Babyshambles and Parlophone are thrilled to announce that the third Babyshambles album Sequel To The Prequel will be released on September 2nd. Preceded by a first single Nothing Comes To Nothing -- due for release on August 26th -- the album was recorded at Question Du Son, Paris and mixed in The Bunker, London, with producer/mixer and long time Shambles collaborator Stephen Street. Filled with hooks and humour, the album features some of the band's finest ever lyrics ranging from the tender to the downright hilarious. Musically it has already been called their most accomplished and collaborative work to date.

Why are people moaning it's a pop song? Pete's always written pop songs from the Libs, his solo album and on the last two Shambles lp. Behave, he's still banging the goog stuff out.

Well, it´s less 2000´s people, personaly I grew up and spend my youth ( 19-22 y-o ) with this group and Peter Doherty, and the idea we still have of them is not only the music, I guess that it´s also related to good memories, the decadence youth we had with this group... Hey hey people, they grew up too ;) !
They are almost 32, we are getting 23-24-25 ... !

I think we can all agree that the first verse is the most shambles-like part. amazing, the rest still needs to grow on me.

I agree with you, it's entirely different. The violence seems to be gone, and it's replaced with a sort of tired-sounding singalong. But this piece deserves credit, I think. The melody is so classic I couldn't believe it wasn't already a song when I first heard a live version on youtube about a year ago. And the Doherty lyrics are still there. I can still see something in them that gives me a lot of hope for the rest of this album.

At first I found this to be too much of a mainstream pop rock tune to be a Babyshambles song, or really anything Pete has done before. But after the second listen it's hard not to keep hitting the repeat button. He's still a genius and I'm glad to have his music back in my life.

Truth is that Babyshambles have changed with every release they've put out. Down In Albion and Shotter's Nation have such completely different sounds. Down In Albion was such an angry album, like an ode to the rejected lover or betrayed friend, and Shotter's Nation was the calm come-around as the dust from The Libertines finally settled. Sequel To The Prequel seems to continue that narrative; Peter's not so angry anymore and he's not all that sad either. It's the same band, just a new heart.

I saw there first EVER GLASGOW gig in Greenock and jumped a 150+crowd haha, wildest gig ever attended and set the scene haha.....Tour bus was outside and invaded by the troups for about 30mins.....was in the Daily Record the next day!!!! Man who came to stay .....stole the show...along with Man who would be king!!! so good......shame Dot Allison didn't play xylophone though!!!
