I just ordered a set of Heil Pro 7 headset. Got two cables ordered with the headset, i.e., one for Kenwood modular and one for Yaesu modular. Also ordered a foot switch to free up hands during field day. Cheers & 73 from W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee
Bob, another fantastic vid, definitely my favourite series at the moment! Look forward to more soon. And hey! Can I get a shout out! haha 73 buddy. Keep up the amazing work. Love the shack too!
As always Bob... Funny, you guys did a good job. As for the emails, if they don't like it watch something else right. I personally get a kick out of your videos. You make what could be a very stale subject into something with humor and some good feedback. Pro 7's look like a good upgrade from what I have. Thanks guys. Rob M. Mesa, AZ
Good review by Bob and Tyghe. Thanks guys, I learned a lot about the Pro7. I agree about having to pay for extra cables. Should come with the headset matched to your radio of course. My opinion as well. 73, WA6TWJ
Only problem is, an inverted V is only directional (and not much) if its at least one half wavelength high! But being an inverted V, it is mostly omni-directional. At the low height you have it mounted, it does make a great NVIS antenna!
You guys are a bad influence.......my Christmas list is getting longer and longer all because of you.,.......lol I've the videos, very informative and fun to watch.
Great video Bob! Considering getting a pair of the Heil Pro 7. Not sure I agree with the grading on having to buy the radio specific jack. Not Heils fault. That is more of a radio manufacturing issue. They need to be more standardized like antenna jacks. But over all a great review and think they will be ordered soon for my shack as well as for portable use. 73 and keep the videos coming. I enjoy the down to earth reviews. Jeff, KE8ICG
Please wonder what is the function or true performance of using Pro74 Dynamic Contest Element - HC-74 ??? for contest is an important item?? this video made me happy to buy my PRO 7 headset
I bought the Pro-Set via Elecraft for my KX2 and KX3. Unfortunately it included the adapter for a K2. That's where mine ended up, so I still need a headset for my KX's. I may try the Pro 7. Lee, WA8QFE
Great video, thanks…I would like to get the pro-7 for the 7300, do I need to get an adapter? or does it come ready to connect to it? If needed, which one?
+samsadventure N5FO.. One of my favorite elmers. There definitely heavier than say the PSEs that I have and weighed just a bit less than Birton's Radiosports. After I made the custom fit adjustments to them these were real comfortable. 73 Buddy.
How would you make the headset to fit every radio out there that's for sale using only one cord? Your scores for the headset in the only two categories that mater, TX/RX audio, were both A's and that's what you want to hear. Pun intended.
+revo adan They just came out with it for the Pro7. I think you'll be able to buy it within a month or two. They used to offer the HC4 and then discontinued them for years. Now they're bringing it back. 73, -K6UDA
Your 80 meter dipole is not high enough to even consider it a rotatable antenna much less a directional antenna. On 80 meters, this inverted "V" would have to be much higher to have any kind of directionality. Its a cloud warmer meaning your angle of radiation would be almost 100% straight up.
There is nothing wrong with a Near Vertical Incidence Skywave (NVIS) antenna under the correct conditions. True it has little directionality and is not best suited for long DX, but for 600 to 800 miles can work great.
Hey Bob, He has copied Radio Sport with the Head set. So it IS nothing new for most hams that have RF60 Radio sport head set. BTW Once you compare the Heil headset to the Radio Sport you will see that the Radio Sport is far superior that the Heil 7. See you in the Pile ups OM. 73 DE Ron N6XT
I'm looking into a set of the Pro 7, When I came across your video. Great job guys, Your vid was a big big help. I hope to work you on the air waves some-day. Keep up the good work. Call here is VA3GSI.73's:Kevin.

It's a hot element that accentuates the highs and cuts lows.

Why do these Heil headsets look like my David Clark aviation headset?
Can't wait to see which headset is a winner: the Heil Pro 7 or Radiosport.
+Jeff Pixelated Neither can I. :)
how much did you have to adjust the radio settings from the Mic you were using to use the pro 7 headset
so, what about wearing them for 36 or 40 hours in a 48 hour contest or a multi-day Dxpedition or FD?

Which headset is that you offered to sell for $50? It looks like a Heil also. Is it really that poor of a headset?

can i still buy just the HC4 element? i remember i was able to buy one 10 yrs ago.

cool great! thanks.
Can this headset plug into your average audio jack? Such as on smart phones for example
Smart phones use a third connector so normal headphones are a crap shoot. But yes, they will plug into 1/8" jack.
Just purchased those hope they work good KC1JQX

I'm working on a method to double the pole to get the apex up at about 55 to 60 feet. But thanks for watching.

speaking of 'idiacy in the room' it's spelled idiocy :)
eh, it amused me at least.
+Ted Timmons Sorry teacher. I blame it on the 20+ hours of editing after the shoot.
+K6UDA all good. not looking for a correction, mostly wanted to share in the meta-level amusement.
Mutually amused. 73, Bob K6UDA
