@@darrensmith3475 it’s not even on the same playing field as Blond Ambition. There’s a reason this concert changed the way that everyone toured thereafter
A true performance. The way the dancers exit & the instruments fade out and she repeats "keep it together, keep it together forever and ever".... I get so emotional. Truly phenomenal.
1990, Jean Paul Gaultier's stage costumes, a live orchestra playing, the choreography, the dancers, her voice, her swagger, the music, her make-up... everything is just perfect. And check out the dance break at @6:28
It was all that PLUS some!! I think the tour is iconic because Madonna was at the zenith of her career, which lasted through much of the ninety's. The opening of the concert, Express Yourself, is her best opening of all her tours, IMHO. I saw the show in Detroit, Michigan on May 31st. Paid $125 for floor seats. Will never forget it. 🙂🙂
@joewhoa1759 because the “Alternate Single Mix” by Shep Pettibone is very close to the live version ua-cam.com/video/L88ucQIuKGY/v-deo.htmlsi=2cepAXKejwSN0Zgn
I want you to notice when she's on the stage, her chant is work. That's difficult to do repetively, but Madonna is dedicated and gets her point across. A vocalist.
@@TheFever77 Michael Jackson barely reinvented himself, always the same moves same outfits, Madonna works harder and I love MJ but the facts are the facts
Holy Water 94 .... but the question was about performance, not reinvention. Michael jackson sold out more stadiums than Madonna in his prime and the crowds were frenzied. I do love the Blonde Ambition tour however, it was her best for sure.
Back in the mid Nineties, I was into great live concert performances and bought every one I could find on VHS or DVD. This included Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads, Fine Young Cannibals in London, Bjork, Pink Floyd Pulse Live, Yes in the round, you name it. Surfing the internet, I stumbled across a VHS tape of a Japanese import of this Yokohama Madonna concert and spent close to $100 with shipping and all to get it. I am not a huge Madonna fan but this is still one of my favorite concerts of all times. I fortunately made a digital copy of the concert before I fully wore out the VHS tape. I am so glad to see a clear copy of it now on UA-cam. Madonna was at the top of her game in this 1990 Blond Ambition tour. Another show of this tour was filmed in Paris at the end of the tour for HBO, but the Yokohama show is far better, except, perhaps for the Japanese crowd who are more polite than ones in the West. The Paris concert is too polished and feels like they are going through the motions a bit. In "Truth or Dare" -- a documentary of this tour -- Madonna mentions that their Tokyo show was rained out and cold and that they couldn't perform the show properly live with full costumes until they got back to the US. That is not actually true. She performed in Yokohama (either before or after Tokyo) and filmed it. I wondered if this show wasn't available here because of that small lie in the documentary. There is no overproduction of this performance. Cameras were set up and they filmed with imperfections, if any. In the opening song "Express Yourself" you might notice Niki Haris pulls a hamstring on one of the kicks, but she covers it pretty well and sings in pain as she attempts to stretch it out. This is filmed live and is brilliant. The versions of her songs are better than the album versions. Everyone I have played this concert for, despite their musical interests, just can't stop watching it until it ends -- true masterpiece that changed live performances for forever. Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, you name the artist, were all inspired by this concert, except Madonna can out dance any of those who followed. In one song, Madonna pulls off a triple spin on one foot in tempo to the music while singing and deep into a dance routine. She is a true athlete and performer.
The show that was filmed at the end of the tour for HBO was the Nice one not Paris: the tree Parisian shows were recorded for the live material on "Truth or Dare".
Ah yes, "her choreographer". Nice. You would never say the same thing about a Janet Jackson's performance, I bet. No matter how good Madonna is, it's always the OTHER PEOPLE who get the credit. Madonna can write the best song ever, and yet, no she's still not a songwriter. Even when she danced her ass off, again no. Not HER dancing, it's "her choreographer" who gets the praises. She really cannot f-king win.

Amazing Tour. The choreography here is very impressive. No doubt Madonna's brother Christopher is very talented too, because he was the mind behind the artistic direction of the Blond Ambition Tour. All the people involved made a great job.
I love the Yokohama recording (bar the wind blowing the set around!) because: A. The costumes are in pristine condition and, B. Her voice isn't fucked!
Every time I seen Madonna performing I am amazed at everything she pulls out. She is the ultimate pop star of not the ultimate performer. She really makes you feel a beat, and an emotion at the same time. Love her dancing and her vocal ability is real here. The stage presence she has is insane.
One of the unforgettable not only moments but also in my opinion this is one her most unforgettable and also "one with the crowd " a way of saying goodbye to her audience
One of her most memorable moments and also as we are heard the crowd they are all clapping their hands One love true love keep it together people are keeping it forever and ever and ever and ever were never ever gonna stop do our thing madonna used to said that a long long time ago very specifically
I liked it best in Truth or Dare where they were all saying "Goodbye" to her and hugging her at this point and then sliding down into the ABYSS (lol) of the understage....that was the BEST part of the show!
She is fabulous! Her show is very difficult to pull. Not only music but dance and requires lots of stamina. Madonna is one of the best entertainers of the era. Besides the king of Pop.
It’s 2021 now, yet this 1990 performance, 31 years later, remains as fresh, entertaining and amazing as ever-a true testament to Madonna’s iconic artistry and vision-it’s not a fluke when people say she’s way ahead of the time.
“Keep it together-Forever and ever”-she ended the performance repeating this like a mantric chant, as everyone cleared the stage, the back up music faded, and all you hear is this mantra, she dropped her bowler hat as she walked out and the spotlight shone down on the upturned hat…this is how you end the show-spectacular, leaving one with a sense of longing for more of the magic and good vibe.
❤ THIS is the definitive Madonna performance!!! The precision.😮 Absolutely stunning. Her body of work is unsurpassed.
Yessss!!! And these young artists of today could NEVER do this. Her breath control. What!?!!! ❤

No words to describe Madonna's talent. Every time I watch this performance I am just left in awe. Just imagine how this must have been live!
It is a flawless performance. Just stunning.😮
She is absolutely amazing live!!! She raised the bar for every performer out there!!!
