great to see, just a person keeping history alive, amazing to see how many shells were fired in a day, i live near ypres and still they find ammunition to this day on the fields, had a friend with a cafe at the "rijselpoort" who had a sort of museum like this. I recommend ypres to everyone to visit, not only for the war monuments but it is also a beautiful village to walk around and enjoy.
Hey all, I'm looking to get a handful of dirt and some spent Lee enfield 303 casings from the Courcelette area. My great grandfather fought and was injured during his time with the Canadian 22 Battalion. He was injured by artillery shrapnel on Sept 29 1916. I'm looking to create a display in his honor and I was wondering if anyone has any contacts that might be able to help me. Thank you in advance.

Hello Mat, great video mate, I would love to do what you do and visit these historic sites, I'm so jealous, Lee.
Thanks Lee!
So glad to see this video I was at the cafe in 2018 with the NSW Premier Memorial Scholarship but we weren’t able to see the outside are so thank you
My pleasure!
It does show difference of the trench warfare of the Europeans was vs open warfare of the Americans was so radical in thinking.
Isn’t this the cafe with the bar that has the ends of the shells sliced off and shellacked over?
Yes, that’s the one.

I am American but my great grandpa fought for the Germans in ww1 as a doctor. He has to cut peoples legs off and do horrendous things
Been there a few times, the last time 3 weeks ago. Don't drink the beer, it's rubbish and pricey.
