Fortune readings are a must when your building any stat and she gives you a money boost when you kill a monster with All-Out Attack. Match this with the skill above and you'll be rolling in dough in no time. 4. Always have a book in your inventory. There are several cutscenes during your daily train ride where Morgana suggest you read something to pass the time. These are important because no time will pass during this activity. bigmonaround I apprrciate this man. I think money is imoortant in this game, lets you get current equips in the Airsoft shop as well as stock up on healing items. Heres one more tip: There's a vendor in Shibuya that sells unique accessories at Y24,000 each when you get level2 Charm. These items buff you when you start in battle and one of the best buys in the game.
I'm about 20 hours in and Morgana is annoying as hell. I love the game but I hate the railroading. Sorry, I want to craft a lockpick, stop forcing me to go to bed early.
You know what's a really good tip? Have a persona that matches the arcana of the Confidant you wanna level up. You don't need to change to that persona, you just need it with you. Having a matching Arcana will boost your leveling with that Confidant.
Fant From what I can remember with Persona 3 and 4 the Persona does have to be equipped. Maybe not with this game as I have not played this game yet due to exams so I don't know
+Igor Mitrovic , for when you do play it, it doesn't. The game will let you know that you can grow closer with someone due to having a persona with a matching arcana. IE I NEVER used Leanan Sidhe for anything but it still mentioned growing closer with Ann when I hung out with her because she was on my persona roster.
The only tip I would offer for first time players, even veterans like myself, is don't try to max everything out during the very first play through. ENJOY the story line, get it as you, learn the game. The second time you can finish it cause those stats you worked on, carry over. as do Items, monies and armors and stuff.

@@tomcruise7481 Not a mistake at all. Not all of us like playing second or more playthroughs for video games. It's perfectly fine to max everything out on the first playthrough, especially because Persona gives you so much time to do so & it's very doable.
Max out Kawakami's social link as soon as possible. She gives you so much extra time since she can make coffee, curry, do your laundry and if she's maxed out, allows you to spend the evening doing something else apart from sleeping if you went into a dungeon or Mementos. Others to prioritise are Mishima for EXP bonuses, Takemi for potent medicine and HP/SP regenerating accessories and Hifumi for advanced battle tactics like escaping even when ambushed or allowing you to swap party members mid battle.
Gamespot got some info wrong. Getting a holdup is not done by weakening shadows. Instead you have to knock down every opponent, which is done by hitting their weakness or getting a critical hit. Weakening enemies can cause them to surrender, but is not a holdup.
Here my tips: Make sure you buy stuff from Sunday TV selling show. They offer a lot of good items. Buy SP from drink machines. SP items are sometimes hard to get from this game. Press R1 to help you find out quicky if you have an element that an enemy is weak against. Make sure you know your persona weakness. It you can, cover that persona weakness. Put your whole party under direct commands. Go into Mementos when you can. Mementos has a lot of stuff that you can't find at shops. Keep crafting lock picks. If you keep do it, you have a good chance in getting the ultimate lock pick. This lock pick won't break. Lastly, make sure you manage your money.
prioritize kawakami every Friday and Saturday night you can and any other time she texts you. at Max she gains a perk that lets you go back out and do something else even if you want to palace or momentos that day. this is essential for getting more time.
it's a better tip to do the palaces in one day ... beginning to finding the treasure as you'll only use one day. get the so restore accessories from takemi and you can do it one sitting. this is essential to maximizing a single playthrough
don't neglect charm and kindness early. makoto can only go past rank five with level 4 charm and futaba can only go past level 2 iirc with level 4 kindness. get kindness from books, movies or working at the flower shop. it's the hardest stat to raise and don't forget to feed your plant every 16 days it's free kindness. get the fortune teller to rank 3 or 4 asap...she provides more boosts to stats as well as money. I always have half a mil easy and money is hard to come early.
lucy k Hifumi is great for that because she allows you to switch with any party member not just joker, plus she gives you the ability to escape even while surrounded
-This is the most important tip in the game. Get Kawakami max asap, so you can go out at night even after traversing the metaverse with her massage, helping you out of your exhaustion. Kawakami can make you coffee, curry, do the laundry and craft tools for you at night. If you have her confidant maxed, then all those things will be free of charge. She'll let you slack off in her class. In later levels of her confidant, she'll even help you slack in your other classes to either sleep, make tools, read a book or study. This is so you can do other stuff and make your time productive. Her confidant is one of the best, I swear lol! -For Social attributes, get the book for the movie to get more points when you choose to watch one after visiting the theather once. Buy the plant nutrients for your little plant in your room to level up your Kindness. You can do this once a week, and it doesn't take up your time. Buy the drink at the Underground Walkway to get random stats increase on Sunday. Have a book with you at all times. Some of them have social stats increased after finishing them, not only that but it is better that you have something to read on the train when you manage to get a seat. Go to the bath house on Monday or Thursday to get more points for Charm to take medicinal baths. On raiday days, will be the same so take baths on those days as well. Go to Big Bang Burger to boost your Courage up and take on the challenge even if you didn't manage to finish it. You don't to go to Takemi's medical trials just to boost your Courage. If you do, it will boost all of your social stats once. An extra, on rainy days during your playthrough in ng+, buy the moist protein and go to the gym to strengthen your MC's HP and SP. And in ng+, you'll get at least less than a month of free time to level up all your confidants with all your social stats maxed. -Get Toranosuke asap for a better shadow negotiation and even better without negotiation with the shdows to get them on your team. Also, at least get Takemi to 7 to get discounts and get SP/HP restorative items to help you easier when dungeon crawling. Mishima's confidant is awesome as well for a better exp distribution to all your teammates if you manage to max him. They get the same exp, same as the MC. Use Chihaya's confidant when you get to 7. It is a great way to level up other confidants fast. In the early levels of her confidant, you can use her confidant to level up your social stats fast, you should do them on the same day when you choose to boost one of your stats. Get fortune for money before going to palaces or mementos for a better in game money. Togo's confidant max is good as well if you plan changing team members without having to wait for Joker's turn, you can do that with her confidant maxed. One last thing, Futaba's confidant is the best out of all the Phantom thieves' confidant and the best navi I've seen in persona series. -This is the last tip: try to finish the palaces in one day. This will give you more time to max other stuff than having to go there twice or thrice. For mementos requests, try to do them at once at the end of the month. Minimum days of going there is once and max would be twice in a month.
Between the first and second Palaces, I discovered that holding a persona that matches the arcana of confidants you spend time with will give you a bonus point(blue music note) towards your rank for each positive dialogue choice up to a cap of three. The game doesn't exactly tell you this outside of listing any matching personas you have just before spending time with a particular confidant.
Here's a tip, buffs and debuffs make or break the tough fights in this game. Dont go thinking hitting something over and over is more efficient than lowering its defense first, and surprisingly, the suku (agility) modifiers are pretty useful. Also, if a persona learns Debilitate, you're basically set.
It's really hard not to spoil this game. Even simple ones like describing a social link robs the exp of finding out that person is a social link/confidant.
The games explains to you that you stay in town for one year, yet the game ends by the end of december, so keep that in mind. Yes, technically you stay for one year, however gameplaywise there's almost nothing to do once christmas hits. I missed out on maxing a lot of level 8/9 confidants because of this negligence.
1 thing I wish I knew before playing this game was to quickly finish a dungeon to you can relax on the rest of the days before the deadline. I assumed that if I beat the dungeon it would go to the deadline day right away.

When you decide what fusion you want to do, look at what kind of skills it's going to learn. When you get to the menu that shows you what persona you're going to get, it also shows you what stats (highlighted with gold numbers) are going to raise with any EXP boost it gets. Every time you exit out of this menu and come back, those stat bonuses can change. Try to get it to highlight only the skills you want. A persona that only casts magic skills doesn't need to bother with ST and vice versa.
As a Persona newbie. I can honestly say that I already found out about all of this information the hard way, by doing everything myself. Except going over the deadline and being arrested because I'm not, you know, a fucking idiot...
Well, yes. But even if that wasn't there, the game doesn't really stop reminding you about the deadline, either. Day one: "We still got plenty of time, so there's no need to worry. What do you wanna do, Joker?" Day two: "Only 25 days left...but we've still got time. Do you want to hold a meeting?" Day three: "You wanna go FISHING??? You fuc...OK, OK, it's all right. But remember the clock..." Day four: "Hey, I'm watching people at the mall. Do you wanna watch them with me?" Day five: "You WATCHED PEOPLE? For fuck's sake! Time is TICKING!!!!" Day six: "I appreciate you want to be prepared, but the cops won't wait to arrest you." Day seven: "I'm not saying you've wasted a week, but if you waste any more time, I'll waste you!" The problem I have with the game is that, if you leave the palace for late in the month, everyone will drive you mad by constantly putting pressure on you. But if you finish it on day one, the game crawls to a halt because you've got an entire month of only raising your stats, or whatever. And as soon as the story stops, the game becomes a bit tedious to say the least.
I was mainly just agreeing with you. There's 0 reason to miss a deadline aside from just being airheaded and forgetting and ignoring all the warnings. Me personally I'm on NG+ right now and am gonna finish palaces immediately and just work on social links. :v Or the opposite and social link grind until the last few days.
Your confidant progress DOESN'T carry over unfortunately. If you max out their social link in playthrough 1, and you make sure to say goodbye to them, they give you an item that gives you their max rank ability. It doesn't work on your fellow thieves because of the story and their max reward being their second awakening, but you get stuff like Mishima's full xp to backup ability and stuff. Also if you romanced someone and spent christmas eve with them, you get an item that significantly speeds up your link with them if you have a persona of that arcana.
Aww, shit! I guess I'd better raise all my own stats, then, because the second playthrough is going to be all about maxing out every character in the game. For the trophy...
its dee-ah, also, its better to take on a palace in one day rather than spread it out. here's a tip, buy soda's from vending machines, and focus on takemi's confidant to the point where everything its half priced, but you don't have to do so until after you secured a route to the treasure in the second palace, which is the day where you want to think of the calling card
I like to send the calling a week after finding the treasure, that way if I need to go back from the boss fight, I don’t need to redo any palace stuff, I can focus on buying things I didn’t originally think I would need for the boss
When you power up a persona by sacrificing another, keep note of the stats highlighted in yellow. Its random. You can cancel/confirm it repeatedly to manipulate what stats your persona get per lvl. So you shouldnt let your magic ones get high str, etc.
Title should be 8 things people new to Persona should know before playing. or JRPG's in general in some cases. Also yeah people can cast Dio but that also uses Sp so buying healing items isn't that bad especially since completing a palace in a single run is always the best thing to do to get extra days.
pro tip, after playing on hard: beat the dungeons in one day. if it was possible in persona 4, you can do it here as well. just advance the death social link.

It's not 100% random, The other person used a reagent which either fuse into a persona higher or lower on the same acana as the persona it's fused with. That's the only way to fuse into those low lv personas.
what I wish I knew starting was if u hit them with with a spell that they are weak and trigger 1 more always switch to another mob so u can run in and catch you pokemon...I mean persona

If you want useful tips for things you should know before playing Persona, don't bother watching the video, everything mentioned in it is pretty much told to you in the game anyway, but read people's comments for some useful tips.
I always reach the treasure the same day go into a place unless the game forces me to come back the next day. Why drag it out?! then you send the calling card and get it over with then you have like two weeks of free time. The only time when the game didn't allow me to do this was casino stage. They made me wait til the day before the deadline but I still had two weeks of free time to prepare.

Allways have an unread book. You only get a bost to guts when studying if you do it in the library. If you want to get a hold up use attacks that the enemies are weak to. This video seems random and uninspired, an in part is incorrect.

Make sure you get the items that requires a lock pick to open. The reason why is because when you beat the palace boss, you can go back to that dungeon.
I really like this game, but I just don't understand the day process. Sometimes I do something and have to go right to bed and then it jumps to right AFTER school! I don't get it! They tell me to take my time, but no one in the game tells me how much time things actually take
Are you referring to the "Take your time" on the load screen? Don't listen to that. You're under constant deadlines. Besides, I'm fairly sure it's not actually telling you to take your time, it's a play on the Phantom Thieves motto "Take your heart." In other words, the loading screen is literally taking your time.

A team meeting should not make you so tired that you can't watch a DVD. >:( The best thing to do to maximize your time is to get palaces done early and in as few trips as possible. Then you have all the days left until the deadline to spend as you please.

And in ng+, you'll get at least less than a month of free time to level up all your confidants with all your social stats maxed.
-Get Toranosuke asap for a better shadow negotiation and even better without negotiation with the shdows to get them on your team. Also, at least get Takemi to 7 to get discounts and get SP/HP restorative items to help you easier when dungeon crawling. Mishima's confidant is awesome as well for a better exp distribution to all your teammates if you manage to max him. They get the same exp, same as the MC. Use Chihaya's confidant when you get to 7. It is a great way to level up other confidants fast. In the early levels of her confidant, you can use her confidant to level up your social stats fast, you should do them on the same day when you choose to boost one of your stats. Get fortune for money before going to palaces or mementos for a better in game money. Togo's confidant max is good as well if you plan changing team members without having to wait for Joker's turn, you can do that with her confidant maxed. One last thing, Futaba's confidant is the best out of all the Phantom thieves' confidant and the best navi I've seen in persona series.
-This is the last tip: try to finish the palaces in one day. This will give you more time to max other stuff than having to go there twice or thrice. For mementos requests, try to do them at once at the end of the month. Minimum days of going there is once and max would be twice in a month.
Between the first and second Palaces, I discovered that holding a persona that matches the arcana of confidants you spend time with will give you a bonus point(blue music note) towards your rank for each positive dialogue choice up to a cap of three. The game doesn't exactly tell you this outside of listing any matching personas you have just before spending time with a particular confidant.
No 1 tip. Level death confidant to level 7 (doctor) and buy 3 or 4 Sp adhesives 3. You will never run out of SP again
Max out the teacher ASAP so that you can get the massage that allows you to do activities after a dungeon/Mementos.
Here's a tip, buffs and debuffs make or break the tough fights in this game. Dont go thinking hitting something over and over is more efficient than lowering its defense first, and surprisingly, the suku (agility) modifiers are pretty useful. Also, if a persona learns Debilitate, you're basically set.

It's really hard not to spoil this game. Even simple ones like describing a social link robs the exp of finding out that person is a social link/confidant.
Tip missing: Negotiate with the most Personas as possible before the Fusion tutorial unless you want Arsene to break your heart.

The games explains to you that you stay in town for one year, yet the game ends by the end of december, so keep that in mind. Yes, technically you stay for one year, however gameplaywise there's almost nothing to do once christmas hits. I missed out on maxing a lot of level 8/9 confidants because of this negligence.
Having an offense healer in your party works wonders for battle
1 thing I wish I knew before playing this game was to quickly finish a dungeon to you can relax on the rest of the days before the deadline. I assumed that if I beat the dungeon it would go to the deadline day right away.

Maximise Takemi Confidant first, get the SP Adhensive 3 and rest of the exploring in Palaces and Mementos will be a breeze
When you decide what fusion you want to do, look at what kind of skills it's going to learn. When you get to the menu that shows you what persona you're going to get, it also shows you what stats (highlighted with gold numbers) are going to raise with any EXP boost it gets. Every time you exit out of this menu and come back, those stat bonuses can change. Try to get it to highlight only the skills you want. A persona that only casts magic skills doesn't need to bother with ST and vice versa.

Weapons do not increase the power of physical Persona skills, only basically attacks and AoAs

Day two: "Only 25 days left...but we've still got time. Do you want to hold a meeting?"
Day three: "You wanna go FISHING??? You fuc...OK, OK, it's all right. But remember the clock..."
Day four: "Hey, I'm watching people at the mall. Do you wanna watch them with me?"
Day five: "You WATCHED PEOPLE? For fuck's sake! Time is TICKING!!!!"
Day six: "I appreciate you want to be prepared, but the cops won't wait to arrest you."
Day seven: "I'm not saying you've wasted a week, but if you waste any more time, I'll waste you!"
The problem I have with the game is that, if you leave the palace for late in the month,
everyone will drive you mad by constantly putting pressure on you.
But if you finish it on day one, the game crawls to a halt because you've got an entire month
of only raising your stats, or whatever. And as soon as the story stops, the game becomes
a bit tedious to say the least.
I was mainly just agreeing with you. There's 0 reason to miss a deadline aside from just being airheaded and forgetting and ignoring all the warnings.
Me personally I'm on NG+ right now and am gonna finish palaces immediately and just work on social links. :v Or the opposite and social link grind until the last few days.
Your confidant progress DOESN'T carry over unfortunately. If you max out their social link in playthrough 1, and you make sure to say goodbye to them, they give you an item that gives you their max rank ability. It doesn't work on your fellow thieves because of the story and their max reward being their second awakening, but you get stuff like Mishima's full xp to backup ability and stuff. Also if you romanced someone and spent christmas eve with them, you get an item that significantly speeds up your link with them if you have a persona of that arcana.

its dee-ah, also, its better to take on a palace in one day rather than spread it out. here's a tip, buy soda's from vending machines, and focus on takemi's confidant to the point where everything its half priced, but you don't have to do so until after you secured a route to the treasure in the second palace, which is the day where you want to think of the calling card
I like to send the calling a week after finding the treasure, that way if I need to go back from the boss fight, I don’t need to redo any palace stuff, I can focus on buying things I didn’t originally think I would need for the boss

When you power up a persona by sacrificing another, keep note of the stats highlighted in yellow. Its random. You can cancel/confirm it repeatedly to manipulate what stats your persona get per lvl. So you shouldnt let your magic ones get high str, etc.
Title should be 8 things people new to Persona should know before playing. or JRPG's in general in some cases. Also yeah people can cast Dio but that also uses Sp so buying healing items isn't that bad especially since completing a palace in a single run is always the best thing to do to get extra days.

It's not 100% random, The other person used a reagent which either fuse into a persona higher or lower on the same acana as the persona it's fused with. That's the only way to fuse into those low lv personas.

I always reach the treasure the same day go into a place unless the game forces me to come back the next day. Why drag it out?! then you send the calling card and get it over with then you have like two weeks of free time. The only time when the game didn't allow me to do this was casino stage. They made me wait til the day before the deadline but I still had two weeks of free time to prepare.

I really like this game, but I just don't understand the day process. Sometimes I do something and have to go right to bed and then it jumps to right AFTER school! I don't get it! They tell me to take my time, but no one in the game tells me how much time things actually take
Are you referring to the "Take your time" on the load screen? Don't listen to that. You're under constant deadlines.
Besides, I'm fairly sure it's not actually telling you to take your time, it's a play on the Phantom Thieves motto "Take your heart." In other words, the loading screen is literally taking your time.

The best thing to do to maximize your time is to get palaces done early and in as few trips as possible. Then you have all the days left until the deadline to spend as you please.
