Will the HP Needle Plate and Foot work in my machine?

- Janome's High Performance (HP) Needle Plate and HP Foot are designed after those found on industrial sewing machines. The slim profile and integrated foot holder and presser foot means it's super accurate; an ideal choice for that scant 1/4" quilters love.
I often get questions if it'll work various 9mm machines, so I show and explain exactly WHY it should ONLY be used on machines which are compatible; which automatically recognize the needle plate when snapped into the machine.

Technically, the HP Needle Plate and Foot will work on the MC12000, but the machine will not recognize the needle plate, so you will have to remember to manually move your needle over each time. Janome does not recommend using the HP Needle Plate on machines which don't have the recognized firmware to safely identify and use the needle plate. User beware! If you do use it, write yourself a note to remove the needle plate and foot after use before you switch the machine off and on again so you don't break a needle and damage the machine.
Can I use with 8900
Hello, as described in the presentation, only those machines with updated firmware which automatically moves the needle to the left needle position should use the HP Needle Plate. Technically it will fit the MC8900, but it's not advised to use it since you will need to manually move the needle every time and it's so easy to forget which foot and needle plate is on the machine. You would have to remove each before turning the machine off and on again. Janome rather err on the side of caution and recommends not using the HP needle plate and foot for that model.

The M7 has a USB port, is it only to update machine data or is there any other reason for it being there?
the M7 comes with the Stitch Composer software which allows you to create stitches on your computer and can use the USB port to transfer them to the machine. The USB port also allows you to change the Screen Saver photos by transferring your own photos from your computer. Happy Sewing!
