My grandpa was a WW2 veteran, he was a German sailor that was briefly stationed on a Uboat (unknown which) before serving on the Prinz Eugen for the remainder of his service until the ship surrendered to the British. He was quite old but enjoyed watching Wolfpack uboat videos on his iPad. He also really loves your other content. He ended up departing in San Diego after the ships surrender and met my grandma there. He defected and married my grandma. He told stories of fighting against the Hood, a life under the Nazi Party rule (he wasn’t a party member or so he claimed), how much they respected the Royal Navy, and how life at sea was one of his favorite times of his life “except a pesky war had me engaging people my age for no good reason”. His last video he watched was your Uboat official launch, we watched it together as we watched all of your content together. RIP Grandpa Donald (formerly known as Heinrich)
You got lucky when you escorted the officer back when Taft in Exile did his mission he had over 40 ships go after him it was like the entire Royal Navy was hunting him down I was curious to know what that officer knew
Tried intercepting a freighter flying an Argentinian flag and it didn't stop. Sank it, turned out it was a British ship flying a false flag. Thought that was a pretty cool mechanic.
@Wolfpack345 looking forward to it when it happens buddy, keep up the videos, nice to chill out and watch half and hour of sub action, thinking of getting the game, would like it to also be online and do some wolf packing with other players maybe
Blueprints are unlocked only by completing specific missions in specific campaigns. In this case, he has to complete at least Stage 2 of the Tonnage War to get the VIIB. Then either get lucky with the Atlantic War mission offerings (but you have to complete Stage 3 so you need a good roll and get those constantly) or transferring to La Spezia in the Mediterranean sea would be the easiest to get another blueprint for the VIIC. After that he will be more or less in the time of the Black Pit campaign where he can get another blueprint for the last variant currently available, the VIIC/41. After that there are more blueprints but not enough uboat variants implemented in the game as of now.
Being ex Military (Aussie Defence Force) I laughed pretty hard at 'I'm tired! But we're at battle stations; here, have some coffee!' haha. Enjoying your content mate, keep up the good work.
I've posted this before: the Type II was actually a coastal defence boat and not designed for long ocean missions. Hence the limited space, the few weapons, the low speed, etc. Obviously the game developers had a different opinion.
I'm not sure if it's how friendly ai behave or not, but I've instigated attacks on convoys not fully aware where friendly subs are, then every destroyer goes after the friendlies and I'm left alone with the fleeing cargo ships to gun them down with the deck gun
Love the uboat gameplay, after watching you play sub sims for what feels like years, I’m finally dipping my toes in on the sim setting! Thanks for all your videos
excellent job eyeballing torpedoes against those drifting freighters! a shame there were too many warships to safely surface and poke some holes into more targets with the AA gun
Thanks for posting this! You've got a great voice and character for it! "Let's get the heck out of here!" 😄 By the way, thanks for doing it for this amount of time, the longer videos are better and allow the viewer time to really get into it. The graphics on this look so good! Please try out the latest Police Simulator.
I did this mission. I took the shortest route, north around/along the coast... A battleship went west of my route, as I was closer to the coast. Yes, diving to evade, surface for speed.
you play this game quite a bit different than i do, i spend 90 percent of the time in first person, i just like the experience of being inside the sub, cool video though man
Argentina was a Spanish colony originally. It's not that unusual that they'd still trade with Spain. That's probably why there are so many Argentinian ships around.
would it be possible for you to try out "iron wolf VR" ? The "Story" is rather short(9 missons) but there is an open world mode with time compression like in Uboat. You may need a couple of friends to fully get immersed or justt have to enable all automattic helpers. I think you would love the vr experince of being inside an submarine and Desttreuing merchant ships
It wasn't two convoy's. It was one, and once the Wolfpack set in and they scrambled, if they can't get back together quick enough, they'll split up and go in different directions, with the warships usually splitting up as well. I ran into one where the warships went with one group and the rest stayed and hunted for uboats. I took off after the second group and had my pickings with nothing to worry about other than zig-zagging
1) You don't receive a bonus for remaining undetected during that "officer rescue" missions. 2) You can freely sink that other British ship in the port. 3) I went back to Larochelle using the most direct way, never encountered any warship on the way back. No idea why this is considered a "hard" mission. It was very easy.
The nimbleness of those freighters is likely due to some config problem in the ship bundle (are those are from there, they aren't vanilla). Should check with Link about it
I love your U Boat videos ! Always hear the Sabaton :D "U 569 makes a contact and lead them ! U 94 Scores a kill in the dark! U 124 Sinking four in two approaches! 406 Suffers failure at launch !"
If you get a chance, can you show how to use the cans of diesel lubricant? When I right click on the engines, I don't see how to use it. But then once my engineer seemed to use it on his own. Wish I knew how it works.
I failed the "Stay Undetected" objective 5 minutes after leaving port when the RAF saw me. How a boat sailing due west from La Rochelle is clearly going to Vigo (and not to the middle of the Atlantic) is beyond me lol
What difficulty settings do you use? Now I'm finally playing Uboat I'd be interesting to learn of any strategies or schedules you use with crew and task management.
You should invest those reputation points at headquarters. Especially now that you have that KM-dude as he can work on any research project (jack of all trades) *and* he'll speed up research quite significantly. The HQ-button is in that pull-down menu on the right side of the screen and with enough points and the right officers assigned to research, you can get new tech there pretty quickly. I just unlocked the T5 homing torpedo on my play-through ... in early/mid 1941. I'm not sure if research will only enable you to get stuff quicker/before their historical dates and they'll become available eventually on their own if you don't use HQ... or if you're stuck with 1939-tech forever if you don't research anything. Personally, I've stopped using reputation points for anything but research as the more advanced stuff will cost three or four points each. I did buy both of the "additional officer on board"-favors, which I think is worththe cost (running seven officers on my crew), but most of the other stuff you can spend those points on is a bit useless.
Do you have the ability to flood your decks awash to minimize profile? Also with the visual of diesel fumes I wonder if you put your stern to an enemy does it help with concealment?
so yes the surface is less exposed but the smoke is still present but you have the advantage of diving much faster under the sea because you do not have to fill the ballast with water but use the diving bars
Yes and no. There is a button to go decks awash, the problem is it's poorly implemented as we speak and the uboat will either be at periscope depth at a weird diving plane angle (unless it got fixed) or very inconsistent overall. At least visually it looks bad and unlike SH3 you can't go to the coning tower physically like that and use the binoculars or UZO. But it will use the diesel engines.
"Whats with all these Argentinian ships?"
Its a surprise tool that will help us later
Got the reference
😂😂

He had a secret stash of earl grey tea.

How he's not upgraded to a better sub yet after all the success is beyond me
You need a blueprint. Which I do not have sadly

It amazes me that anyone went to war in these Type II boats. The Type VII and IX were dangerous enough. Good work Wolf!

Appreciate the videos. You make this game look easy. Im just an older Vet and I find it alot to try and grasp.

It would be interesting if they added a download which allowed Vigo as a secret resupply port a la Das Boot
Glad to see a new one! I have watched all of your other videos, I am really enjoying the series.
Can’t wait for the chance for you to operate in the Mediterranean
don't forget the research with reputation in the menu at headquarters ;)
I have it set to auto. So things unlock at the times they did historicaly

I normally really really dislike the game's alternate missions (aka other than just patrol grid orders) but that one was interesting
Guess I wanted to clarify this was the Vigo mission.
Sneaking into docks is fun, and there's still missions where you can drop off a spy while hitting freighters on the way there and back
I am literally subscribed to your channel for these Uboat vids! 😃
Oh boy, you are gonna lose your mind when you find his silent Hunter 3 playthroughs!! 😁

I did this mission on the surface in Vigo without being spotted! Too paranoid, I just hugged the Spanish coast and returned to France without detours.

If there are other U-boats in the vicinity, you can look up their position with ALT and give them orders even if you don't have visual contact.

Always love the storytelling
Great job, captain! The Uboat series is great :)
Really enjoying this series
Are you aware you can sort your officers on your toolbar by clicking and draging them, I have skipper, executive, engineers, radio guy
Yay Wolfpack video!
WE are still in the early war, and the Allies are still low on ressources! If you run this mission later(1942 or 1943) , you will get RESISTANCE!!
Great video!
Just one thing, you have the game resolution so high that it's hard to read anything on the hud or see it clearly, at least for me. ;)
good stuff as always. press and hold alt on map page to see other uboat positions.
I really enjoy watching Wolfpack345's videos. I have an Xbox, but unfortunately there. isn't a single U-boat game on it, which is such a shame.

Just coffee, no Pervitin
A sensitive and secret mission you say? Could you repeat that slightly louder in this comically large microphone device I have?
I really do wish that there was an "Operation Drumbeat" in the game. That would have been so much fun.

just a question, how do you plot a course with multiple points?
I guess Otto Kretschmer (U-99) didn't get out in time this time.
Why do you not use periscope search on surface? US submarines still do this as a dedicated long range visual search…
Well done captain
R.I.P. U-99.
Was it cold in those compartments? How tf did they just have the meat hanging like that?
