  • Frontrunner was good enough to send me some spacers they wanted to try out for installing behind their dropdown table so that the pull out slide would clear the door latch hump.
    Installed on 2014 Jeep Wrangler JK with Subwoofer.

    I just bought this table for my 2012 JKU. Thanks for posting this.

    Thank you VERY much. Your tip about closing the swing gate with the window open made all of the difference. Simplest solution to a frustrating problem. I owe you a beer.

    thanks for the video. Will be installing one this weekend. For anyone watching this 45 mm equals 4.5 centimeters, which do appear on most tapes

    Thanks for a very well done video. The directions could definitely be a bit clearer, (especially for a JK) but I love the table. I pulled the back seat out of my Jeep after purchasing it, and added a rubber cargo mat. The current height difference is now enough to throw these measurements off pretty bad. Im hoping that it still fits. I’m thinking I’ll just climb into the back with the table, hold it up to the inside of the tailgate (while it’s closed) and see if it will still allow the cutting board table to slide out. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

      That's pretty much how I figured out where to put it. Lining it up with the door shut and the window open worked well. Good luck with it!

    I was about to fit this today on my JK but might ask for more hardware first.
    BTW - your white tape measure has mm... if it has cm it has mm too... 10mm in 1cm so 45mm is 4.5cm ;)

      Ha! I’ll have to grab that one again. I thought I’d dug though and checked all of them but I must have looked to quick at that one or been focusing on something else. It did make me think I need to get a metric tape since metric is such a more sensible system in the first place. Thanks!

    Thanks for the video. Mines been sitting in my garage because I couldn’t figure out how to get it on my 2015 jk.
    Front runner told me to use the longer plastic tubes as spacers. Think those will work or it’s a better idea to ask front runner for some aluminum ones like yours?

    • @bulfo4
      @bulfo4  4 роки тому +1

      I would DEFINITELY ask them for some of their spacers. They sent me 3 different lengths and the longest ones worked best. They’re around an inch long. Or cutting some yourself would be pretty easy too. The diameter was about half to 3/4 inch, but I don’t think that’s as crucial. Now that we’ve used it a few times, I’m happy to say the table works great!

    So I’m in the same boat as far as metric drill bits. Did 15/32 work out okay with the nutserts? I really appreciate the video BTW.

    • @bulfo4
      @bulfo4  4 роки тому

      Thanks Shawn! Yes I think 15/32 was the size that worked. I erred on the side of a tight fit and so far it’s been working well. And after a half dozen trips using this table it really does work great. Good luck!

    great video. How far off the tailgate does the folded unit sit when using the spacers? I have gear boxes already and dont want to have to reinvest in all those because the table sitts too far into the cargo area. Thanks

    • @bulfo4
      @bulfo4  Рік тому +1

      yeah, I wouldn't want to buy all new gear boxes like that for sure. When it's folded up and the door is closed, it only adds 3/4 of an inch of depth. And for anyone who doesn't have one of these already to measure...the total distance from the metal part of the tailgate (not the plastic cover) is right about 2 5/8, with the metal clasp going out to 3 inches - for reference, it's almost exactly as much as the bulge on the latching side of the door on my JK. So that bulge - draw a line straight across, and that's right about where it sits. Hope that helps!

      @@bulfo4 did the install today. Key elements: take your time! I made a cardboard template of the backplate to get more visuals. I did tape the spacers to the template to get the best approximation. I skipped the included nutserts and bit the bullet on a real nutsert tool and M6 nutserts. I used the same bolt pattern as @bulfo4. This avoids the need to pull the plasitc trim for hiding wiring. The stool trick was spot on for final install. I did need to dremel out the holes on the backplate to avoid the bolts rubbing the backplate on install. I also mounted just a hair too low so it was slightly rubbing the floor mat. I just used the dremel to shave some of the holes down to get the table lifted up. Last bit, the cheapo plastic nut covers that came on mine to stop the vibration were already broken. I went to the Depot and picked up 3/8 yellow screw protectors. they fit perfectly over the 10mm nuts from Frontrunner.

      @@lawless_jeeper Great additions! I like changing to the screw protectors. I might have to look into that!

    So I need that fatter spacer ? Not the skinny ones that came with the kit ?

    • @bulfo4
      @bulfo4  4 роки тому +1

      My kit came with some little, skinny black spacers, but the new ones they sent (which they said they were testing out), were a totally different size. About 3/4 inch long and in diameter, and aluminum. I'm not sure how it would work with the original spacers, but the new ones were really easy to put on.

      It's fairly quiet. There are rubber stoppers that keep it from being too loud.

    It is a terrible product. You could come out both, cheaper and better off, by going to one of the big DIY stores, gathering some materials and making your own. I know I didn't pay the current price for mine a few years ago, but even at half the current price, it's a ripoff. Anyone considering this in 2023, you're better looking elsewhere if not making your own. If they really wanted to make a solid product, and by the way, I notice that newer Wranglers already have threaded holes that accommodate this rack, built into the rear door; they could have simply included a template that you tape or soft glue to the door that outlines everything (the placement of the rack, where to drill holes, etc), but no, I guess adding a printed piece of paper would have bankrupted them. I spent the better part of a day trying to install this, gave up and threw it in my garage.
