll in a span of 2-3 hours. I typically can do at least 2 events with 1 roll of paper. I charge $200 additionally for prints which covers the paper cost, the additional table and cover I have to bring, etc. For that reason I only sometimes get clients to add on prints but when I do it’s more than worth the additional labor and cost of the paper and ink.
