i think the trick is to just get a good defensive position and sell goods until you have basically unlimited gold, then you will not run out of stone when you attack with catapults. Use basic buy wood, sell crossbow, etc. Also i think crossbowmen might be better than horse archer in this context. You should be definitely hitting max population before moving out too. Also I was shocked to not see you have any fire throwers in your main gate maze. You can do it man, you're my stronghold hero. Set gamespeed to max and let them throw armies at you for an hour or so while you bank up. Then save game and go from there.
Thanks! Yeah will probably have to maximize my economy for this one, I didn't go that far I thought I already have enough
Also I did have flamethrowers, but eventually sent them to their death because I thought I was strong enough to hold anything on unit cap!
+1, I had managed to save upto 100k in this mission, all thanks to crossbows!
Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results
trebuchets and fire. if you are patient enough you can ruin wolfs economy, weaken him, and then attack. setting those iron mines on fire, in front of wolf castle, will burn many units that are marching by
5:16 I was laughing so hard 😂😂😂😂
My two first thoughts were:
1) Improve your economy and wait. You also can improve your recruit capacity by spamming mills (because you will be basically stockpile manpower and will be able to access it at will by just unemploying everyone). That would help tremendously, I think.
2) Try to build mangonels on towers and focus his economy, especially barn, because that way you will bleed him dry manpower-wise (no food = no popularity = no recruits). Ideally would be of course to burn his economy but that. doesn't seem feasible. In a last ditch effort you could theoretically use assassins for that (get in, kill the barn and houses) but that would obliterate your economy.
The only way I see you winning here is by using non-conventional tactics, since META fails since you physically can't keep up with the sheer amount of units at enemy's disposal
Once you have enough crossbow men for defence, start to make armoured units like pikemen and swordsmen. Send a big army of them to Wolf. They should be able to live through the arrows. Use about 10-20 catapults to quickly get though the thick wall and pikemen to dig the moat. GL :) Oh and of course can't forget to use portable shields!
You can "get around" the unit cap in a way. A catapult counts as 3 units: 2 engineers and the catapult itself. So with a unit cap of 300 you can make 100 catapults. However, you can still build siege equipment if you're at the unit cap. So if you get 300 engineers first, then make catapults you can get 150 catapults in total. That 50% boost in army strength might help you out.
Also you mentioned you were getting nowhere because the wolf simply rebuilds his towers and manganels, but if he's running out of money in the process he will eventually not be able to build back up. (if you don't run out of stone/money first)
The problem with that is that Wolf in this mission has the Best economy in the Game compared to all the other Lords, he, Richard and also Emir have a ton of gold around 30K most of the time.
Though there are really strange instances were for whatever reason they spend their economy faster in some games than in others, for example the first time I beat mission 80 Wolf and Richard seemed to have unlimited gold since even with constant pressure from me they still had between 20K to 30K gold, but on my 3rd time beating Mission 80 I followed the same order I always take to beat the Lords (Nizar, Caliph, Emir, Richard, Wolf and Wazir) and for whatever reason Richard and Wolf didn't had too much gold (I think they had below 10K which for an AI Lord isn't that much) which is strange since I wasn't attacking them that much before my actual siege.
Wolf will in this particular situation always have enough money and stones for repair. The real strategy is not to destroy tower completely but leave them in a crumbled state. Then he cannot rebuild and it's easy to attack with 100+ macemen
Wolf seems to have a weak spot where there is an Iron Deposit preventing him from building a moat. It's right in front of you when coming from your base. You could send Assassins through this gap and then on top of the towers to clear them out, while getting support fire from Horse Archers. Moving on, you could probably rush Wolf to death with many stacked Assassins by doing so or at least deal good damage to him.
Please keep going, the video was good:)
I'd think a combination of trebuchets and mangonels work better. The mangonels would force him to continually using his stone reserves to repair the walls and the trebuchets have longer range, so not only you can aim for towers, but you can also try to aim for other buildings force him to spend as much money as possible (throw cows if possible). Trebuchets can also work wonders to wear big crowds fast when they're on the rally point by throwing cows at them. If enough layers of walls are destroyed, you can then attempt to burn his entire castle with a few fire ballista... Probably
glad your back
Finally back to the series 😍🙏
There are many strategies to consider. Mass producing trebuchets instead of catapults? Making several hundred assassins? Several hundred macemen/pikemen and a siege tower? Time isn't on your side with enemy castle shooting you so You may just as well try a rush onto the enemy walls. One tile of moat should be easy to dig.
Siege towers are pretty useless against this wolf's castle , he has moat between 1st and 2nd layer of walls
I think a combination of shields + crossbows + fire ballista will do the job. It would be strong enough to withstand the attack waves, and it will have enough destructive power. IMO nothing is more effective than repeated fires in destroying an economy.
This is the one map where I found religion useful, because you have limited population. You can also either go positive fear factor and defend easier or negative fear factor and have more efficient stone collecting. Btw since you have iron, make some armor to sell for profit
I beat it this year through economic ruining all my enemies, you'll need to get an absurd amount of catapults, attack his walls from max range, and rely on the thrown stone trajectory to kill his buildings. Say close to your towers for protection. Do not advance, let him spend gold to buy stone to rebuild - if you can get his inns, it's 100 gold each. It takes time, but I ruined a 300k gold Wolf this way.
Also, new catapults cost 150 gold and come with 20 stone. Buying 20 stone costs 280 gold. Rather than refill, you can rebuild them for efficiency.
I like that new approach
You can literally rush the Wolf in this mission which makes the challenge pretty much like a normal playthrough. Saw it being done with assasins, the trick is to actually dont send too many because the wolf will go into panic mode and recruit lots of units so you have to get the right amount of them. Also you can use the gathering point exploit to make them move faster
your mounted archers can be set to patrol in small groups and they can fire back while dodging arrows and drawing fire so that other units can pass.
trebs have longer range, set up a few and take out the water pot, he might not rebuild it. Then fire ballistae can set fires.
not sure how big an area shields affect, or if they still work when unmanned. but they count towards the cap on top of the engineer manning them, so maybe make less or unman them.
if all else fails, turtle and wait until the AI screws up its economy. buy pitch and dig pitch ditches if the attacks are too big
....maybe instead use mangonels from your closest possible tower or use trebuchet to takedown one side, and than attack with horse + shields horde, but don't focus on building leather, I say use farm land for ale and wheat production, and then use negative fear factor to along with religion (+3) boost the production and focus on selling crossbows, extra bread, extra ale (they can be sold for almost 200 gold if stockpile has enough of it), my point boost the production with negative fear factor and sell. it will help in gold reserves and I guess with enough stock in your stockpile, it can be replenished any time.(Also produce iron, may seem worthless, but with negative boost, it can help in weapon selling)
Lmao your savefile names at 4:03
Edit: just watched the second video lmaoooooo
maybe you could have a small number of knights and a fire ballista in addition to what you've been doing. the knights could block wolf from rebuilding his walls, and the fire ballista could burn down his granary or armory. eventually he might run out of resources to rebuild.
or once the knights have blocked him from rebuilding, you can send in whatever army you used to cover your catapults and try your luck.
somebody also mentioned positive fear factor. that one could help keep the knights alive longer, and make your limited army size less of a problem in general.
haven't even touched this mission..........
waiting for part 2, as well as any other challenge on the same level of difficulty as this one
Build a small wall and put 2 trebuchets behind it. You can easily take out the left towers. Do not demolish them entirely but wait leave the pieces behind so he does not build a new tower. Repeat for the towers in the middle and I think you will succeed
if they dont make a crusader definitive edition then it will be such a shame...even if stronghold DE is out im still playing crusader, cuz its a timeless game and sooo fun even after hundreds hrs :D love your videos :)
I can't see any chance you can put forward without disarming Kilph's castle first. To break through Wolf's Moat, you must have at least one kind of melee unit. But the unit cap simply doesn't allow you to produce enough raged units to clear both castles' firelines and send a moat-filling troop. Based on the enemy production rate shown in the video, I can't figure out how to do this.
Cool Chain Lightning banner.
Wolf showing off the only counter to catapults - ungodly AI micro with repairing
Seriously, this is one thing I really hope that gets addressed/fixed/removed in Crusader DE. I have my own troops standing next to the walls/towers and the AI will still repair them, even when I'm risking killing my own troops with my catapults
there's a tiny space where the wolf couldn't dig the moat bc of the iron, maybe you could use that to get some siege towers next to the inner wall
I did the same thing once. You need crossbow man and fire balistas in the back and then try to ram the first wall open so you can dig through the trench and the get your own crossbow man on his tower. Clue is to constanly reproduce crossbow man
I use to try this so many times the maine problem is your army at first is small and will be destroyed while marching towards wolf
Wait a sec from the very start. "Killing Wolf first" and "cannot attack anyone else until Wolf is dead" are two different sets of rules. Second one is stricter while in the first one you are allowed to block other lords and obliterate their economy and/or castles while leaving finishing blow for later
Maybe if you could hit the wolf with around 10 trebuchets that stand safe behind your towers, you can wear him out until he has no gold left to recover, and then hit him really hard. Maybe the trebuchets can also make a "path" so that you can just rush in with macelmen fron the front side. But i dont know if tue trebuchets got the range.
Simply block the quarries and let the oxen yoke work next to your supply warehouse. Then you have more income and stones. Then build more fire ballistae against armored units and work your way against Mangonels with trebuchets. Leave the ruins of the towers standing so that the wolf does not build them again.
do you have enough caws with so much lether armor buildins will they work because when i make 4-5 so close to the armory there is always empty in diary 0/3 cows
I play this level Fury used to go and I won that already the first thing I did not attack but to defence my castle I build more than two towers and I put fire power I mean that Arabian firefighter that makes fire to strength my then I did then I improve my economy in all the way the quick way derank the wolf economy just put that in his Crossgate in front of his Gate so is closes economy all the way around so he don't have enough resources to build more towers defense so then you can attach use your caterpillars to attack his towers.
0:11 "Worst Position in the game"
Hades Mission: "Are you sure about that?"
In the wall trap defending your position, use firethrowers placed on the middle wall in addition to the crossbowmen on towers to better protect against swarms of heavily armed units. Also, does this challenge allow to damage other lords' economy/castles? If yes, do it
I did the challenge yesterday, for me I was lucky that the game bugged where wolf did mount the tower ballista with engineers, i did it in the 3rd attempt using 50 horse archers, 50 Crossbowmen, 30 shields, 8 fire ballista and finally 25 assassins which were dying constantly and being replenished constantly.
MAYBE Assassins will be of use? Together with crossbows and shields? Or some knights with macemen? Siege towers?
cool video
I'm not sure if it would help you, but you can safely make 2 trebuchets and build a wall in front of them. I use it to help me to ruin wolf's and wazir's economy. It might help you to get him weaker before the attack.
Make them close from your towers in the limit. If you're not playing playing with ucp patch, you can easily keep wolfs and wazirs towers destroyed (you must try destroy the mangonel towers as well). After ruin wazir economy, you can try to reach the back part of wolfs castle keeping the gatehouse closed is a good idea, but burn inside the castle with a fire balista is probably a better idea.
Maybe you can use ladder man and spear guys to attack wolf, bypassing the need for catapults.
You can try break in with Knights and trebuchets.
Id say you need at least 400 Horse Archers to clear Khalif & Wolf and fight-off the attack-waves.
Use trebuchet to snipe wolf's economy buildings
if you break towers they wont delete them but they will still be useless, just use trebuchets, eleminate the mangonel towers and gg.
also it is possible to rush wolf at the beggining and use remaining forces to strike lionheart (i think i did it with maceman or assasins, but not sure now), also it is quite hard to do so It took me like few tries
That ruins the challenge though, that's the whole point!
@@Jefflenious i completely agree
Destroy towers and walls with catapults and then at the right moment attack walls with at least 60+ macemen with +5 F Factor and try to snipe lord
Advice Bag ubuse with workers :D
Very hard! You can only achieve this by exhausting Caliph of the gold and you'll need to go either siege equipment (store at least 1000 stone on stockpile) & crossbows or go with horse archers, crossbows mix and few melee units only to finish him off!
Another choice which would be cheating is to just basically kill him in first 5 mins of the game xD
i usually build a disconected tower and put the lord up there, they stop attacking but their economy become so massive
da*n I love to exploit games but never though doing that would actually work xD
@@unknown0soldier its actually work just fine, but not so much if you use the UnofficialCrusaderPatch, i think
Interesting....
Best game by Firefly Studios, it’s incredible how the following 3D games are terrible comparing to Stronghold Crusader.
Last time I was playing this map was a month ago, and I killed wolf with the most random way possible.
How did I kill him? I burned him. lmao
Caliph and Nazir were dead at the time, and I headed to wolf with fire ballistas and some horses.
I was trying to take down the mangonels and ballistas on his towers.
I did do that, and I did set some of his buildings on fire. and while I was trying to find a way to enter his castle and remove his moats around his walls, I got the message that he's dead.
Didn't even enter his walls xD
use asassins they can kill lord directly with some horse archer
Have you tried this in retraced? 🤫
trebuchet with cows
Why not using apothecaries to heal your soldiers up?
Don’t trebuchet have more range?
You can actually just rush wolf with assassins/macemen, it's literally the easiest strat on this level
Counterpoint - it's not fun
@@VasiliyOgniov not saying it is fun, only saying that killing him first is the easiest way
hi jeff
Rush with assassins
I'm stuck on mission 48 😭😭😭😭😭
whats so hard about it? 😂
Oh that mission is tricky! I do have a guide on it though: ua-cam.com/video/KZJWc94IrHE/v-deo.html
You're forced to stay inside your keep for a while and not build anything else! (Except the quarries)
Also, I think you were a bit lazy/optimistic with this one. Thought it would be easy so didn't go for a strong economy and it hurt you so much xD
Make larger army
I spend 6 hours for this mission 😅
HEFT HADO 6ULO ПОКУПАТЬ
Stronghold crusader > stronghold de.
Bro plzzzzzzzz play Stronghold crusader 2 😢
It’s awful😂
It just doesn't feel right. Never gives the same vibe as SC 1
big noob
