So what's the TBN range we should shoot for how how much tbn booster needs to be added for 1 point increase. This could be good info to know if someone wanted to get a oil analysis of unused oil to use TBN to the optimum level if lacking.
Diesel engine oils are normally formulated with a higher TBN to protect against the formation of acids caused by incomplete fuel combustion. The TBN of fresh oil is typically in the range of 7 to 10 for gasoline engines and 10 to 14 for diesel engines. The treatment rate varies, depending on the desired TBN increase, initial Total Base Number and the oil capacity of your engine. Chart at www.hotshotsecret.com/tbn-booster/
So....the answer is b.... Actually the fresh motor oil , for example , Petronas Syntium 7000LL has TBN = 7.2, Mannol 7715 TBN= 8.2. The alkaline additives of the package in the oil must neutralize the acidic component to a level where the characteristics of both components intersect. That is the point when required motor oil change. In reality 250 motor hours is the time of operated engine for the oil change . You did not answer about proposal how much TBN booster might be added in order to increase current TBN. I bet , top up by motor oil for the diesel engine to the used motor oil in petrol engine will increase TBN significantly at least for additional 50 hours of the operating petrol engine (I mean only top up 0.5 litre). I have GM engine on Chevrolet Aveo and since milage 120k miles started to perform top up by diesel motors motor oil. Now the car is 246k miles on the clock, regular oil change at 200 motor hours of operating (factory resours is 130k miles, by the way), no engine repairs , no increased oil consumption.
You can use TBN Booster with FR3 Friction Reducer or Stiction Eliminator. Our TBN Booster does have some FR3 in the formulation, but it is only a small amount.
With low sulfur fuel , you do not need such additives. Additionally, you should be extremely careful of such additives in case your engine is Turbocharged and or Gasoline Direct injection .
Good explanation, thank you.

So can that be used with the anti-friction product you have? Or the stiction problem you have simultaneously

Careful, don't add to this Direct Injection engines, since the calcium detergents increase LSPI (a kind of detonation).
