You can use the collars from some old lock-on grips as a saw guide, for the blade to run between the two, works a treat as a cheat

    Amazing looking!
you really got me with the star nut in the steerer tube :D
Quick tip, regarding the headset bearings - you dont necessarily need to invest in a specialized tool. a threaded rod with large washers does pretty much the same job. Just take care (but you seem to be well ahead of that) to have them go in straight. It's what I did on one of my recent builds and I was no issue.

Thanks mate. Yeah I've tried that before. I think I couldn't find big enough washers in my small town, so it didn't quite work. Might be a job for when I'm in the big smoke again.

@@juliangoulding Any rigid piece of material with a hole drilled in the middle of it the diameter of the threaded rod will work. Plate steel for example. A nice piece of delrin also if you have any plastic lying around. Etc.

Love the paint job! Those colours really match the raw bamboo. Just so you know, if you ever want to increase your gear range somewhat, that rear derailleur can actually handle at least a 46t maximum cassette without the need for a derailleur hanger extender. I use the same derailleur with an 11-46 tooth cassette and it works perfectly, with very smooth and precise shifting.

Ah that's interesting. I do have one of those laying round. I'll see how this goes and maybe chuck one on when I go bike packing .

Using bamboo for a bicycle frame is the stupidest thing Ive seen in a really, and I mean, REALLY long time.

Why ? Perhaps you don't understand the properties of bamboo very well then. The damping and smooth ride feel is amazing.
I find I can produce more power for longer on my bamboo bicycle due to my muscles being less fatigued from vibration.
