They would have checked the inside anyway, the officers usually inspect the inside when truckers go through certain check stations and port entrances. If you get pulled in for a check, they are going to most likely do a quick glance at least.

First off people it wasn’t an illegal search. He can search the truck in a commercial inspection. Second he had permission from the driver to search. Third, the troops are trained in interdiction. And the dude sent up the biggest red flag ever when he was asked if he was alone. His body movement, facial movement and expression, and his delay of the answer all indicated that there were people in the cab. That led to the asking to look, which was granted. Highly doubt this was from a tip or anyone snitched. You would be surprised what is found in normal day to day contacts. If it was from a tip, it would not have been in a truck stop, with other trucks getting inspected. It would have been stopped roadside, away from other people and the troopers would of had all been focused on that one truck. Not engaged with other drivers. Dude got caught fair and square. I have taken multiple interdiction classes. There was a lot to this contact that was not shown, but I guarantee you the answers he was providing, were not already matching up with his logs, or his body language. Nervous or not, it wouldn’t have played into it.
