EAR Diocese Kibungo: Savings Week Celebration at Rukira Parish,Rurenge Local Church,October30, 2024.

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the Anglican Church of Rwanda, Diocese of Kibungo, in partnership with Hope International Rwanda, celebrated the achievements of savings groups operating within the Church. This annual event aims to celebrate milestones and encourage congregants to form and actively participate in groups for collaborative development activities. The event was attended by local leaders from Murama Sector in Ngoma District, as well as church leadership represented by Rev. Arch. Nsabimana Samuel.
Mukeshimana Vestina, who received a renovated home, kitchen, and bathroom, expressed deep gratitude for the support she received. Although she had previously wished to improve her living conditions, she lacked the means to do so. Now, filled with joy, she thanked the church-affiliated groups for their role in making it possible.
Rev. Arch. Nsabimana Samuel, representing the Bishop of EAR Diocese of Kibungo, noted that this was not the first time this kind of initiative had taken place, emphasizing that it is a core responsibility of the church. He also encouraged congregants to join savings groups and work diligently in their respective endeavors.
The head of social welfare for Murama Sector, Muhawenimana Vestine, urged Mukeshimana to take good care of her new home and protect it from damage. She also commended all church members for their commitment to considering and supporting their peers through acts of kindness and mutual assistance within the groups.
During this annual event, five radios were given to elders as a way to combat isolation. Additionally, food supplies were distributed. This year’s theme was, Save, Invest and Prosper as Prepared by the Ministry of Finance (Minecofine).
