Its sad that all the dance clubs of that time are gone. There will never be a time like that again. All I can say is that I'm glad to have seen it and been there.
Yes, you were indeed blessed to have experienced those times as I was..like the song sings, " ohhhhhh where did those yesterday's go" I will forevermore hold those memories close to my.. and to all of you so fortunate to have grew up in and around the magnificent city of New York..wow..what a life! ❤ 💃🌈❤
That is so true, they were wonderful times and for some reason that song in particular always bring back so many happy memories of those days. Sadly we only appreciate them now they're over
wasn't the disco period incredible? Now it seems to good to have actually been true. We'd be on a dance floor and turn away from our friends and start dancing with total strangers.
As a native New Yorker born in 1955 and still is living in Manhattan in 2023, this was one of my favorite songs from back in 1977. Many of my neighbors, relatives, and friends have since passed away. I wish I could go back into time when Disco music was popular and not the RAP garbage we here today. I love New York City because its the greatest city on the planet. I will be buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, New York when God Almighty calls me to glory. 🙏🙏🙏
Amen to that, New York is special and those were special times 👍 and let us not forget Mr and Mrs Kotter, Vinnie the Italian Stallion Barbarino, Freddy Boom Boom Washington, The Puerto Rican Jew Juan Epstein, little and gentle Arnold Horshack and my favorite Mr Woodman, our beloved Sweathogs. For those that have passed away may they rest in peace in the presence of Almighty God in Jesus name ✝️🙏🏻🇺🇸
"You're a native New Yorker, you should know the score by now" -Odyssey. I grew up in this era also, but I'm a Chicagoan, this was a hot R&B song back in the day. Not a "Mega Hit", but just a great song. Never been to New York, but the song has always put a picture in my mind of the New York vibe. Where did the times go?
My MOTHER PASSED AWAY IN NYC AFTER LIVING OVER 35 yrs in HARLEM A FEW YEARS AGO I USED TO DANCE WITH HER TO THIS SONG WHENEVER I VISITED HER WE DANCED @ THE LENOX LOUNGE , IT BRINGS TEARS TOMY EYES EVERYTIME !,, YALL HELP ME SALUTE THE LATE GREAT DORIS MARIE CURTIS ! I LOVE AND MISS YOU MOMMA!!!!

Of all the songs I knew and loved from the 70s and early 80s for some reason this 1 resonates with me the most, and it's the one which bring back so many happy memories of a great era which is sadly long gone now
Congratulations!!!!! This is the most beautiful tribute to NYC that I’ve ever seen. I love this music and the video is perfect. I had the lucky to be in NYC for four times and everytime I go to New York, I fall in love with this wonderful city.
I'm a native New Yorker extremely (some would say fanatically) proud of being born in that wonderful city. Born in the Bronx, and as an adult, I lived for 10 years in the 80s on the Upper West Side, one block away from Central Park. Those were glorious years. And, although I live in Southern California now, and because I'm a gentleman, I bite my tongue when I hear anyone praising Los Angeles.
The only one that comes close is "New York State of Mind" by Billy Joel. But that's when I'm chillin' and about to go to sleep. This right here is the ULTIMATE NYC anthem, I agree.
Yes a very good tune indeed . However ? If I may? Don't over look ? The other classic New Yorker classic . The Manhattan Transfer and their Boy from N.Y.C. But this is also for me ranked right up there. And the city? The Bronx is my native birth place that I'm still in love with even all these years later. The Big Apple will always be in my heart ❤. Grazie !! Ciao
Native New Yorker!! I love my birthplace, my childhood Hometown, crazy teenage years...... Miss ya NYC... So proud to have been "BORN & BRED IN THE CITY"
The best song ever my God this brings me back to when I was a kid in the 80s. We lived on Long Island but every Saturday we put on our best outfits and we're off to Grandmas and Uncles and tons of cousins in the Bronx. Great times I loved it I remember this song very well it reminds me of my crazy cousin Sonny who used to take us all over the Bronx.
Great life let us know what story with cousin . I grow up in Europe during communism and my mum cooked food for everyone we have friends Neigbours in our house and we was all short with food but happy we put everything together and had a smile on our face. I remember this song from that time I use to watch the blue sky and I thought if someone doing the same from other side of word and he is happy too. People had great values back then
I love the great cities of America and New York City is #1 on my list, followed by Chicago, and Boston. This song is a mental and emotional trip back to NYC. Thanks Odyssey!
The 2 things i miss about Manhatten is the skyline and the beautiful twin towers that graced the skyline of new york when the 2 towers were lost part of me felt sorry for the city new york such a beautiful city n so beautiful at night 🌃 forever new york will renain in My heart for ever indeed ❤🎉
PUERTO RICAN HERITAGE: These female singers, Louise (named Emma) and Lilliam (named Carmelita), were the granddaughters of Pedro Lopez, a White PUERTO RICAN, born in 1860, that emigrated in 1898, after the Spanish American War, to the then Danish West Indies island of Saint Thomas to work as a sugar cane planter and cutter. In 1922, a few years after the United States purchased these islands (Saint Thomas, Saint John and Saint Croix) from Denmark in 1917, Pedro who had widowed from his Black Saint Thomasian wife, moved with his only son Cyril Leonard Lopez to the city of New York, where he took the humble job of janitor of the apartment building at #54 100th St. East NY, a neighborhood then prominently Puerto Rican (East Harlem, best known as El Barrio). After his father died in New York, Cyril, born in 1904, was 27 when he married his Black American wife Lilliam from Pennsylvania. They kept living in the same apartment #11 of the same address, where he continued the work of his father as cleaner and kind of a handy man. They had two wonderful and musically talented daughters, born respectively in 1933 and 1935, Emma and Carmelita (a typical Puerto Rican nickname), names artistically changed (and later legally) to Louise and Lilliam. Mr. Cyril Lopez retired in the 1980's and returned to his native Saint Thomas and died there in 1996 at the age 92. The rest is history...
What a wonderful History lesson! These are some of the most talented music artists I've ever heard! This song is the sound of my young adulthood. It brings back beautiful memories of people and times etched into my heart and mind forever!
That is an incredible history lesson, thank you for sharing it. This truly is an outstanding song. My favorite line “ where did all those yesterdays go?” This could be the anthem of Disco!
I WILL ALWAYS CHERISH THIS AWESOME CLASSIC STILL LISTENING 2016 BORN IN BROOKLYN RAISE IN QUEENS I WILL ALWAYS BE A NATIVE NEW YORKER NO MATTER WHERE I LIVE 4EVER
This is a GREAT video TheRobin57. I LOVE this song. I was a dancing teenager at the clubs in the 70s and 80s and this was one of my MANY jams. So many native New Yorker memories. Thank you!

Watching this video touches memory and my heart when I live in New York. It's like no other city. I live in few cities in USA, going to NYC and feels great to go back and visit.
My #1 favorite, followed by "Love's Theme," by the great Mr. Barry White and the Love Unlimited singers/orchestra. Mr. White's composition is a classic also. The 1970s produced some of the best music ever, also the 1940s and 1960s. Musicians have saved us from our cruder selves!
This evening, have played this song about five times now, really enjoying some fond old memories. Then I remembered the TV series Taxi, think it came out after this song, in the late 70s.
jay love You native New Yorker people should use this beautiful tune for The New York National Anthem Song!!! Hey go to New York city hall and Request for it!!!
New York City is the greatest city in the world for a reason - make that many reasons - the best shopping, restaurants, nightlife - everything. Now that the New Year is upon us, we will make this city better than ever.
I was there just before Covid19, great moment, hotel 150 meters of Time Square between fourth and fith avenue, walking in Central Park under falling snow, I feel like a native New-Yorker !!!
I love this song since its release. Long before the internet, I have learned to know it through the radio services of the American Forces Network. My hometown Frankfurt am Main is Germany's "capital" of the finance business and has its highest office buildings. Best regards. 😍

I'm glad to know GDNY plays it every Friday! It defines NYC! It's an amazing piece of music. For many of us, it's the theme song of our youth. It reminds me of people, places, and things now gone. I really miss those days. Every time I see this on You Tube, I have to stop and play it!
