*** Apologies for the previous video being 30 seconds, guys. I'm not sure what happened, but it was definitely a glitch on UA-cam's part. Regardless, I hope you guys enjoy this video and I hope all goes well after this.
You see, I finally convinced my mom to let me get a tarantula, (I guess she thinks it's weird for a girl in middle school to want something like that, haha.) so I was wondering if you could give me some recommendations on what kind of tarantula to start out with? Also, advice on feeding, enclosure set up, and transferring the spider from its shipping container into its enclosure would be helpful! I want to give the spider a long, happy, healthy life . . And I want the same for me, so no bites please! xD
I love spiders but I am terrified of roaches...I lived in Hawaii for a year. Some of the roaches there are almost tarantula sized and some species of them can fly and will chase you. After dealing with that, you will love spiders forever and be very grateful they are here. If not, our planet would be overtaken by insects! Good to hear these videos are helping ease your fears. Not all spiders are scary, the larger ones actually tend to have the weakest venom. Interesting little fact you might like to know!
Baby spider feeding videos are so popular because the little guys need to put up a little fight . More entertaining than the one shot kills of the big guys 😊
Girl: Dad remember when I killed a butterfyl and you said “no butter for a week”? Dad: yeah Girl: and when I killed a honeybee, You said no honey for a week? Dad; yeh? That was a week ago? Girl: Mom just killed 2 cockroaches, Should I tell her? Dad: how is that supposed- 😳 ....
I know roaches have their place in our ecosystem and are important in nature but anyone who ever has had to deal with a roach infestation has to find this video a little bit satisfying. LMAO! It's good to see that spiders love roaches because most of us humans probably DON'T!
You're really natural behind the camera, makes for some really enjoyable commentary! I love the editing as well, very minimalistic and showing the very best bits. Loving your content :)
Bekka- Spiders are very underrated pets as far as being low maintenance. They don't need cleaning or expensive pumps like fish. You don't have to feed them rodents like a snake and turtles are adorable but unless you have a large enclosure and clean it often they smell really foul. Lizards have their issues too and need a varied diet and proper temperature. Tarantulas have NONE of these issues and do not need walking, bathing or brushing. They don't bark and they don't poop on your floor and their tank doesn't need to be cleaned that often because they don't poop that often. The only minor annoyance is the cricket noises during feeding time. You also must remove the cricket corpses or those will smell. Other than that, spiders are without a doubt one of the easiest animals to keep. Once you have one, it's hard to not want more because it is really inexpensive to feed them. I have owned over a dozen in my lifetime, since I was a kid. Keep in mind that once you start the tarantula hobby, it can be addicting. I have to stop myself from wanting to buy another one!
PositivePyramid Programming That's so true! I just bought my first tarantula yesterday. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous because the pet shop only had a Ephebopus Murinus, and I've heard that they're not the best for beginners, but I don't mind being thrown in the deep end. The color contrast on her is stunning, however. I'm gonna be bringing her home tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to giving her a proper home (she's been in the shop for over 6 months, she's an adult, and her enclosure is TINY!)...
That is great! Best of luck with your new tarantula. Just do your research on that species and the rest you kind of learn as you go. Each spider will also have their own personality regardless of species, so just take your time and eventually she will get used to things and probably calm down. Good luck!
Love your videos :3 you actually made me decide to get my own tarantula, so now I have a beautiful baby girl and I absolutely love her, thanks Exotics Lair!! :P
I am a new subscriber. Glad you remade your feeding video. Nice job. I had tarantulas back in the 1980s. I miss them. Thank you for putting your pets on camera.
You are a great UA-camr! You inspire me so much. I used to cringe at your vids but you have helped me get over my fear of spiders. Now I am wanting a Arizona blonde T.
Just got my first two slings!! You and Petko unknowingly talked me into it...!! Now I find myself re-watching all your sling videos and rubbing my hands together ahhaha :D
I love your voice, man.... but i could not live in your house, I would have the constant anxiety of tarantula escape. I would seal off each room with adhesive tape on the door lock! Hahah love your videos
I had an ex who felt the same way...He constantly would say "I have nightmares that one of your spiders will get out of the tank and I will wake up with it on my face." Then, I got a snake and he said, "What if it gets out and chokes me in my sleep?" Hahahaha! This was a corn snake so this would be totally impossible because they are not strong enough to choke a human. Things didn't last long with this guy. He probably still has nightmares about my pets! LMFAO!
PositivePyramid Programming I'm fascinated by this type of animal but I'm sure I could not own one of them with peace in my mind. hahaha I know that even a dog can hurt you but maybe it's just a psychological thing! I love this channel anyway
PositivePyramid Programming anyway I think that owning them in my country is illegal (Italy). Or maybe it's not illegal but you have to declare them somewhere
Hahahahahaha! Yeah, owning spiders isn't for everyone. I only had one spider escape in 20 years of owning spiders and it was a tiny baby. Tarantulas are actually very fragile creatures and can die from a short fall. Believe it or not, there have been ZERO deaths from tarantula bites in North America's history. There is a lot of needless fear over tarantulas when they are not the deadliest spiders. Smaller spiders actually tend to be the deadly ones. There are only a few known species of tarantula that can harm a human and even then, the bite isn't fatal, just really painful. The majority of the biggest, scariest looking spiders are not usually deadly. Their size, bright colors and prickly hairs are mostly to make predators avoid them. Spiders adapted to look scary to predators and humans are a predator and we eat just about anything, including tarantulas in some cultures. You look much scarier to a spider than it looks to you. I hope this helps ease your fears!
Maybe because tarantulas are AWESOME! I got my first one when I was 8 years old and have had many over the years. Out of all pets, they probably are one of the most addicting. Once you buy one, you will want more!
Your channel has helped my arachnophobia tremendously. I even find some of them cute, like the Green Bottle Blue and the Guyana Pink Toe. The way you speak to them in such a reassuring and non-aggressive tone makes me think of them like little fur-babies (especially the furry ones). Thank you!
Oh UA-cam you had one job lol. I'm not a fan of spiders at all nor afraid of them but it's so interesting to see a spider eat. I do love you're skeleton and Mexican red rub spiders there so cute. First time commented and randomly found this channel one late night. Keep up the great work.

Hey! I was wondering if you got my comment on the last video? xD I had some questions for you! Awesome spiders by the way!
When I watched it it was five minutes. I got to see the full video. But that was right when you uploaded it. Maybe it glitched out later on.
Hey, what was your question?
Shelby, yeah it glitched only after an hour.
Hope it doesn't happen again !

He's just fun!
The reason I love watching slings eat is because the roaches are relatively really large, and so you get some AWESOME takedowns!
I’m afraid of spiders, but I love watching videos of people feeding their Spiders and stuff. Great video 👏🏻😀
