Lyrical themes can create sub genres, however they would not be lyrics anymore. They would be words in a book. In this case for Norse Mythology, it would be a history book about the mythology.
Viking Metal very much does exist and is a real thing. It's a sub genre of black metal with folk viking influences and generally viking lyrics. I guess Once Sent From The Golden hall could count as Vikinged Melodic Death Metal :P

+Alessandro Gallo Not really, B standard is BEADGB, the one you mentioned is a Baritone tuning, however Amon Amarth uses that tuning as well in some of their songs. both tunings are great, even though it's just 1 string that has changed. but still.

Yeah the pedal note in that part is F#, but i think they were describing the second half of that riff.

+Derpy Viking Baritone tuning is B standart. Alessandro is right. you forgot that the 5th string is tuned a halfstep lower.
Relentless The Baritone tuning got the F# while the B standard tuning got the G.
