@@vyrawllxo300 yeah littraly all new players just go dumb ass dash heavy auto combo auto combo low low overhead wth assist down heavy superdsh or vanish
Another tip for clash of you don’t already know: Hold back while mashing your 5L and you’ll get the first hit of your auto combo TWICE, which means 2 6f lights (possibly) so you’ll be in an advantage, and if your 6f normal is a 2L, then do one 2L, then just mash auto combo.
I guess the video is aimed at people familiar with general fighting game terms but not specifically with DBFZ. "Plus" in the fighting game context means you are at a frame advantage, meaning if your opponent tries to attack, your own attacks will come out X frames faster than theirs. So, if you're at a 3 frame advantage, and your opponent tries to do a 6-frame light attack, your own 6-frame light attack will come out 3 frames earlier and you will hit them. Air options just means what you can do in the air. Vanishing, superdashing, air dashing, etc. Frame data is like a list of a specific character's attacks and if they are plus or minus (think frame advantage, disadvantage). It is important to know frame data so you know how to properly punish your opponent for throwing out a move that is negative, or to protect yourself when doing the same.
Dude, I'm fucking LL rank and I didn't even know about the getting back air options after blocking midair. I have literally never heard that until this second. That's wild.
Depends on which assist you're calling in, because different assists have different startup times. For each assist, you need to learn the timing so that the active hitbox of the assist is out during the gap between the moves in your own blockstring/mixup. This will either force them to stay in block while you continue pressure, or they'll get hit by the assist.
Two questions, how to stop getting hit in jumping frames and also why do I have such a hard time back dashing in vanish, it doesn’t come out sometimes I tried with dpad and stick idk
I just got this game a few weeks ago, I really like it but yeah I’m not that good. My problem with videos like this is that I can see what you’re doing but I still don’t understand all the game lingo you guys are saying... like I get some of it but the rest goes over my head and I get lost. I play on switch so it’s not like I can talk to people in the game about it
2D fighting games have a long history and lots of terminology dedicated to them, but don't be disheartened. Here's a good resource for fighting game lingo: shoryuken.com/glossary/
I absolutely suck at this myself, but the main things I see is you use superjump float a lot more, since it's just a very safe option, and you gotta learn to dash and superdash with intent instead of doing those things by default. I think I managed to start superdashing *only* when I'm reasonably sure it's a good move, but I still dash regularly all over the place and constantly get clipped while backdashing. It's hard to rid myself of that habit.
superjump float and repeat. This shit wins you neutral and learn to jab your opponent out of the sky once you're floating and your neutral will become great. There isn't much more to it
Jumping towards people is usually a super strong movement option. Just hold back when you're moving forward and dont press buttons until you're really close to the opponent. To make yourself even safer when approaching, throw out an assist before you jump or when you jump.
Not really? You can still combo into it just as easily and can still combo after it, and it still does the same amount of damage it used to do. You just don't get Oki anymore.
Why do people hate on Jiren so much? He's not even that bad. Sure his command grab is 4 frames slower than most and his ki counter is shit doesnt mean hes a bad character. At least he has better Frame Data than Gogeta iirc
My main advice is stop doing superdashes or vanishes if your down heavy gets blocked
What would you suggest a player does in that situation?
Jayden McCall specials. Ki blasts. Assists. ANYTHING else. Backdash even. Or if you really wanna, DELAY vanish.

Interesting advice. Always fun to watch tutorial videos on fighting games, even if I wont really be able to utilize it myself lol.

When your opponent is blocking while you are mixing them up when is the right time to throw in an assist so you don’t get punished?
