Fred sure enjoys playing these pipes - Bruce did well to keep a straight face! I'd love to see Ronan Browne and Fred Morrison playing together - that would make anybody smile!
This is so funny to watch! Bless Fred piping like a trooper and trying to get a smile out of Bruce on the banjo! How many winks and smiles can one man fit into 3 1/2 minutes!?
I'm always smiling when I play the whistle or the bodhrán. I totally understand that playing Irish music should be fun and I also smiled when looking at Fred enjoying this tune. Great music :)
Very classy from the master piper - original, versatile and creative in all his work. His solo slow air on the whistle with sax was the highlight of instrumental playing at Celtic Connections(kemper gig).Brilliant composer and one of the worlds best instumentalists
I love the version on his new CD "Outlands' along with all the other great compositions -best piping I have heard -the whole production has a touch of musical genius
Yes he would have been playing chords in second section - check "Uilleann pipes" in Wikipedia for further explanation. Fred Morrison is the "Jimi Hendrix" of the pipes - a true virtuoso performer!
I have really enjoyed these Trans tracks -I just love the relaxed playing style and the musicality.A new CD with some of this material would be an instant hit
That was so good. Fred's got a lovely open piping style, kind of reminds me of Joe Mckenna's playing.

Fred Morrison a mi parecer es el mejor del mundo! Toca con una alegria, se ve q disfruta tocar Uilleann Pipe, y no hay nadie como el, y si me equivoco kiero que me lo prueben!!! 5/5
Good news. Transatlantic Sessions Series 4 starts TV transmission on BBC 2 Scotland (only) on Sunday 13 September 2009 at 22:50 BST (CD and DVD will follow).
Really interesting tracks from his new CD on his MySpace site -crisp,clear and very innovative. If you like this you will appreciate the Outlands material
Fred Morrisan plays the Uilleann pipes too? damn it i hate such talented people. and its not like you can transfer the bagpipes over. they are quite different like.
Oops, deleted my comment on accident. As I was saying, I don't play the highland pipes, so I could be wrong, but I don't think that tune will fit on the GHB. It sounds and looks like he's going from the bottom of the 1st octave all the way up to the top of the second octave. I don't think that's suitable for the range of the scottish pipes.
Fred is an awesome player, and very fast, but has anyone ever noticed that he only seems to have a very small selection of tunes he knows? It seems that I have heard him play the same 7 or 8 for years, and no others.
Believe me Fred can play a lot more than a few tunes. Had the honor of seeing him play at a cèilidh and it was one tune after another for several hours. Yes a few repeats for new players joining. You should have been there!
And (pardon my ignorance) but it sounds like he's ornamenting the tune in the traditional style too?! It sounds as if those pipes were a banjo in a previous life.
I just love seeing the absolute joy he obviously gets from playing, he never stops smiling
Amazing I just love this
Sooooooooooooo fine. My foot won't stop tapping. I love the way Fred is really into the tunes.
Irish pipes!!! So nice
Big Fan of Fred . He always has such a pleasure playing his music . Can' t stop smiling seeing and hearing him . He is simply the best .
Love the first tune especially, the sound Fred gets out of those pipes is so beautiful, I love it!

Nicest pipe work I've heard in a long time. Outstanding! The banjo is a perfect match.

2:34... the eyes of a man about to pipe you into oblivion.
Ahhh... I love pipes and I love banjos. Fantastic collaboration here.

A little down-home pickin', a little of auld country pipin'. Awesome stuff, couldn't help but smile and tap along to the beat.
Absolutely. He will take no prisoners! Brilliant.
Saw Fred Morrison live last year the man's a genius, Bruce Molsky's playing and Fred's really compliment each other on this track.
WOW i cant stop listening to this
some good old time Uilean Pipes! This is truly beautiful!
A great fusion of Scottish and American talent!
These guys look like they're having fun. It's not to understand why they look that way really... lovely stuff.

Wow!!!
I agree. No matter if he plays scottish smallpipes, border pipes or UP - you always recognize him by his style of playing :)
sweet!!!
Does anyone have more fun playing than Fred?;)
Das Isch dr Hammmmmmmer! Little Crow
Fred plays a special version his border pipes ! So this version should fit the the GHB :)
What an unusual duo! Light as a feather. Like to hear more o' that.
Was he chording on the pipes in the B section?
Sounded like the accordion was in.
Boy did this get me through the depressing Obama years. Memories.
the 1st tune is well gd fred is a legend wish a could find the music for the tune
wat kind of pipes r they????
No, this is no special version of borderpipes! :D
He is playing the Irish Uilleann Pipes :)
Great stuff. Where can I buy those fingers?
It would be cool to hear a tenor banjo player play what the piper is playing.
so how much dose the fingering change from ssp to UP and are they difficult to set up and reed
Great ! What is the name of the tune ?
The Kansas City Hornpipe / Jarlath's Tune ? as mentionned above ?
Pablo Pernot yep
This is unreal. Anyone know where I could find GHB notation for the Kansas City Hornpipe?
Is this on any particular album?
anybudy know who is the maker of fred morrisson uilleann pipe ?
it sound great
Fred developed a set with renowned manufacturer McCallum Pipes of Scotland called "Fred Morrison". Could be the end of long waiting lists.
sure
What kind of banjo is Bruce playing?
hey tom, do you have the music to this?
@johnnyhorton2 increased pressure
thanks anyway! i play the smallpipes! even though thos werent smallpipes they are kinda the same!
Don't know why it printed my comment three times, but that's computers for ya.
anyone know who's the banjo picker?
Bruce Molsky
do you think they're acting?
Sorry no - I don't play either instrument but just enjoy listening :)
They UP have double bladed reed
Could be Dave Williams, he was a great maker rip
Fred Morrisan plays the Uilleann pipes too? damn it i hate such talented people. and its not like you can transfer the bagpipes over. they are quite different like.
Seems far too fast compared to the usual renditions on YT,

his pipes look to be made by new york maker seth gallagher

***** it's always great to hear one of the "star" tunes every time you see one of your favourite musicians.
And (pardon my ignorance) but it sounds like he's ornamenting the tune in the traditional style too?! It sounds as if those pipes were a banjo in a previous life.
Pipes were a banjo in their former life - lol - greetings from Austria
Good song, corny video
no, just the guy on the right is making stupid faces. thats all
Im sorry I ever blasphemed Mr. Morrisons name
@@JBrooksNYS Good of you to make amends 12 years later. That's how I feel now too.
