Only thing I can think of is that sequence against Sisqui, using the projectiles and the double gyro toss to carry Sisqui off the stage to end the game
Props to the production team, you don't get enough credit but these videos are 🔥 Props to everyone really, great video! Love the "gyro zone" explanation.
I really do think Anathema's gyro usage is the BEST among Rob Players including Zomba. I just finished watching the match and it looked like Anathema used Gyro more. It was like I was watching a peach player playing Rob. It was crazy!
don't underestimate anathema as a player. he has always been a very technical rob. It is unbelievably hard to be both a technical AND a top competitive player
As hype as Anathema’s technical play is, I have a bad aftertaste in my mouth. If the ROB meta becomes such that all ROBs learn and consistently perform the 0-deaths and extended/creative gyro combo’s fighting him might just start to feel like fighting Steve or Luigi in the sense that any neutral loss could mean your stock. Not sure about this, but I’m a little concerned about the prospect that ROB is very suboptimized yet so successful
Rob is NOT suboptimized lol. Players like Lucretio discovered a lot of mind blowing tech as early as 3 years ago lol. The most technical Rob stuff has always been too hard to pull off at tournaments. even after 3 years, the most successful ROBs don't even make use of it. But not anathema. Anathema has always been so damn technical. It's the fact that he's growing as a competitor and becoming better and better as a player that really makes such a run possible.
Also remember that, in order to pull off the 0 to deaths you're speaking of, the opponent HAS to let go of their shield. In other words, if you respect gyronair when ROB has gyro in hand, you CAN'T get comboed. It's as simple as that. That's one of the reasons why Lucretio, despite being one of the most if not THE most technical rob in the world, is not considered a top player in Ultimate.
Last but not least, ROB plays neutral, while Steve plays another game completely. ROB HAS to play disadvantage, while steve has many tricks to escape uncomfortable situations almost for free. Steve has literally thousands of setups and almost infinite combinations with tnt, blocks, minecart, anvil, etc While gyro is always the same move. Using it creatively is very very hard, and competing against it is much easier as the surprises aren't nearly as many. Steve and ROB are not comparable by any means. But if you wanna consider rob as the best non-dlc character, I'm seeing that.
@@microdemon I didn’t want to discus Steve here. Obviously he’s a case of his own, but I merely mentioned him (and Luigi, who may be a more comparable character to mention) because of the volatility of neutral they all create. And no, ROB is not optimized. You explained why pretty well yourself. Optimal ROB combos exist, and the highest ranking ROB players haven’t been doing them because they’re too difficult so far. The ROBs’ opponents haven’t been losing random stocks to random 0-deaths as frequently as they possibly could, hence the character is suboptimized in practice. But as time goes on, the skill of players inevitably grows and players of characters with higher skill ceilings will begin to utilize more and more of their difficult or rare tech. ROB is already a fundamentally good character. He controls neutral really well, he has a great punish game with basic combos, he can recover from and chase others anywhere. His one weakness is that he can be easy to combo and he’s not the best at landing. My question is, what happens to that simple character when the ROB players stop ending their combos early? Obviously the combo starters are more specialized than Steve but that just makes him a better Luigi, who also starts every combo with grab or zair.
was an absolute pleasure being able to write this one, ty for letting me take this on! offered the best analysis i could
i really enjoyed the analisys :)
more from dara!
I love the analysis of how gameplans change matchup to matchup it was honestly super interesting
Great work fr!
Really impressive analysis Dara
4:52 props to the editor for the censorship joke on onin's stone "sculpture "
Only thing I can think of is that sequence against Sisqui, using the projectiles and the double gyro toss to carry Sisqui off the stage to end the game
So good
Also the grenade-assist combo against ApolloKage.
The slow mo analysis is actually really cool
Glad Anathema is making ROB exciting to watch and putting himself up there with names like Zomba 👏
Props to the production team, you don't get enough credit but these videos are 🔥
Props to everyone really, great video! Love the "gyro zone" explanation.
the edits in this one were God tier
alternate name: no one knows how to let it rip like anathema 😎
ROB is proto-Steve. Good at brawling, zoning and grappling, near limitless recovery options, resource management, and he shoots out a tiny mine cart.
Imagine Rob with good grab range and a spammablr projectile
@@greedo194 would be contender for best character in the game
the projectile ain't a grab box tho 😂
You guys are doing such a great job with these after tournament video!!! :)))
I don't know why, but the bullet time during the play-by-play analysis is really doing it for me.
That string against Sisqui was God tier.
Love the slow mo analysis. Please do this more
4:53 LOL who censored it like that? someone reads some spicy stuff.
I'm liking these slo-mo's
One of the best written videos so far!
interpolation makes animation look scuffed most of the time but it makes these slo mos look very cinematic
Original Title: Nobody uses Gyro Like Anathema
Y’all made the Rob jpg big hahahahaha this channel is so good 💙
This was just flat out a great video
Gyrozone is already a term for when you d tilt someone between the gyro and you. But I like this better
I think they named it like that on purpose. It's very likely a reference

Some players proved ROB was a top tier.
Anathema made ROB FEEL like a top tier.
I've been so disappointed in Zomba lately and I am so glad there is a new top Rob that really shows the characters potential
1:56 sound effect?
i really hope they actually give anathema a two-way ticket. even if he wins, he'll probably want to go back home after summit.
Hoping we get a video on shirayuki’s performance in maesuma
How about Sisoui the French Samus Main.
average pgstats w 🔥
R.O.B.is big
THE SISQUI 6 PIECE
I’ve always thought anathema was the better rob
Zomba plays rob like a pea brain
the results don't support that.
Zomba has better neutral. He just doesn't have the crazy gyro combos as consistent because he (and most rob players) don't practice.
@@davidc. tru lmao
And keep up the “rob is big” narrative
He's good but he is big. Prob low tier but glad to see a less used character break out. Don't think this makes him mid tier yet
Great showing but we all know Mkleo is the best Rob Main 😈
the sad thing is his rob has the best win this season 😭
If leo learns rob 0 deaths this game is screwed lmao
@@greedo194 he already did lol
Also important to mention, Aegis is a notoriously bad matchup for R.O.B.
we finally have someone other than lucretio showing that rob combos are broken and easy rob players just dont feel like doing it
don't underestimate anathema as a player. he has always been a very technical rob. It is unbelievably hard to be both a technical AND a top competitive player
@@microdemon this was the first tournament where he was able to truly prove himself
can't you call sisqui's character "dark samus"?? is its real name you know
Who cares
