24 years ago I bought a Lowe's storage building about the same size of your building. I installed it on bricks and left the top off. I still have the building. It was great for keeping from seeing street lights etc. It sure worked good. But of course yours is much better. But Mine got the job done. 🙂
I managed to get a somewhat muted picture of Andromeda last night before the mosquitos drove me back, unfortunately the light pollution around Bowling Green is a but much so it's a little washed out.
Any particular reason for the orientation of the building (doorway facing North)? I would have oriented the area the roof rolls to as North, mainly because I don't go "below" Polaris in that direction, most of my good sky is from E to WSW. I wish I'd built something like this many years ago. Too old to start now, and light pollution has reduced what I can see where I am now.
Light pollution is getting us all! And we're never too old! I'm 62!!! As for the orientation, I have ridge with a line of tall trees directly to the west. It is my most occluded direction, so it made sense to have the roof roll in that direction. The roof has the least amount of interference in that direction for me.
Very nice little build! i'm hoping to put my pier in this year once the ground thaws. that will be likely my start the rest may have to wait a year ish. i'll be happy to have that as a start! well done!
@@bluegrassastro Thank you! Certainly looking forward to it being done. I've left my rig out for months before covered. Not having to polar aligning every time, simply go out and power on, come back in and set the playlist and target for the night really is the best way.
About 24 years ago I bought a Lowes storage building that you put together. I put down bricks and set it on top of the bricks and left the roof off. It was a great place to view with my telescope and not have lights messing up my views. I still have it.
Building a small observatory is not much different than a garden shed except for one major difference. The method used to make the roof a roll-off. This is a nice video but would have been totally complete if you had included the roll-off mechanism.

Мечты сбываются!
Absolutely!
I really want to build a small observatory for astrophotography in my front field. this looks awesome.
I've had it a little over a year. It is a true game changer. Well worth the effort and expense.

I have another video that shows the mechanism and upgrade. If you have questions, let me know. ua-cam.com/video/YeHWzAaH4Dc/v-deo.html
What did you use for the corner trim?
It is red cedar.
