When Lane died, Jerry Cantrell should've assumed lead vocals. He's got a great voice and harmonized with Lane perfectly. Talk about a missed opportunity.
Sorry, I was rushed while making my original post. What I meant to say, is that in the later years, while Lane was clearly deep down in his death spiral, Jerry carried the band. The best example is AIC Unplugged. Jerry sang the majority of the songs while Lane tried to remember the lyrics while staying awake. What I'm trying to say, is that they didn't need to seek out a new front man, they simply needed Jerry to take a step forward and accept the promotion. The fans would've accepted it wholeheartedly. At least I would've.
