Great video. Please keep it up. There are a lot of car DIY videos with conflicting information. But we can trust a Toyota Master Tech ❤ love to see some Lexus CT content as I just got one. Keep up the channel 🎉
Henry Royce of Rolls Royce said a skilled mechanic is better than any torque wrench. I agree and have almost never used one. After well over 60 years the feel acquired for nut/ bolt tightening is second nature. I really appreciated the slow and thorough description here, especially the diagram showing the overflow arrangement. Very valuable video. Thanks.
15:18 - love that high quality Lexus steering wheel. You should see my high quality dash and door panels. Marketing is a wonderful thing for the money makers. Thanks for this video. Very well done. I have the exact same car. Cheers!
😂 you should see my dash and door panels in my 08 is350, all melted and coming off piece by piece everytime your nail snags it... and it's been changed by lexus 2 times and still melted by the heat from the sun.
@@hwnboi11 That's crazy. When was the last time it was changed? I guess they're not fixing the problem. Probably some supplier in China cranking out junk.
How often should one replace the transmission fluid? Or transfer case fluid? I have a 2022 Lexus IS 350 AWD 6spd. Previously, I had a 2019 Camry, and I did the transmission fluid change at 60k.
Thank you for the detailed explanation. I had a mechanic work on my car to replace the filter and fluid, and he filled the ATF through the over flow plug and said it was okay to fill the fluid through there as well. I wanted to confirm if that is indeed okay or does it have to be filled from the 14mm fill plug on the side? I hope they didn’t mess up my transmission
The ATF filter is inside the pan. I don't have the service interval in front of me from Lexus. Check out a video i made a while back, changing out a solenoid in a Lexus IS. There, you can get a better visual of inside.
I brought my 2009 Lexus IS350 with 78k miles to the dealership on 9/25/24 for a transmission fluid exchange. They advised against it, saying the fluid is considered 'lifetime' and that it would be expensive. I thought this was somewhat routine maintenance for my car. Any recomendations on this?
Nice work! It's time for me to service our 2013 GS350 F Sport. Gonna do it on jack stands... I was thinking about filling trans, running engine and drain again to get more fresh fluid in. Your thoughts? Thanks, I appreciate your thoughts.
great video. wish i found this earlier but more or less i followed the same exact process yesterday. i noticed though that there’s a rattle noise towards the end of higher rpms (2015 350) only when driving (not in park). i’m wondering if it’s a heat shield that got bent when i was squeezing a socket on the fill plug?
When you were checking the level i noticed you kept pumping fluid. Do you keep pumping fluid until the old fluid starts looking like new fluid then you wait for a trickle... once the color changed?
Dumb question here. When you say a garden pump… you mean just like a bucket with a hose attached to it and a hand pump? Would the hose even fit in the plug hole?
I was thinking of doing this to my 2011 IS250 AWD. I just hit 150,000 miles and I don’t think the previous owner did any service of this kind to the transmission. I talked to a mechanic and they said not to because it was too late and I should just hope for the best. Any advice, should I do this?
Question, i was looking to buy a scantool to check the transmission temp but they are so expensive, but i noticed in video you didn't check any temperature with any device, how do I do that without any device so i dont have to spend $$$.....i kept watching the video over and over but i missed the part where u checked the level without any device telling the trans temperature recommendation?
If you need a torque wrench for a drain and fill plug because you fear overtightening or leaving it loose, then i wouldn't recommend trying this yourself.
Legitimate video cause its uncut at all... Anyway anyone know the correct part number for an 06 Lexus is350 transmission pan??? There's 2 ending number 50040 or 30260?
Bro you have a soothing voice. You should be on late night radio 📻
Thank you. Idk about radio, lol. All of this is new to me. Im just a tech trying to do UA-cam.
Great video. Very thorough and detailed with great footage to illustrate. Appreciate the content and subscribed.
Thanks for the sub!
Hey, recently discovered you. Love the videos, keep them coming!
Thank you, will do!

Great point!
I have only used a torque wrench for wheels and suspension parts, which definitely will suffer if overtightened, and can fail if not on tight enough.
Very informative video.
Thank you.

Toyota says they are "lifetime" fluid, and you are not required to change it, but to have it "inspected." On my Rc350, i plan on doing it at 100k
While you were waiting for it to trickle the final time, was the car running?
Great video. Made things super simple and straight to the point. Should I also replace the transmission filter as well?

How about the ATF filter?
Where is it? Inside the oil pan?

Change it dude!
Go to private mechanic, dealerships will always say that.

Hey, it's possible.
Is this operation similar to a 2nd gen Tacoma 4x4 5-speed auto?
The steps in this video pretty much apply to all Toyota/Lexus vehicles that have no transmission dipstick.

Hi, how crucial is the car leveling? i have level gauge, but don't have a lift to get car level would the level gauge be sufficient?
It needs to be leveled. Otherwise, the fluid adjustment level will be off, and the measurement will be inaccurate.
When you were checking the level i noticed you kept pumping fluid. Do you keep pumping fluid until the old fluid starts looking like new fluid then you wait for a trickle... once the color changed?
💯 correct.
@@TheYotaChannel thank you!
Where i live its like 110F outside, how should i do this? At night or early morning?
At night, if you can see, or later in the afternoon.
Dumb question here. When you say a garden pump… you mean just like a bucket with a hose attached to it and a hand pump? Would the hose even fit in the plug hole?
Yes, any hand pumps or transfer pumps will do. Just make sure it's nice and clean. As far as the hose size, 1/2 inch should work
Should i drain the fluid when the car is hot or when it’s cold
I was thinking of doing this to my 2011 IS250 AWD. I just hit 150,000 miles and I don’t think the previous owner did any service of this kind to the transmission. I talked to a mechanic and they said not to because it was too late and I should just hope for the best. Any advice, should I do this?
They are right, don’t change it now, it will cause slippage.

You are correct. You do need a scan tool to tell the temp. Without a scan tool, you can adjust fluid level after 2-3 mins of running
@TheYotaChannel thanks for your help and thanks for posting video.
Im doing the fluid exchange right now, 4QTS would be fine?
I would get 6QTS just in case
Thanks, have to change mine soon This vid will help
Man where’s ur shop ?
Nice
Lexus taken care of by a guy that thinks he’s his own torque wrench….
You’d think any transmission job would worth the torque wrench.
If you need a torque wrench for a drain and fill plug because you fear overtightening or leaving it loose, then i wouldn't recommend trying this yourself.
