I'm glad I was alone in my dorm room when Bart Starr came out. I bawled like a baby for a solid 15 minutes. Knowing what he went through to get there makes it that much more touching of a moment.
I was a kid not knowing sport's back in 1993 like i was 7. But what i do remember is my dad going nuts in that wild card playoff game. It was that win and throw and td to Sharpe that had my dad talking about the Pack like he never had before. Thank you to those in the offices and ofc Favre for helping keep the Pack in WI and gave much more than that.
Seeing this makes me proud to be a LIFE-LONG Green Bay Packer fan! I started following the Pack way back in 1967 and endured the bad years as well as now enjoying the good years but I will never stop rooting for this team no matter if they fail or succeed. They are the most iconic and greatest football organization in the NFL!
When Aaron Rodgers walks in the room people clap and cheer. When Brett Favre walks in a room people stand, clap, and cheer when Bart Starr walks in the room, people bow. Nuff said .
RIP Bart Starr you are and always will be the heart and soul of Green Bay your love for the game and the city itself was truly amazing thank you for all your compassion and loyalty to the city and team of Title Town. You will be truly missed but never forgotten.
+corymalone85 'I remember the 2009 / 2010 season....... my god, that was fun fun fun, Viking fans were given the best there was back then :) Some good old times.
+Connery Wiecks I heard in a recent interview how Favre hated his time with the Vikings and how piss poor the fans were. Not surprised in the least as nobody likes the Vikings or their sorry ass fans. He said he only went there for the money and could care less about the purple pukeheads of the North.
This is why I am so proud to be a Packers fan. Despite how everything ended for Brett in Green Bay, the fans and the organization have the respect and decency to acknowledge/recognize one of the cornerstones to the Packers organization and brand.
I was living in Green Bay when Favre came to town. The Packers had been a terrible team for most of the years following the Lombardi era. When Favre came in for an injured Magic Man, no one really knew what to expect. Who is this, "Favray" guy? Most of us didn't even know how to say his name correctly. He came in, and things didn't look good, but in the end he threw the game winning pass. The excitement began to grow as he and the Packers just kept getting better. It was Favre that reignited the Packer Nation and helped to bring back the Lombardi trophy to Green Bay. Unless you were there, I mean actually there, as all this unfolded, it's nearly impossible to understand what Brett brought back to the fans of Green Bay. As the years went by both good and bad, it was those years in the mid 90's, that cemented his place in Packer History. He admittedly made a mistake at the end of his career and was going to retire, then not retire. But in the end, who are we to fault someone for their decision to continue to play and continue to make money in his profession. His stats are what they are but as the sold out stadium in July can attest to, those of us who understand, realize that we loved watching that kid from a small town, Kiln Mississippi, play the game he loved with the passion and energy that put Packer Football, back on the map.
He showed flashes from that Cincy game on...never a dull play, it was always dramatic. Threading the needle, rocket balls, overthrows, interceptions, touchdowns, fumble, etc. it was a special time until ‘94, 95, 96, 97...he really came into his own. Holmgren was on him...I wonder if his coaches had stayed firm or “Parcells” - like coach would have kept him at that level of accountability.
He was amazing and definitely is one of the best, as he helped put the Packers back on the map. It is quite unfortunate though he didn’t get more than 1 ring
Thanks for posting. I grew up in Green Bay and obviously a a fan of the Packers.. This is one of the most prolific times in the franchises history. Right after Favre gives Starr a hug, they (NBC) had to cut to commercial breaks. That pissed me off. There's enough advertising already, who gives a shit Toyota has a sale on their cars or Burger King has dollar burgers. Why don't the networks start just advertising every other play in games, ridiculous.

Was at this game. When Bart passed our section on the cart he was screaming and you could tell he was so damn happy. Almost looked like he was crying of happiness. After the ceremony Rodgers was coming out to practice and him and Favre hugged it out that was cool to. But Bart Starrs excitement made that night for me considering we lost to the bears. But god bless you Bart.
Bart Starr was my boyhood hero. A class act all the way. Mr. Packer. To this day, the only NFL quarterback to win 5 NFL titles. (Update, now tied by Brady.)
I started watching the NFL when he came back with the Viks and almost went to the Bowl. You can see he's the reason why I started watching and loving football.
I followed Brett Favre ever sence he became a Packer. My all-time favorite athlete as well as Michael Jordan. Favre was just amazing to watch with how much emotion he applied to the game. Very emotional seeing Bart Starr enter the field and being met with Brett Favre. A very choked-up moment. I really miss the days of passion and love for the game when it was played by the greats. Love you Brett and Packers!
Many guys, including greats like Marino, Montana etc, have played the position - but Favre was one cool customer, no doubt about it, he still is a cool dude..... :) Others may throw for more tds, less interceptions etc etc, but I see noone surpassing his consecutive starts EVER ! That speaks volumes about number 4's heart...... which is all that really matters at the end of the day.

I'll never forget that game he played on the road at the Raiders the day after his dad passed away. I don't think I've ever seen a QB play with as much fire as he did that night. Just was a fun guy to watch, no matter your team allegiance. 10x the charisma that Rodgers will ever have.
Growing up, that game was legendary to hear about. I will say, I don’t mind the way Rodgers runs things either, though.
