Breaking is subjective yes, but it can also be judged via various preset criteria that can be somewhat easily measured. Ex. It is relatively easy to judge vocabulary, musicality, execution, and perhaps creativity. It’s just that a vast majority of people don’t do breaking, and therefore have trouble understanding the breaking terminology or criteria.
The humility & comradery between these competitors is inspiring. It's great to see such awesome role models for kids, especially those growing up in difficult situations.

@urameshi4725 lol the first bboys were poor American kids and young adults who partied together in the Bronx. Some of them were Latino(PR,DR, and cuban), some of them were Black American, African or Jamaican, the white kids were usually Italian, Jewish or of Irish decent. The first Bboy crew was the rocksteady crew, cleaaaarly multiracial, hip hop history is extremely well documented and most of the hip hop OGs at least for dancing are still alive.
My opinion breaking should be in the Olympics, but not yet. I'd rather see it sponsored and lobbied by redbull as it's been working with as an extreme sport for the past 20+, or a group other than the World DanceSport. It's an extremely political ballroom organisation, ballroom literally whitewashes/europeanises American, latin and afro dancing in the partner dance space and says their version is better. I think the actual community could work to form a proper and a competitive global committee and create standards that aren't based on Eurocentric qualifiers for dance as a sport. Urban dance communities are extremely well organised.
its akin to gysmanstics id say. breaking/breakdancing being reliant of music background and calisthenics, and the cognitive skill to sync with the rhythm transitioning w/ the songs timing.
That was so fun to watch! ❤ this literally brought me so much joy to see the discipline these two obviously have and yet, both were really just enjoying themselves. I really hope they do this event again in 2028 regardless of the drama and memes with Australia

@@ricadioy hahahhaha nice joke too
@@rixter69 can't do one step of breakdancing and crying
Way to go Phil making Canada proud.
Absolutely stunning. The addition of break dancing was the best decision in the 2024 Olympics. Loved the way both of them competed especially the Frenchman he was brilliant applauding his opponent and dancing with a smile throughout.
I'm so mad that people who don't even understand what is a Footwork or a Freeze and still have the guts to say this isn't a sport is unreal
Great to see such comradery and genuine respect from these two athletes.True Olympic spirit👍❤️
Haven't watched much of the Olympics this year. Thanks Phil for years of work to get the gold!
First time seeing Breaking, mad respect for the respect they shown each others even heads up for the gold. Class!
0:55 "aaaah..lets go Daddy" 😂😂🤣 calm down darling
IT'S DANY NOT DADDY ARE YOU DEAF? DANY IS HIS NAME
1:28 It takes two ❤🎵
To make a thing alright
Plz plz we need this in the next Olympics
As of 2024, Breakdancing isn't included in the Los Angeles 2028 list, and no venue has been considered for it either. Fingers crossed, as this sport breathes USA culture as well.
However it’s looking like gymnastics 🤸♀️, it’s nice to see novelty and aesthetics in these games 😎
I just think it's awesome that they were having so much fun with each other. What a spectacle
This was amazing, to see them admire each other while doing their performance. Truly admirable.
Phil Wizard is a wizard on floor.
whats the track that starts from 0:55? anyone please?
It takes two - Rob Base
A remix of it
Phil crushed the finals… wasn’t even close in my eyes… so technical with every move
I’m glad this is an Olympic sport - this was so impressive. If we have gymnastics, we should have breakdancing - it’s impressive floor-work plus the ability to spontaneously create a fluid routine.
this is what olympic competition should really be about. having fun with your fellow athletes from across the world, while showing pride for your country. you can be competitive and show sportsmanship as well
The whole battle was 4 minutes and you make a 3 minutes highlight video that is poorly cut. What is the point of this?
Wow. This is more than just sports. Thank you, Paris, for including it. Much much better than adding E-sports to the games.
I love 💕 break dancers, they are so strong and flexible at the same time.
I'm Canadian and didn't hear anywhere that we won gold. I just searched for the finals. Amazing work bud. Made Canada proud.
I love how both of them were smiling and having fun w it. Wholesome.
If you look at the history of the Olympics, art and painting were once an event, amongst other things. It's unfortunate that breaking won't be in LA 😢. I think the coverage wasn't high profile in France. It was an excellent games hosted by Paris ❤
True B-boying is an art but its not as easy as dancing. It takes lot of core strength to be able to pull off moves without any prop or support.
It is dancing
@@markkealy4417 Okay it's Dancing and? It still requires incredible skill and dedication to pull of what these guys do and make it look so easy. Even if it was just normal dancing, it doesn't change the fact they are the best of the best to do it. That's what olympics is about, not some arbritrary set of criteria that qualifies it as a sport worthy of olympics.
Olympic sport can be anything that has enough following and interest, because Olympics are about bringing people all over the world to celebrate things they love. Be it Basketball, Athletics, Football or Dancing.

What wonderful sportsmanship on display. Respect for their opposition
Think like an artist, train like an athlete. That's a great quote.
Wanna know what delusion looks like? Just read through the comments of all the no-lifers trying to claim that Breaking shouldn't have been part of the Olympics 🤣
All the comments saying that this shouldn’t be a sport revealing the layers of internalised racism/classism people haven’t dealt with yet
😂
It’s like HOW DARE an art form created in the STREETS by BLACK and LATINO people be put into a competition. WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE!!! ?? 😡
You’ve gotta love it though. The 31 other dancers were sensational but people choosing to hone in on raygun who was the only weak one
Luckily the world is leaving such peopel behind and this was an example of it. What an awesome event 👏🏽
Hmmm... I wonder what rhythmic gymnasts, synchronized swimmers, and figure skaters are about?... 💀
How you complaining about breakdancing when you have those? You're joking FR
It was created by Blacks not Latino's.
@@jeongna I’m not complaining. I’m calling out people who are complaining. We share the same opinion
Atlast we have one enjoyable event in the olympics
Phil wizard is really a wizard,i had never seen such perfomamce he deserves his medal 100%
I love how both of them show each other respect and appreciation throughout the whole match
I just hope this becomes a thing in the olympics in the longrun.
Go Canada! Showing the aussies how it's done!
Thin line between art and sports 😂😂
bingo
There are a lot of sports in Olympics of this nature tho
its akin to gysmanstics id say. breaking/breakdancing being reliant of music background and calisthenics, and the cognitive skill to sync with the rhythm transitioning w/ the songs timing.
That was so fun to watch! ❤ this literally brought me so much joy to see the discipline these two obviously have and yet, both were really just enjoying themselves. I really hope they do this event again in 2028 regardless of the drama and memes with Australia
People are finding out how friendly bboy battels are and it makes me happy
It’s too bad this got overshadowed by Raygun.
Plz add langdi taang
Another frustrated Indian.
It's a shame that woman from Australia might become the sole reason we won't have breakdancing in the Olympics anymore.
Because this feels more like a party than an uptight competition.
This competition made a true supporter out of this skeptic! Genuine sportsmanship and athleticism at its finest.
I love how even during the battle there’s nothing but respect between them.
Oh, so that's what it's supposed to look like
Does this games suit the motto of Olympic? From any angle.
Yup , from gymnastics angle , definitely ,, very tough and requires agility ,
Competitiveness, athleticism, pushing human body limits, yes
The rest, no
Not really they should leave this stuff to redbull.
Faster, higher, stronger? All there. So yeah.
I wouldn't expect an Indian to know anything about sports 😂
The best one was the Japanese Shigekix who for some reason ends up at 4th place.
Shigekix was the best one without a doubt, him not being on the podium was kind of a shame
The respect they have for each other makes it even better. kudos to both of them.
Breaking dancing hits different in slow motion... 😮
Chess is not a part of Olympics but this is what a joke 😂😂😂
Obviously chess is not a part of olympics , it’s not athletic , we have olympiads for chess
@Neelinmact The governing body of chess (FIDE) is recognized by the IOC and any IOC recognized sport can be included in the Olympics program. I mean, they are literally looking forward to introducing e-sports at the games ffs.
@@educationpurpose9295 they maybe but we already have a chess Olympiad ,

B BOY did a lot better in my opinion I slow down the video and 2:48 analyzed it he did a lot better honestly a robbery that much more coordination and steadiness with his moves
This is why you are not an Olympic judge 😂
Bro Phil Wizard brought the heat since the first round. Ol boy was spazzing out straight out the gate. B Boy either underestimated his opponent or he wasn’t on his A game that day. Nevertheless, both guys did great but Phil Wizard is indeed the rightful winner.
Yeah absolutely not lmao
Phil gave me goosebumps in every round. Epic. Well deserved 👏
Japan was robbed
Is this a GAME 😮😮😮 ?
Why no Parkour
Would have been a perfect opportunity for France to introduce it to the Olympics… then next Time breaking in America 🤦♂️
Phil wizard was amazing.. both of them were absolutely great!!
Fantastique work - well deserved! 💪🏼
