Machines like this are worth their weight in gold in urban/heavy urban environments. All that hardware on the boom must come at the cost of quite a bit of lifting capacity. Neither of those two things were mentioned.

so does this digger retain standard stick lift capacity when the boom is tucked in?

Hi Justin! The stick lifting capability remains the same but as the boom becomes more tucked in, the boom lifting increases as the weight becomes closer to the machine. You can actually lift larger weights with the VAB machine over a standard boom machine, because you are able to lift closer to the machine in all positions. We hope this answers your question. I always thought the two piece boom looked dumb, but I have noticed they are quite popular in europe. But I am slowly coming around in my thinking that they are more versitile.

Don't get me wrong, I like it. But, you better be/have a damn good operator. Being able to work closer to the machine also means it can destroy itself if not operated precisely. Cat has removed some of the idiot proofing and I sure wouldn't want one of these in a rental yard!!

You do know that if you pivot the boom it will do the same thing.. you can hit all four corners with the bucket to track ... what's the point in the other boom ???

I always thought you didn't want to touch the machine with the bucket? Guess I was taught wrong. That's why the boom is so long. And it has the boom angle on the mast. Learn to run the machine like the old guys had to. Just another point to wear out and flop.

With the fixed boom you can dig again the blade if you off set the arm so ??
