    Great unboxing and history of the MPC Mustang 2. I would love to find a MPC 77 Mustang 2 kit with the v6 so i can replicate my dad's first car 👍😎

      Thanks Nick. The kits for the stock ones are out there, but they seem to get pretty pricey. Would like to see Round2 do a re-issue of these if the molds are still around.

      My pleasure Dutch. Just keep an eye on them on Ebay and you will eventually find an auction that might be won with a reasonable price. That's what I did, just have to be patient and the right auction will come along.🤠

    Hi, I have almost all the MPC kits. The Cobra II kit I have built 3 and have 3 more, and it only came with the V6. The 77 Mach 1 had a V8 but not stock. The AMT kits, which I also have, are a completely different tooling as they were two separate companies back then.

    • @skip-o-maticsmodelmania5774
      @skip-o-maticsmodelmania5774  3 місяці тому +1

      That's good to know. I wondered if the Cobra II kit came with a v8, now I know.
      I know Revell had there own tooling back then for their issues of the Mustang II as well. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @grb351
      @grb351 3 місяці тому

      Yes Revell's only Mustang II was the Monroe Handler Cobra and it's reissues. While the body does look like the Hot Rod Magazine project car, not much else is accurate. In my opinion, the MPC annual kits are the most accurate, followed by the AMT ones. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for doing it.

      @@grb351 Thank you and it was my pleasure.
      As a kid back in the seventies I remember Revell was one of my least favorite model companies. MPC was my favorite followed by AMT.

    Nice look at the kit and the history of the Mustang II. Now, AMT released a 1976 Mustang II (I have one.), how does that come into play? Also, a coupe was never made, all versions are of the hatchback. Thanks for sharing.

    • @skip-o-maticsmodelmania5774
      @skip-o-maticsmodelmania5774  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks Michael. Yeah I have never seen a coupe kit either, would be kind of neat if there was one. I didn't get into the AMT or Revell Mustang II kits because this really started out to be just an open box review for the MPC Fire Fighter Mustang II. I know AMT had several different issues but not sure if they ever did a pro stock or pro street version. I think Revell only had variations of the Cobra versions. Something to research I guess.

    • @grb351
      @grb351 3 місяці тому +1

      The AMT kits are a different tool as they were a different company back then. There is only one coupe version made by Nitto from Japan in 1/16 scale. Very rare kit.

      I saw another UA-camr build a notchback Mustang II from a resin kit as he was depicting one of the cars featured on Charlie's Angels. But that model didn't look very good. It'd be nice to see Round 2 rerelease the Mustang II as the three in one kit.

    Im so glad youve done this,Skip👍😎. I have same kit and it was good to see the history of it👍🤓. I've just found the slicks are a loose fit to rear wheels😔but my decals are ok. 😂😁and I probably won't be using them. If anyone wants them ??🤔. I didn't know the stock car had a V6. I've been searching for one to go into a Anglia. So that's another kit I'm going to have to find😂😂. Thanks for showing and best wishes from jolly old England 👍😎Pete 🤓

    • @skip-o-maticsmodelmania5774
      @skip-o-maticsmodelmania5774  4 місяці тому +1

      My pleasure Pete. The real Mustang II had a 4 cylinder for the base engine and the V6 was the "upgrade" for the first year or two, then they started offering a V8. All the engine choices were grossly under powered. But that was the 70's in the U.S., and with the new pollution control and attempts at fuel mileage everything performed like a sick dog.
      Are you looking for any V6 for your Anglia build? I know the AMT Opel GT has a 3.8L Buick V6. The AMT '93 Splash Ranger, and I believe an Explorer as well, has a 4.0L V6. The AMT '95 Blazer and GMC Sonoma have a 4.3L V6.
      Wishing you the best from the rebel colonies.🤠

      @@skip-o-maticsmodelmania5774 4 cylinder pinto and v6 were both common here in the real world and I wanted to make a Ford powered v6 Anglia,with slot mags and sidepipes,that would have been reasonably common on British streets in the 70s and 80s,rather than the full blown dragster in the kit🤞🤓. Thank you for your advice on engines available, the closest I'd got was a twin turbo Nissan from a tamiya kit,which is still very tempting but not where I was going😂😁

    Bob Glidden and Don Nicholson ran the Pro Stock versions. They would be a great sell if they could get a deal together. futrattraction has an awesome replica of the 351 Cleveland and Lenco four speed for the Mustang 2 pro stocks. I plan on building both of the versions of the Fairmont he drove to many wins and championships.

  • @grb351

    The body of the Firefighter kit is a 1974, which can easily be identified by the hood and grille surround panel. The 75-78 were different. So there were two tooled bodies as the annuals had the stock bodies with slight differences in trim. The Cobra II was unique lacking side trim as does the real car. The King Cobra kit can not be built stock, unfortunately. I have two of those.

    Even though I'm way late to watching, good video! It would make sense for them to come back out with like the Dyno Don Pro Stocker as I believe they still have the licensing and they've put out a couple other pro stocker kits. (Grumpy and Bruce Larson)

    Thanks for the unboxing. Mustang II s are one of my favorite cars. I built one of the stock versions in high school( check out my video). These kits are hard to find, and expensive when you do. I fortunately had a friend at work buy a collection and had a Midnight Mustang version and gave it to me, because he didn’t like Mustang IIs. I bring up the Mustang II kits on Round 2’s UA-cam page from time to time, maybe…..

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Yeah it's hard to find a Mustang II kit of any manufacturer at a reasonable price. The 2005 issue of the Fire Fighter is the best chance, but you have to be patient and watch Ebay for a good deal.
      I know Round2 reads the comments, so if everybody mentions it enough they may do a reissue. The MPC pro stock/pro street I would think might be coming around again soon as the last issue was 20 years ago.
