  • Nureyev: From Russia With Love
    BBC Documentary 2007
Documentary telling the story of dancer Rudolf Nureyev's rise to fame in the years before he defected from communist Russia and began his long stage partnership with the British ballerina, Margot Fonteyn.
Through the vivid memories of those who knew him best, this psychological portrait tracks the origins of his rebellious character, his complex personal relationships and his artistic genius. It features previously unseen footage of his early triumphs in Leningrad, filmed by a German teenager with whom he fell in love, and who encouraged him to leave his homeland.

This is from the jail when Margot and him visited a Hippie Happening and were clueless of what a Happening was. Nureyv was beautiful. He is of the most beautiful men in the world. Margot was restrained glamour. Their Pas de Deauxs were amazing. His tomb in Paris is the most beautiful tombs I've ever seen. It is like the Russian Rugs he collected.

I was a student at the RBA when I saw him rehearsing Giselle with Fonteyn after he defected from Russia. He was so gifted from God, but those chosen to have such gifts must pay a price. He died the richest ballet dancer in the world with around $30 million. He fought hard to live but had to admit in the end he was dying, he paid the price because of his promiscuous lifestyle. There will never be another Nureyev.

01:38 "I don't think anybody can hold a candle to me"
Is this kind of self awareness of one's ability arrogance? At first it seems so. A lack of humility is seen as ego, perhaps it's unfettered self confidence. This kind of lack of fear of judgement allows a flow of ability.

It wasn't homosexuality wich kill him. It was promicuity. One can be straight or gay that doesn't matter. But if you are promiscuos either you are a guy or a woman, you are calling for troubles. Back then AIDS was unknown.
And ballet increased his life span for over 13 years after the diagnosis. That's how healthy and disciplinated Rudik was.

When I was five years old 1959. My mother Betty Fike took me on a long train ride to Dallas Texas. There was an old hag woman in a wheel chair waiting on me at my Grandmothers house on Zang Blvd. I went to her and was not clear as to why she was here. This old woman was an Arab from Praque. She pulled me close and said " You are the greatest ballet star in the world. You are Rudolph Valentino and a Jew. I scratched the Star of David on your chin while you were still in your baby blanket. Do not forget it. You are the Messiah and must dance in King Lear again.
She had brought a tea cup and saucer from the dance studio there that supposedly 75 years old. And she must see me drink tea from it?. She brought a tea for drinking with her and I drank only a sip. That satisfied her. I think it was water from Checkslovokia, Russia? After this I drank Lipton tea with her and held her hand through her fevers and put save on her head until she passed away in 2 weeks..
She died and we did not have a service for her and she was buried on a snow covered hill in an unmarked grave in Dallas Texas. I am not sure who she was. I was told she was my great great Grandmother and what she had done was fullfill a promise to her people and to me. I am fascinated by the fact that I have never forgotten I have been made 52,000 times as a human and retained my life force- Shalom Neiman Vampire William Fike

He was a great dancer, but Rudolph was diagnosed with AIDS in 1984 and died from AIDS in 1993. His doctor that originally diagnosed him in 1984 did not divulge this information because Rudolph said it would destroy his career. Rudolph's main sexual partner of 14 years did not know of this diagnosis. The doctor admitted in court what he knew and said that Rudolph was extremely promiscuous. His partner (Stacey) tragically died from Aids. Rudolph had LOTS of sexual encounters and may never told anyone those about his illness. how many guys he may have infected and (no doubt) died.

Rudulp was the best of his time, today the greatest is Sergei Polunin who is famous now and has gotten 17 million hit for his music video were he performs to the song from Hozier called "Take me to church" and has been on the Ellen show. He is now known as the greatest male ballet dancer in the world now and does moved nobody does. only a few men have been bestowed the honor of being called the greatest of their time so it's like being a dinosaur and once in a life time breed of caliber performer. sadly they have died and Sergei Polunin is now are modern day greatest ballet dancer living today. He should respected because he is a once in a life time kind performer a rare breed you only see one in a few decades or century. men like Rudolp and Sergei deserve the adulation that they get, because nobody can move like them...Rudolp and Sergei Polunin are considered men that gravity forgot. they have movements that are utterly amazing. people like you who think that performing ballet is gay is just a sad man who live a boring box that is restricted and don't have a open mind.

Rudolp was the best of his time, today the greatest is Sergei Polunin who is famous now and has gotten 17 million hit for his music video were he performs to the song from Hozier called "Take me to church" and has been on the Ellen show. He should be respected because he is a once in a life time kind performer a rare breed you only see one in a few decades or century. men like Rudolp and Sergei deserve the adulation that they get, because nobody can move like them...Rudolp and Sergei Polunin are considered men that gravity forgot. they have movements that are utterly amazing. people like you who think that performing ballet is gay is just a sad man who live a boring box that is restricted and don't have a open mind. it warmed your heart that he a man for hitting on him, he should be flattered but tell him he isn't gay. guys who react like that are the ones secretly questioning there own sexuality. you act as if being gay is bad and it isnt. it warmed my heart to see a trained gay MMA fighters beat up,5 straight guys so bad two were in critical condition for being homophobic, ass hoes, who are secretly gay and are angry because that gay man made them feel some kind of way and they hate who they are and they project the anger in a man who loves himself and is confident to be who is and not try to appease anyone, they see he is free and they secretly wish they can but they have been indoctrinated to believe it's wrong..so they take their false masculinity and try to attack a innocent man only because he is gay, God knows way they look stupid...why it brothers them who be sleeps with is beyond. well those stupid straight dudes picked the wrong gay guy who is a skilled MMA fighters a ju jitsu expert and they thought just like you he is gay let's knock him out....lol gullible punks almost died and got beat up in front of 60 people at a night club and video recorded lol and they are all in the hospital. shame on them....so it warmed my heart to see karma and justice dealt with by a gay man.

June giovani in spite of your speech I have only seen mean nasty misogynistic hatred and the infection of little boys from gay men.

Very unappealing face he had. Not very handsome at all. He looked just like his mother, but she was a little better looking.

+michelle staunton Where is he now? Nureyev is in all of us who love life, art, creation, and God for all of the rest of human history. What have you given the world michelle besides your ignorance? What have you done for anyone? Where do those of you end up who think they speak for God by throwing stones at everyone else?
Nureyev was a gift from God. He will be just as famous and adored in heaven as he was here. You however michelle will just be the ass who posts negative comments on UA-cam for all of eternity! You are not worthy to speak his name, make comments on his page, watch his art let alone preach to anyone your juvenile thoughts on the bible, God, art, life, love, death, limbo, and probably anything else. You should talk about cheese or blocks of wood or something that is more towards your level of comprehension.
