Good video some how came across it on here. Reminds me of the times I used to drive these buses on route 88 SW garage, such heavy buses but also very unreliable. Some of them constantly ran in diesel mode, but once you had a good one and a nice night time stretch these LTs could go quick! Anyways I've left bus driving now but stay safe out there

I was down fulwell for training just before xmas, went on the 267 for the first time to twickenham
I remember using this stand to go across the rd in the mornings to get fruit and drink after leaving Camberwell during training lol

lol, actually no. I had one error during my first test, it was a hill climb and bus the bus on neutral, you know the rest. but that was the only mistake and smashed it the 2nd time. You have to pass because if you don't your out of the door, it had to be done

Do you ever drive the N9? We'll be, God willing, traveling to London in August and if the Tube is on strike when we land, we'll have to take the N9 and I'd LOVE TO see a POV of the route to get a feel for it.
N9 isn't part of my company but safe trip coming over here

Well, I can't comment on that but I think you should go through your rule book. If it doesn't mention anything about it then go ahead. Go Ahead is more strict compared to Stagecoach. GL

Hours of driving in complete silence sounds like a recipe for switching off, especially with the inconsistent shift patterns that mean you may not be fully awake.
I see what you mean but it is what it is. I usually blank my thoughts, sing in my head or even watch a movie for real in my thoughts but we get there at the end.

I am just joining Go Ahead a trainee i wanted to ask how you learn the routes or do you just take one route and learn it and that’s what your assigned to do?
Hi, when you resume at your garage you will be giving a mentor, your mentor will teach you most routes available at your garage. It's important to choose a route of your choice and request you go on rota, there is a waiting list. With time when your settled you could learn more routes at different garages, this will help with overtime

@@doguspolat1103 tell you a cheat a driver once helped me with and I haven’t looked back since.
Type in UA-cam “route visual” before any route number you wana learn, and there will always be a vid of some bus enthusiast that filmed it, this for me saves time having to physically go on the route you need to learn, plus they still pay you for that day of training anyway, so just go home.

How do bus drivers know where to go?, especially the ones doing long routes? Do u have a map or something?
We are not giving a map. To route learn you need to board a service bus to learn the route and also curtailments from the driver.

I envi you London bus drivers. You may have worse conditions but... not having to deal with passengers is 50% of the work. You don't need to worry about taking money or people thinking its a social club and wanting to chat to you every 5 minutes. (You also drive hella better buses as well) I drive buses up North

@@nanaSinfo Crap at the moment, our buses are being ran into the ground with no sign of improvement. It's generally a lot quieter as I'm not in a major city like London, but because the buses run a lot less frequently, people can become very shitty when you're late, regardless of why. We also get lots of passengers who will try anything to get on for free, or they'll pay but not the correct amount. Our rules are a lot different as well, we have to wait until passengers are sat down before moving off, no one can stand upstairs at all and its easier than ever to complain as the CS number is on the side of all buses. So for every compliment you get, you have 30 complaints.
On the plus side, hour long traffic jams are rare, unless there's an accident. And its very rare to be attacked, though it's not unheard of, it does happen. We also don't get many tourists like you do, if we do get some, they kinda know what they're doing... *kind of*,
Still I digress, I'd love to try a few weeks in london as a bus driver

Ok, imagine this, 4.30 am and your bus is packed and all you can hear for 30 minutes is a homeless woman insulting you and telling you to take her to somewhere that is not on your route. Calling all sort of names and your in a packed bus and there is absolutely nothing you can do because if you stop that bus when people are hustling to get to their job, all hell will break loose. Calm is the germ
