I still say the order is not as interesting as your comments on each album. Appreciated your insight from a Money Money disliking Brent tune fan.
Davey, you are the man! I found this channel recently, and it's a revelation! Fucking brilliant! Keep it coming, brother!
Same here. It is now Sunday AM and I ran across the channel when the pedal board video was put in my face by The Algorithm(tm) of UA-cam(tm). Then saw a live stream was going on on Friday. Then saw he had a guitar course and I purchased it as it is perfect for me in this time and place. I'm not a very spiritual person, but I do appreciate the happy coincidence of me discovering this channel right when I needed it the most. Kismet?! But Grateful (pun intended)
I love you sense of humor !❤😅Thanks for the video man !
Gunslinger, minstrel running through the woods kinda thing..... love it!😊
Hey Davy, you crazy! Barefoot guitar master and teacher of Grateful Dead songs.
You have opened another door for me. I have not listened to Grateful Dead records. I use to listen to them live, I was fortunate to go many Dead shows, or live cassette tapes. Now because of you I am going to listen to every album on your list. Then I will get back to you on how you did. I love the Grateful Dead and Jerry was a huge part of that. Peace Out 😊 P.S. love your lessons on UA-cam.
good take! I have an indescribable amount of love for Reckoning. Never thought about ranking them, but that would be top 3, me thinks.
Dude, you had me rolling when your were recalling your DMT trip that was supercharged by The Other One. A trip with that song goes some thing like this - Oh, you know he had to die, die, die ,die ,die, die , die, die, di, di, di, di, di, di, e, e, eeeeeeeeeeeeee......universe breaks open and the sound of OM carrys your former Self through the chrysanthemum veil.
1. Live Dead (nuf said) and then Terrapin Station
Some of those albums I haven't heard in a bit, need to revisit. I agree with you about your top 4 (Terrapin Station is nice and all but it's the title track that stands out most to me from it). I love the bears, though - but my roots are in white trash, so not far off, but still... I love them! Like you, many of the songs and imagery have emotional connections to people, places, and times in my life (especially key moments). I don't have a musicians perspective yet, but I look forward to it!
awesome vid dave! love getting to hear your experience & opinion on the band's work
Saw Bob do Tennessee Jed in Nashville last month. The song is about the Klampitz family of the hit tv show Beverly Hillbillies. You will never see a Tennessee Jed do good in any state other than Tennessee
Met ya at yer fiddle and fish gig. Enjoy your commentary and careful curation and discussion on these. Blues for Allah numero 4? Not bad. Almost numero uno for entire intensity. Im sure that was a tough call. Decided to order the new wake of the flood 50th anniversary LP after you reminded me how bad ass that is. Apparently theres a clip of here comes sunshine that jerry made before sending it off to the band to learn, the sample I heard is incredible.
Thanks a bunch, Davvy !
Dude your so underrated keep at it on youtube cause you have super great quality content and you made me become a bigger dead head ❤️🩵
Man have you heard the 03-28-1990 Hey Pocky Way? That shit is scorchin
I was gonna report you for musical crimes against humanity because of #17-#2, but then I got to #1 & realized you are also a fellow of refined, exquisite taste. For sure the best album. It was already my favorite Dead era, every studio cut is enjoyable, so I've always got the songs playing. & with the exception of one particular track (cue saxophone squawk) everything translated to the live setting perfectly.
Didn’t watch the original. Haven’t watched this upload yet
Honest prediction: mars hotel will be #1
Close but no cigar
Damn I was off by 3. Not bad
Agreed weather report is beyond song writing
Happy 50th!
Aye, seeing where Mars Hotel was ranked was part of the suspense for me :D After seeing it not in the bottom I got more excited.
Brent sucks, but putting Built To Last above in the Dark is wonky. The only good Dead studio album was uhm, uh...ya know...uh..hm.
I have to agree with the Europe 72 take. I personally don’t love it because it’s a compilation and full of overdubs. I get why people like it, and I definitely don’t hate it, but it isn’t nearly as good as just listing to a full Europe 72 show.
Please do a play dead for turn on your love light
Was there an issue? How come an upload occurred?
There were issues with the title cards. Other one is still up, this is just for the people that NEED it correct.
@@TobyDavvyUnderstood 😁
you've clearly opened up a can of 'gummies' here setting off endless debate .. however i would add 2 albums from 1972 .. the garcia and weir solo efforts which have so many of the timeless classics .. and both filled the void of studio material between 'beauty' 1970 & 'wake' 1972 ...
woops make that 'wake' 1973 ...
If you love these albums Davvy why are you rating them and putting them in a negative light. Then apologizing. Makes no sense.
Well, Mikey, making videos is my job and making videos that will possibly get more views or appeal to a wider audience is part of that job. Ranking videos are popular and have the chance to bring new people to the channel that maybe don’t play guitar. So just in essence a ranking video means I have to put them in order from WHAT I THINK is my least favorite to most. I DO love all these albums, but given the format of the video I had to put them in some kind of order. It’s really not a hard concept to understand. From my perspective, I didn’t put any of them in a negative light. And I apologize, one, because it’s funny and two, because obviously people are going to get confused that this is my opinion and get butt hurt that I didn’t put the albums in the order they like. Said all this at the beginning of the video. Sorry if today is one of your off days, homie.
@@TobyDavvy I understand that you are creating content. and to each his own. I believe I could pick the albums I don't particularly like as much but would be hard pressed to rank my favorites; Anyhow cheers brother.
