The difference in Europe is that truck drivers are seen as an essential service and regarded as professionals rather than a labourer with a driving license as it is here. The attitude of the police was spot on as well. Over here you'd have been tasered, cuffed and in the nick before you could say "Morning Officer"

I knew the blue lights would be a problem but I didn't think it'll be a problem that quick 😂 You can get RGB beacons with clear lenses, maybe worth a look into lol.
I have a bicycle light that cycles between red and blue flashing, police pulled me over and the person was way less nice than these two agents. He basically yelled at me why i was trying to impersonate police (i wasnt) he took the light from me and fined me 65€, i tried to talk to him but he basically said if you keep talking i will keep adding fines, so i just shut up. Abit crazy if u ask me.. but its the day and age we live in.

If you are polite and not making up excuses and just accept you are wrong and accept your ticket and coorporate then Dutch police are very friendly and most likely you won't get ticketed for evertyhing you actually deserve. if you start with arguing, give then a big mouth or act as a spolied kid, well then you are asking for it and you'll get it.
Here in the Netherlands, the blue flashing light is only for emergency vehicles and is protected by law. Hence, the police in our country do not get very happy when they see a non-emergency vehicle wearing or having blue flashing lights on. However, in some cases you are allowed to use an orange flashing light if you are carrying a non-divisible load or you have a special transport. Orange flashing lights have the meaning that there is a special/dangerous situation. But other than that, a nice video, Tim!

I really don’t understand the blue lights. Truck is coming along beautifully but the blue lights are asking for massive trouble. They’re both illegal and I think they actually tone the roof down. Crystal orange LED beacons look better.

If he hadn’t used them they would’ve not stopped him. Also its smart to have orange tops with you just incase. And these also wern’t “the truck police” in dutch its called ILT they were just “normal” police meaning they just look out for normal illegal things like speeding, reckless driving and then those lights. These will never want to see your tacho etc. Those are what ILT are for.

I often see videos from the USA where people are very defensive towards the police. Not cooperating, insisting their constitutional rights are respected, being unfriendly towards the police, etc. And in most cases I think: 'Don't be so childish, the police officers ask for your ID, so just show it.'. But I realize that I view it from a Dutch perspective. A world where police officers are like these two. To be honest: I don't know any other behaviour of police officers than this behaviour. For years the Dutch police had the slogan: 'The police is your best friend'. And I realize that in other countries, especially the USA, the relationship and interaction between civilians and the police is totally different.
I think your right, its the same in the UK, they should be covered up except when INSIDE a show, its only a matter of time Tim before it happens in UK.

My experience with dutch police is that how you treat them, they will treat you. If you stay polite and friendly and light hearted, then 9 out of 10 times, the officers stay that as well. You might get a ticket still but likely not all the tickets you deserve :)

I wouldn't quite go that far. Using his horn endlessly, blowing smoke on public roads and actually USING blue lights to boot is plain disrespectful and not something I'd want to be associated with as a professional trucker. It is forbidden in the UK to have them turned on, and the same goes for the Netherlands, so there's no excuse for not knowing. I know you mean that he is having fun and all that, but if I was sharing those roads with him as a regular joe, I'd be pissed off as hell. Public roads are no party ground, and professional truckers should be more aware than any other party just how stringent and dangerous the road can be even when everyone behaves. If nothing else, this video makes an excellent example of why having party lights or even blue lights installed 'just for shows and not used on the road' isn't acceptable. Truckers will find a reason to use the buttons once they've got them: it is simple human nature. So IMHO, that cop is right for saying those blue caps aren't even allowed to be installed and enforcing the underwear of shame on the cab. All in all, I think this video actually puts truck show people to shame. But that's just me.

When on convo like to show you should have multi cameras in each cab pos a filmer and use it for everyone’s UA-cam also have cb or radios that can be herd on cam so we u can all talk and hear it all
The Truckstar Assen event is a fantastic experience for everyone, this video shows a great journey! You were *really* lucky there with the blue lights. The Dutch law is strict about blue lights, even blue lighting in the interior is not allowed. Just like any lighting on the underside of any vehicle (15:49). I think that you would have gotten the fine and you cannot drive any further without actually removing the lights from the vehicle, if there were no big truckers event around the corner :) These police officers were polite and professional, and so were you.
I could hardly wait for the truck to be finished so we could get back some POV videos of you actually trucking. The truck is finished and you're just driving it around like its a car.

Excellent entertainment, I use the hull boat at least twice a month and cant believe I wasnt on the ship you was on . I seen a few on the Monday on the return but it was late when I arrived . Putting those blue lights on that truck was a stupid idea. (sorry Tim but it's true) So far they've just been a pain in the Assen 😉

I love(no) that in any part of the world is the exact ammount of nonsense about beacons. A gray Golf can look "fuzz" with one, a rusty Lada can look "KGB" with one, but there's *zero* chance anyone gonna look at the customised lorry and go "oh crikey, it's them Rozzers gone with some loads'o'lawbooks in the back!" Dutch cops were nice-alright, but really, it's like stopping a man for flashing his tits.

Excellent entertainment, I use the hull boat at least twice a month and cant believe I wasnt on the ship you was on . I seen a few on the Monday on the return but it was late when I arrived . Funny watching you in holland though and I'm amazed you didnt find the horrendous jumps on the motorway transiting the Rotterdam Ring road but they do tend to be going towards Antwerp and what's with Resto 143 man mounting the kerbs ! 😮 keep up the great content
I was bit worried how its going to be on road with those blue beacons when you installed them. Is it ok to have them in UK ?
Heard a story that some guys in Ireland where late for airplane, putted blue beacon on car and than driver had to wait 2 more years for his flight in jail :D
