Now this episode I really liked. Never seen a subway, much less rode one. It's freaky that there's that many people in one place. I would be lost as hell in NYC (though I did go to the mail processing place right next to the river in Hoboken once to drop off junk mail from Pennsylvania back in 1995, so I could see NYC from there). To be honest...I was lost as hell in New Jersey, but did find the bulk sorting warehouse eventually. I think it was 60,000 pounds of junk mail I hauled. That's when I got super scared I had gotten lost, because I saw the Giants stadium and was like...how the hell did I end up in the city? New Jersey isn't in New York City! (pre-gps and cell phones, paper maps only please!) I told dispatch...do not ever...ever ever...send me back there. Tiny streets not made for a 53 foot box trailer, super sketch traffic, roads all willy nilly...but it was...uhhh..."an interesting trip I would rather not repeat in a semi truck again". Immediately after that, they sent me to Canada. That's another story...but guess what I learned about Quebecois 300 miles north of the border? If you said, "they don't speak english and you can't understand french"...you were right! They were all very nice people though. Couldn't understand a lick of any of that turkey gobble of theirs though.
*Erin Marie Olszewski nurse whistleblower expose 2020 NYC* get her on the show and why didn't NYPD prosecute all medical doctors, the medical gaslighting, medical upcoding, allegedly 33% kickbacks between doctors, then a genocide by medical doctors caught on camera exposing what medical doctors were doing almost everywhere for decades if not longer?
man i love the variety of this podcast, easily becoming one of my top 3! and its actually crazy that theres basically a whole city under newyork quite fascinating
I really like when he talked about the notion of law enforcement as merely black and white not being a thing. Instead, it presents a layered reality where officers are not only enforcers but also social workers, peacemakers, and occasionally, reluctant warriors. This kind of nuanced view is important because it highlights that effective policing are not just about controlling crime but about understanding and adapting to the many shades of human behavior in one of the most intense urban environments in the world.
Lived in NYC my whole life, and personally, think the safety issue is blown out of proportions. If youre constantly watching the news and tuning in to the citizens app you’ll feel like the city is on fire, but day to day, most people are not running into crime as its portrayed to be.
He answered that in the first few minutes of the episode. New York City had 386 homicides last year. Thats a simple google search I looked up, thats quite a lot brother.
@@metalfacedeyedeas9760 my point was, if youre looking at statistics, you'd assume the average NY'er encounters murder or high level crime, once or multiple times in their life. Truth is, most do not. Also, a lot of the crimes are concentrated in specific areas within the 5 boros.
