Now this episode I really liked. Never seen a subway, much less rode one. It's freaky that there's that many people in one place. I would be lost as hell in NYC (though I did go to the mail processing place right next to the river in Hoboken once to drop off junk mail from Pennsylvania back in 1995, so I could see NYC from there). To be honest...I was lost as hell in New Jersey, but did find the bulk sorting warehouse eventually. I think it was 60,000 pounds of junk mail I hauled. That's when I got super scared I had gotten lost, because I saw the Giants stadium and was like...how the hell did I end up in the city? New Jersey isn't in New York City! (pre-gps and cell phones, paper maps only please!)
I told dispatch...do not ever...ever ever...send me back there. Tiny streets not made for a 53 foot box trailer, super sketch traffic, roads all willy nilly...but it was...uhhh..."an interesting trip I would rather not repeat in a semi truck again".
Immediately after that, they sent me to Canada. That's another story...but guess what I learned about Quebecois 300 miles north of the border?
If you said, "they don't speak english and you can't understand french"...you were right! They were all very nice people though. Couldn't understand a lick of any of that turkey gobble of theirs though.

I really like when he talked about the notion of law enforcement as merely black and white not being a thing. Instead, it presents a layered reality where officers are not only enforcers but also social workers, peacemakers, and occasionally, reluctant warriors. This kind of nuanced view is important because it highlights that effective policing are not just about controlling crime but about understanding and adapting to the many shades of human behavior in one of the most intense urban environments in the world.

Lived in NYC my whole life, and personally, think the safety issue is blown out of proportions. If youre constantly watching the news and tuning in to the citizens app you’ll feel like the city is on fire, but day to day, most people are not running into crime as its portrayed to be.

179st F train might be the worst most grimey and filthy subway stop in the whole city. And to think I’ve slept on those floors during the winter when I was a heroin addict had to either sleep on the floor of that station or when we got kicked out would just ride and sleep on that train from 179 in queens all the way to Coney Island in Brooklyn and back just makes me super grateful to be out of that life and sober today because the worst part about that lifestyle and especially after hearing this episode and the way dude talked about it was that I was actually fine with it and totally comfortable living that way is mind boggling to me today. It’s like I lived two different lives. But the things I’ve seen in that subway system were completely outrageous. No human being should go thru or have to see. 🫡 to yous both for the episode this one really hit me cus I actually experienced it. Just saw it and lived it from the complete opposite side than this guy did. Big salute QGTM🫡🗽🗽

I live in Mississippi. I have gotten traffic cam tickets from NYC with those paper tags, of a car I owned for my daughter when she was a minor. The plate was surrendered in 2018. I sent evidence from my DMV stating this. My daughter’s car was a 4 door 2012 Chevy Malibu, the car in the photo is a 2 door Honda Accord. The city said my proof was invalid. They also said I accrued over $900 in tickets. What can I do? An attorney told me fuck them. What can they do!
