I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS! I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS! I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS! LOL! LOVED THIS MOVIE EVER SINCE I SAW IT IN THE THEATER IN 1975. PAULA PRENTISS AND KATHERINE ROSS MADE A GREAT TEAM!
For those who read the book before seeing the movie, many thought that this would be the climactic scene in which the Bobbie android kills Joanna by order of the men. (Of course, in the movie, this does not happen). But the look on Bobbie's face after Joanna plunges the knife into her makes it look as if she is going to kill her!
The bit at 0'58" ("Yes, Yes, This, It's Wonderful") will be familiar to anyone who remembers the UK dance band S'Express's 1989 hit "Hey Music Lover"...
Wow, are you serious? I'll have to check that out. Yes, this scene is indeed scary. :-( It kills my spirit to see men doing this to women. Killing who they are - their real thoughts, their real feelings, the essence of who they are - just because they want women to obey, serve, cater to them & not voice their opinions. Relationships take work & men need to spend & take time listening & communicating with women & being there for them. You can't expect a gal to say a guy is amazing (cont.)
Stab her/it in the stomach? Chest? Throat? My point is that the Bobbibot goes haywire when stabbed there. Wouldn't you think the logic circuits would be more toward the head?
Oh. Well I don't think she went haywire because her CPU was physically damaged. I think her program just didn't know what to do with such an extreme scenario.
This scene makes me really sad. :-( I've seen this movie many years ago. But yeah, I'm going to be having nightmares when I go to sleep tonight. Yes, I agree with the comment from OurGangFan -- this SHOULD be on Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments. Why in the HECK would any man want a woman to be subserviant, submissive, robotic-like this? It's insane. And it's so ARCHAIC!
I saw this on TV as a little girl with my mom and her friend. For years after that, my mom's friend, whenever she made coffee, would start teasing us, "When I was just going to give you coffee! I thought we were friends!" ROFL!
all the time when he's not there. And then guy expects all good things even though he hasn't been there for the woman many times. To me, this movie is scary because it's guy's expectations of what they want from women without having to work on things to earn & achieve love, attention, etc. It's seeing women as tools & means to please them without really earning it. Anyways, thanks for the information, DrGregoryHouse. Have a nice weekend. :-)
Yes! I only watched Stepford Wives maybe a year ago for first time and just about fell out of my chair when I heard it. Great sample, and still have that track on 12" vinyl.
Don't understand why she stabbed her. She was just going to give her coffee.
+goback3spaces Oh no! They've gotten to you too!!
+goback3spaces She´s fucking scared of her and starts to lose her mind :)
just to reassure herself .
And it was a new blend and everything. Very mild.
Oh I’d love some coffee, Is this a new blend. Wonderful.
One of the most effective scenes in a horror movie, without all of the blood & special effects! This is good film making!
I'll just die if I don't get this recipe!

"It's Wonderful!" Never knew, til now, where S'EXPRESS got the sample from for "Hey, Music Lover."

Interesting that this model would have its logic circuits near the uterus. Gives a good window into the builders' view of women and their worth...
I love this film but, yeah, I always wondered why she stabbed her so low down instead of in the back or something.
She was facing her. Was she going to turn her around or something?

Because we want them to serve us. I am glad the men won.

Superman: "..."
Batman: "You WILL!"

This scene rocks. Paula Prentiss and Katherine Ross are awesome.
My favorite scene in the Stepford wives. Thanks for posting.
The music and the great acting is what makes this scene so memorable for me.

She stabbed robot lady because she was going to give her decaf. Lo! Love the movie, by the way. Such a sad and hopeless ending.
Karl Lieck stupid, there was no decaf back then

Oh, dear .............
WY look at you! Paula is a beautiful woman. She isnt on the word list today.
Well, she IS a robot...
In the early 70’s I once ate Paula for three days. It took a week for them to pop the top of my head back out.
You know that she has to vacuum with a Roomba
Do the Stepford Wives really represent what men want in a woman? I am curious about the male perspective.
What mysoginist want...
I thought it was in there...
Yes, Ann Rmoney does look so "lifelike" in her act at the repuke convention!!!
Even more so than when she did this part...
