Everyone seems to think this is a hopeful, more positive song but I really think it's a woman's angry plea to God to swap lives with her ex because his/her life has been easier than hers and she resents him/her for it and believes she should have been dealt the easier hand. You can hear how resentful and spiteful she is. The recent Meg Myers (and Anyma remix) versions seem to really make it feel dark and sinister and I can't help but feel that this is how Kate Bush intended but she kept it toned down for radio airplay.
She says what she needs to say. You didn't hurt me but do you want to feel how it feels. A women scorn but still on top and killing it. Strong women dealing with their demons.
I didn't say she wasn't strong. The part where she says "Come on angel, come on, come on darling..let's exchange the experience with me now" ..you can't miss her defiance and sarcasm here. I think she definitely believes she can do the job better than her lover and she wouldn't mind watching him suffer a little while she does so ("you won't be unhappy). I can't help but think the real meaning is obvious and not so much about building the relationship up rather than tearing it down.
